Hey BD - Great thoughts yet again.
Regarding Davids plan with the colonists, I never really considered the chance that David may want to rule the colony. Indeed him killing Danny and Tee and any evidence of his works would put him in a good position to rule and become "God" which is something I did think was in his plans but my thoughts were regarding the Xenos his final strand of perfection. Governing a planet of Xenos would be his army and he could start from therr. Infecting other worlds from his LV223 LIKE base.
So actually starting a colony for humans only under his command, creating a world that he wants whatever that looks like is a very interesting idea.
This may take more than one film but it is certainly something we could debate for some time. The possibilities and reasoning behind his choices are limitless and interesting at the same time.
A little bit like the potential Prometheus created with so many possibilities. We may yet grow to love A:C;) for these reasons?
Ever since I bought AVPR on DVD, I have certainly got my money’s worth. Well worth every penny spent. It is a DVD that has really stood the test of time imo. I think one of the great things about it, is that it is a great conversation piece and ice breaker. I just cannot express any more praise about it. It is a rare event indeed if it is not to be seen on my DVD player ever since making it into a makeshift ash tray.
Cheers for those images... does kind of clear up things..
Some shots in the movie those beings clearly looked about Human size though.... I have to go through the trailers to capture some shots.
Got these but there are better out there..

Then these off set.
![]()
Shows different sized beings as ones to the left larger than ones to the right yet are also further away

These beings dont look that large either.
But the images you posted do look larger, but as RS said.. these beings are not a RACE but a Civilization so they could come in all sizes?
The Single Male Engineer Sculpt is about 7ft 4" mark (depends on height of those people) but its in line with the Engineers in Prometheus.
The Female and other Engineer shots its hard to work out but the size of the bones being worked on would put them at about 6.5ft tall, maybe between 6.5-7ft depends on height of the Female Production Crew
@Starlogger
I think once Covenant hits home video and streaming and people can watch the scenes where David explains things over and over, there won't be much question any more.
I almost wish David had not explained as much as he did, just to make people use that mush in their heads a bit more. You can extrapolate all you need to know from what we see in David's lab and what we see happen in the movie.
I think they did... they gave away pretty much what was going to happen, especially if you saw every Trailer and TV Spot
Was just thinking about what you wrote
Given that ships, like the one in Alien, transport tons and tons of (I assume) expensive ore around the galaxy, that would probably lead to piracy
So corporations would probably invest in some form of offensive/defensive technology I'd hope lol
I think maybe David will take them to Origae-6 explain away the death of Daniels.. The Covenant Mission... maybe if he also gets rid of Tennessee then David could pretend to be Walter, especially if he repairs himself.
They set down on Origae-6 and start to transport all thats needed to colonize this World... where then David proclaims himself as GOD and uses the Xenomorph as his Tool to subject those Colonists to his Rule.
Maybe... i just think the Religious themes are bound to follow on with David now wanting to be GOD of his New Kingdom.
But then Religious themes could play in the Engineers objective and Agenda too... I hope that Origae-6 will not be a World that already has Humanoid life and also is not connected to the Engineers.. as this is a bit lazy and too much of a coincidence.
This is a good point and one i covered a few times...
If the incoming Engineers are a Party at play in the next movie and RS comments mean these 3-4 Parties come into play around the same event... This would suggest one of TWO things.
David takes the Covenant to Paradise, and the other incoming parties arrive here.... with the Engineers very much latter on.
Or David takes the Covenant to Origae-6 or the LV-223/426 system. In which case the Engineers arrive at Paradise and must then find evidence that allows the Engineers to join up with the other Factions/Parties at play latter.
The Engineers who return may know of the Juggernaught craft and where they came from, but then who knows how many Outposts these Ships are based.... LV-223 could be One of Many Outposts.
The Engineers however would be able to determine from the Crashed Juggernaught where it came from thus LV-223 it would then also be able to determine where the Juggernaught was going to (if its destination was Earth) or indeed having found out the Juggernaught is from LV-223 these Engineers would maybe know the intention of this Place and Earth.
The Big Question is how do these ENGINEERS find out where David is taking the Covenant?
They would find all these Experiments, they would read a recording on the Juggernaught and no doubt maybe it would have a recording of Dr Shaw and David 8.... they may find Dr Shaws body.... but there is no Signs of David 8.
They will however find WALTER or his Body... and so it seems the most Logical way would be that the Engineers find out where David is off to from Walter.
@BigDave - "these beings on Paradise are not as Large and most are Human sized."
The Engineers in the plaza looked to be of varying heights, as they should. Of course, we had no human next to them for scale, but we did have scale later when the Covenant crew walks by their corpses. They were much larger than human scale.
The skinned Engineer in display in David's lab was also the same size as the ones we saw in Prometheus.

@AdamPD
Earth would not have the slightest chance.
Even if we assume that earth has in this timeline dozens of defensive (nuke armed) satellites. Which is probably an overestimation of the real capabilites.
War ships probably not and transport/science at best.
Humans in the Alien timeline just started colonized exploring the universe, while the "Engineer species" started millions of years ago.
And dont forget the physical advantage/appearance of them being 9 foot tall and strong like 5-8 muscular humans.
Part 2 Black Goo explained.

So here i my take on the Urns.
The Engineers Weaponized Urns/Vases have Four Components, a External Storage Container that houses the internal components which comprise of Four Glass Vials that are surrounded by a Reactive Compound that reacts to break down the Glass Vials and mix the internal Pathogenic Mutagen with the Reactive Chemical Component to Create a Chemical Reaction that Produces the Black Goo Virulent Biological Weapon, which reacts Differently to Various Environmental Factors and Pressures.
The External Casing has Markings and Writings that likely contain Warnings and Handling Instructions as well as Inscriptions relevant to the Purpose and Nature of the Bio-Weapon.
The Internal Reactive Component is affected by different Environmental Factors, that cause this compound to liquefy and react with the Glass Ampoule Vials to break them down and mix the Pathogenic Mutagen with the Reactive Catalyst Compound, This Reactive Component will also break down the Structure of the Storage Component once it reaches optimum Environmental Factors and Pressure, Releasing the Virulent Bio-Weapon.
Which has different effects depending on the Factors which effect the Reactive Components Status.
Thus.... The Urns contain a Mutagen that contains Mural-Xeno-Deacon Organism Strain DNA and this substance when it comes into contact with a Host depending how it comes into contact and dosage... will Genetically Re-write the DNA of the Host causing Mutations where the Host Organism will have its DNA Re-written to take on the Mural-Xeno Strain DNA
The effects are a bit different when the Mutagen is mixed with the Reactive Chemical Component but still does the same thing.
These components of the Urn Bio-Weapon are similar to the Radioactive component of a Nuclear Weapon, and coming into contact with the Radioactive components of a Nuke has different effects on a Organisms DNA/Organic Mater.
But these components when Activated by the Juggernauts Weapons System can be modified to React in a Different way where the Components of the Urn react in such a way that causes the Urns to Explode and the resulting Black Goo is effected in a different way that it just destroys DNA of Organic Life within a Blast Radius much like how a Nuclear Weapons Components when Activated/Exploded will cause a Massive Fire-ball that Destroys/Incinerates all Life within a Blast Radius.
@Gavin
Same problem though. The term "morph" is used primarily by the film makers and fans in describing the three forms of the humanoid (xenomorph, neomorph, deacon) version of the organism, so if you just want one term that simply means the "result of how the pathogen infects it's host", best to use another term since the seeding mutation version (as far as we know) and seeding version do not involve those.
I remember seeing Prometheus without having seen much of the trailers, because of that, the fact that an engineer was still alive was a complete surprise.
If I was on Scified back then, I wouldn't have enjoyed the movie at all.
If Awakening happens, I won't be discussing it here or viewing any trailers. In fact, I'll try to ignore any trailers for a movie I'm looking forward to.
The marketing for Covenant was probably never meant for us anyway.
I wonder if at some point we'll see a full blown engineer vs human war because of what happened on that planet?
Probably not, but that'd be awesome if they did.
Does Earth even have warships?
Very well done, and well said, Kethol. Yes, the details ARE all there, you just have to look, and look again, and think. THAT's why this movie will be much more enjoyed over time and earn a rightful place of respect. It's not nearly as "muddled" as a lot of negative nancies would like to think it is.
I will have to work on my Topic i have been meaning to re-address for a long time... here is a quick run down though.
THE URNS/JUGGERNAUGHT
The Black Goo in those Urns was Originally not Black-Goo as far as in Prometheus. The Juggernaught Ships Original Purpose was a Evolution of the Ancient Seeding Method. The Sacrificial Scene shows us a Engineer drinks from a Cup/Bowl of the Sacrificial Substance, this breaks down his DNA and this DNA then reforms into a New Substance that infects Organic Life and passes on Engineer DNA onto it while it also Evolves the best traits of the Organic Life this Mutagenic Substance comes into contact with.
If the Elders/Hiearchy had came up with a better way to Seed Worlds more Faster, then surely if they held Mass Sacfrificial Rituals where a Engineer is taken and given the Sacrificial Substance and then they do this while they are held to a kind of Sacrificial Table with Groves to collect the Material or even inside of a Tank/Sarcophagus a Engineer (Humanoid) is placed and then exposed to the Sacrificial Substance and the broken down Humanoid Material is collected and siphoned into a device that allows it to be stored into Glass Ampoules and thus the contents of those Urns.
Then would not dropping down Urns of Engineer/Humanoid DNA to Seed Worlds be more effective than the Lone Sacrifice on a World route?
I think this would explain the Hanger with the Buddha Offering Statues, in that its a Ritual Purpose that these beings are used now and again for Sacrifices. They are collected by a Engineer Ship for this Honorable Fate. If the Juggernauts was a ship where Sacrifices are collected and then Sacrificed either on-board or at some other place to create the Substance that goes into the Urns for Seeding Worlds. This would explain the reaction of the Engineers/Humanoids on Paradise and how they did not seem to be fearful of the ship.

THE BLACK-GOO
Something however had happened over the thousands of years so that a Faction of these Engineers had came into contact with a Organism, and the result of this Organism was to see one of their kind give birth to New Life, a Chest Buster and these Engineers saw this maybe as a way to actually have a Engineer Give Birth to New Life in a different way, a way similar to Child Birth that these beings had Lost or had taken from them.. or simply never had (if LV-223 Engineers are Sterile Clones). These Engineers then experimented on the results of this Organism until they had achieved what the PROMETHEUS MURAL had shown....
They viewed the Organism in the MURAL as PERFECTION and they then used the Sacrificial Substance on this Organism to create the Strain of DNA within those Urns on LV-223, this is why the Deacon was in a Sacrificial Pose.. it was to show that it was Sacrificed just as the Sacrificial Scene and its Genetic Material/New Mutagen collected into those Ampoules and stored in those Urns.
I wish i got my lazy ass into gear lol i have been meaning to do a lot of Topics for a long long time, i have covered the Black Goo in depth a number of times and i have also figured out how come its effects are different in AC, and i was meaning for a while now well 4-5 weeks to make a Topic.
Who knows what the Black Goo really does because they keep changing it as they go along... my Analysis i will put next and i dont think it contradicts what AC shows or the Novel but i have yet to read the book.
"So if there were/are thousands of engineers as David stated to use for his practice...where are they? Are they asleep? Chillin on the planet?"
This is interesting and we have to Logically ponder what this could mean, as well ONE Engineer was more of a Match for David but these beings on Paradise are not as Large and most are Human sized.
Its a very ambiguous quote..
I fail to see how David alone can fair against Thousands of living Engineers. I also think it would be difficult to experiment on the Dead Bodies... and so i can only ASSUME some Engineers escaped not so damaged but in no way was they 100% fully fit so they proposed no threat to David. I think this Quote means David was conducting a Frankenstein's Monster from Engineer Parts, clues in the Set link to this.
Before the Novel... i did wonder where David could get his experiments from, as far as Hosts for them... did some Engineers Survive or those beings? And then how does David managed to subdue them, as we see a Engineer easily took care of David.
So when looking at those beings which most seemed Male, but there was also Female Bodies in the Sets... and they appeared to be Human Sized... i wondered did the Cathedral have a number of beings inside who most could be Female and that when the Bombardment began this place started to seal itself off as some kind of Prevention measure.
If these beings and the ones inside the safety of the Cathedral are smaller versions of the Engineers and they need FOOD/WATER which is now maybe contaminated, then this would make them very ILL... they either drink/eat contaminated FOOD/WATER or there was limited supply inside the Cathedral and eventually these Humanoids would become weak from Starvation etc and become Easy Targets for David.
The comment by Wayne Haag and a few other concept artist about how the Juggernaught and Scorpion-docking ship having a Dust Up and then one shot in the Movie we see for a quick second the Scorpion-ship crashed in the back ground, this gives another means for David to obtain Engineer Material.
If this ship had beings on board and this ship was protected from the effects of the Black Goo Bombardment... but then it crashed and the crash could have left those inside injured and so easy for David to use in his experiments etc.
These TWO was how i thought David would have obtained Genetic Material for his Experiments, as i felt the Charred Dead Bodies would for the most part be not suitable and that a large number of alive and well Engineers would easily be able to take on David. so my TWO options provided a Less Plot Hole ridden explanation.
I'd love to win the A-Box! lol
Def up for a competition :)
Totally Mental... Thanks for sharing... and crikey who knows where Science could take us in 50 years.
So now we have looked at that... its now time to see how this can pan out... RS has said they are going to the Planet...
But which Planet, and RS had said there are 3-4 players who will arrive, we have to assume these 3-4 players will arrive to intercept or go where the Covenant is going. RS knows LV-426 and LV-223 are not Planets... but maybe by Planet they mean that System?
So a lot depends on which Planet RS refers too... if it is Origae-6 then we have to look at Davids Agenda and why would he want to head to that place?
The logical reason is that he can set up shop and have enough time to create a whole lot of Xenomorph Eggs... but surely David could do this on the Covenant ship?
So who knows what will happen as far as destination, but if we assume David will not be returning to Paradise or LV-223/426 then this means BLACK-GOO is not Part of the Process to those Xenomorph Eggs.
It therefore is more Logical that David somehow either is involved or does something to make Synthetic Material become involved in the Xenomorph Life Cycle.
With TWO Face Huggers and Daniels knowing who David is, means he may want to take her out... i am willing to bet that we will SEE TWO Variations of the Xenomorph, one that is like Alien Covenant and one that is like the 1979 Xenomorph that has Synthetic Material in its Make Up.
I think its likely that we see David either experiment with Walter Parts to somehow combine Synthetic Material with Xenomorph DNA... or David builds a Walter Model from parts and this Walter-Model then gets Face Hugged by one of the Face Huggers to give birth to our Bio-Mechanical Xenomorph.
I think the Waltermorph route is what we shall be shown, its a Question of is this Waltermorph ... Walter from AC? a Walter David builds or a Walter David builds but then Transfers Davids Mind/Soul to.
A alternative route would be one of the incoming Parties Provides the Synthetic/Bio-Mechanical Make up for the Xenomorph.
So this would then be a Android from a incoming Human Ship or a Engineer or Elder.
Regardless there has to be some Piece of the Puzzle that allows for the Mechanical Part to be added to Davids Experiments and then this resulting Bio-Mechanical Xenomorph then Egg Morphs Hosts to become those Eggs.
HOWEVER... with Engineers coming back into the FOLD we could see Black Goo/Sacrificial Goo play a role instead on one of Davids experiments.
BWW, maybe it's the other way around. Demons are deceptive by nature. Who knows...
I think it depends on how the approach this (Derelict/Eggs) and if they dont do any more U-Turns.
Right now AC has gone the route to show us DAVID Created those Eggs, in the movie is not as Clear Cut... but RS comments have said that he has Created them.
The Xenomorph looked different it lacked Bio-Mechanical Looks and Chest Buster and Gestation was different, again in the movie its no clear cut way to suggest David Created the Xenomorph or if he Evolved it. But RS had said the Bio-Mechanical Look of the Derelict and Xenomorph in Alien is something we HAVE YET to arrive to.
so in order to get to LV-426 and those Eggs there are a few things that HAVE to happen... If we accept without those Face Huggers David brought on-board the Covenant or the Eggs David Created on Paradise... then there would be no EGGS on the Derelict.... this then leaves us with the Following.
*David has TWO Face Huggers, and how those Eggs get onto the Derelict really depends on which route RS/FOX are going as far as how the Xenomorph PROCREATES
a) Does the Xenomorph Egg Morph Hosts into Eggs?
b) Does there be a way that a Queen is created that lays Eggs?
c) Is there another way those Eggs are created, which would involve Davids Experiments and depends on how he created those Eggs on Paradise.
I think RS may not choose the Cameron's Queen route, at very least not directly connected as a Xenomorph Queen. And option C would mean David may need Black Goo, which he does not have or maybe have to use Tools/Equipment on the Covenant to Splice Xeno-DNA with Human Eggs most likely
*Regardless which way RS goes for the Xenomorph Procreation, the Aliens in Covenant are not Bio-Mechanical and so its Logical that the Off-spring would not be either. So if David goes for the Egg-Morph or Queen Route they must come from a Bio-Mechanical Version of the Xenomorph first.
Because if these TWO Face Huggers are the same as in AC, and we get Egg Morph Colonist = Eggs or a Queen Chest Buster = Eggs we really have to wonder how does the Mechanical Element come to play?
I think it was Happyxeno.
here's a thought...
If the Engineers are the 'angels'...
Then what are the 'demons' like??
Maybe with the sequel we find out?
I remember she showed pics of the prize, one with her cat being pretty casual about a mini-Alien now sharing the house. :)
Can't recall her name, but her avatar was a face/helmet shot of Ripley in the white spacesuit she wore at the end of the film.
Or both, DK. ;)
"Good point. Glad I only watched it 1.5 times."
LOL i know what you mean.... my first time people with me was talking and it got so awful we was joking about stuff and talking about the other movies.
So i never really paid too much attention to whole thing.
My 2nd attempt i got half way through and could not watch anymore lol..... and i usually have a Great Memory but i recall so little for this movie which means its Truly Forgettable.
I think i stopped watching it because it took a Big Dump all over the Franchises...
Mind you i felt AC had done a tiny dump on the Franchise too, but with AC i can kind of see why things was done the way they was...
ALIEN: Manticore
Been busy and haven't done an excerpt in a while, so I figured this made a good teaser. :)
NOTE: This is still pretty 'raw' and has some clean-up editing and polishing needed, so read with that in mind.
***BEGIN EXCERPT****
“Okay people, final prep and checks. Selina and I will take lead. Declan, Katherine, you two stay with Smythe no matter what happens. He’s going to be busy with his equipment, that makes him vulnerable.” Sin said over the comms, getting assorted inarticulate sounds of general acknowledgement as his people did the final check over of their weapons and gear.
It took five minutes and he didn’t push, it was better to spend a few minutes at the present than find something that was overlooked later. When they were all ready, they all disembarked at once, eyes and weapons sweeping the area for anything potentially threatening, finding nothing. The barren landscape inside the building’s storm walls offered no hiding places for anything larger than a small mouse. Selina moved quickly to the rectangular entryways, scouting ahead to check for any problems in getting to the iris-like door that led into the building itself. A small detachment of drones waited by the door, evidence of someone on Manticore thinking to keep things covered for them.
“All’s clear, but grab some demo charges for the door.” She said over the comms.
“The drones never did find a way to open the exterior doors did they?” Smythe commented, sounding speculative.
“It’s weird, they must only have controls inside.” Katherine commented.
“Hmm, not so weird. It would be a pragmatic security measure, simple and quite effective.” Smythe opined as Declan opened a storage compartment inside the back of the SDRT van, took out a couple of blocks of yellow-and-black striped explosive along with a couple of stopwatch-sized detonation units and started to where Selina and the drones waited by the door.
“Here’s the keys.” He joked as he handed the explosive charges to Selina, working with prepping the det-units as she peeled the priming strips off the molecular adhesive backings, placed one charge on the wall on either side of the door.
Declan handed her one det-unit and he attached the other to the explosive charge she wasn’t working on, pressing the prongs of the det-unit through the outer wrapper and deep into the plastigel explosive beneath.
The charges and det-units set, they walked away from them with the drones following, up the slope towards the rectangular entryways and back to the SDRT where they waited with the others until the simultaneous blasts occurred, shaking the ground they stood on with an almost stingingly-sharp concussion even through the soles of their boots and the distance involved.
“You two sure you used enough?” Sin commented sarcastically over the comms.
“Well, we wanted the door open, and just in case there was something lurking on the other side, it’s either dead, injured so badly it’s a non-issue, or ran for it’s life.” Declan replied.
“Okay, let’s go see what there is to see. Get the trackers running, the sooner we find these people and get back to the ship, the better.” Sin commented to everyone in general, activated his own multimode tracker fixed to the accessory rail of his rifle, the small screen positioned beside the combat scope-sight.
“Manticore, this is the Captain, over.” Sin said on bother general and command frequencies.
“We hear you, Captain, over.” Elizabeth replied quickly.
“We’re just about to head in towards the access door. Keep our telemetry locked-in and tell us if there’s any interference. We brought relays, but there’s a lot of solid stone and passageways that could mess things up, over.” Sin said to her, leading the way beside his wife, eyes sweeping like scanners, missing nothing, experience kicking in as if it’d only been yesterday when he’d last needed it.
“King and I are keeping eyes on you all, Captain. Affirmative on alerting about signal problems. Sharie’s ready to jump in to address signal problems as much as can be done from our end, over.” Elizabeth assured him.
“That’s all I can ask for. Good to have you there with King and Sharie, over and out.” Sin said, the compliment sincere and he felt a good way to end the convo so he could focus completely on the situation the five of them were walking into.
The iris-door had lost most of it’s blades on the right side due to the explosives employed, allowing easier access for the five crewmembers of Manticore than could be had through the door found by the Prometheus crew where only one blade was missing.
As the first one inside the building, Sin looked up immediately upon clearing the threshold, weapon tracking upward as well. Seeing no possibly lethal surprises of any kind, he scanned the floor-level area with weapon-light, eyes and tracker. Behind him, Selina did likewise, but a more prolonged check as her husband was thoroughly inspecting the floor-level area and keeping the corridor extending deeper into the building from the entry vestibule they were in firmly in his mind, frequently shining his tac-light beam at a narrow setting down it’s length as he continued looking the place over.
Like Sin, she was looking for anything structural that might come down on them, or possible lifeforms that might attack for any of a dozen possible reasons. She found nothing, not even a crack in the massive and solid stonework, then switched her attention to seconding her husband’s inspection of the area.
Next through was Smythe, followed by Katherine and finally Declan. Declan noted approvingly how Katherine stood slightly ahead and beside Smythe on his left side as he was right-handed, covering him yet staying as much out of his way as possible. He didn’t doubt that Katherine would make it a very risky proposition for anything that attempted to attack the older man.
Smythe looked around, no weapon at the ready, instead he busied himself with a device the size of a large fishing-tackle box. It’s weight was managed by the strap from it’s top connected to his equipment harness as it took both hands to operate properly. It was a compact and highly sophisticated sensor-analysis suite in a portable package. It’s size relative to the technology of the era was a testament to the complexity of the device and it’s extremely wide array of functions and capabilities. He scanned the vestibule area with it, the results showing only bio-traces brought along with himself and his crewmates from the ship. As yet, nothing of note had found it’s way to where they presently stood.
Some partial traces were millenia-old, and so faint as to be inconsequential. It did note that the atmosphere was perfectly acceptable fro breathing, and the rate of decay in the small percentage of ozone that was present told him that somewhere in the building there was an operational air-processing system, still functional after millenia. Taking a moment, he rook out a relay module from the small satchel he carried, twisted the casing to deploy the antennae, peeled off the adhesive’s primer strip and attached it to a nearby wall. A flashing blue LED indicated it was functioning and he turned his attention back to the sensor system he carried.
Sin and Selina had moved ahead, to the mouth of the corridor that led deeper into the building, waiting there for the others to join them.
“Y’know, this kinda reminds me of our honeymoon.” Selina commented jokingly over the comms to Sin.
“I apologized for that, but it did pay for the wedding, honeymoon and a seriously indulgent shopping trip if I remember rightly.” Sin replied, a chuckle at the memories sounding in the comms.
Selina abruptly brought her rifle up and aimed down the corridor ahead of them, her weapon-light narrowing down to tight-beam focus as she sighted through the scope at the same time everyone’s trackers emitted an alert tone, showing a small, mobile signature ahead, just beyond the gentle inward curve of the left wall of the corridor.
“Contact. Saw a glimpse of something, not enough to tell what it was. Smaller than human-sized though.” She said tersely over the comms.
Sin sighted through his scope, scanning the area ahead, looked at the tracker’s monitor beside the rifle scope-sight, the signature was still there.
“Let’s have a look. You three stay a couple paces behind us, just in case.” He instructed Smythe Declan and Katherine as he selected a flechette round in his rifle’s grenade launcher magazine as a precaution against anything small, fast and potentially dangerous.
Sin and Selina moved together, staying close along the left side of the corridor, eyes checking the tracker screens as they made their way towards the signature-point. When they were close enough, they exchanged a look, a couple of hand signals, and Sin stepped out to the right side of the corridor simultaneously as Selina rounded the remainder of the left wall’s curve obscuring the signature-point and whatever was responsible for it.
The small humanoid creature was one of the same kind as the drones had discovered previously. It looked up from where it had been hiding to peek around the curve of the wall at them earlier in shocked terror as Selina stepped inhumanly quickly into view, while Sin also stepped into open sight of it, rifles aimed at it’s torso. It backed up a pace, turned and ran away in obvious panic at a semi-quadrapedal gait that reminded her and her husband of how gorillas and other terrestrial primates ran.
“That was anticlimactic.” Selina commented and started looking ahead down the corridor again, using eyes, light and tracker. There was a small cluster of contacts just at the edge of the tracker’s range.
“They’re definitely not very high on the ‘threat’ list. I’ve got a group of contacts up ahead, you have the same?” Sin replied, moving to stand beside her as they compared tracker displays. Smythe, Declan and Katherine joined them, Smythe’s larger and more capable piece of equipment gave them all a precise count of the contacts, and displayed what biosignature information it could detect at that range, consisting of pulse and respiration rates. Within it’s range, there were other signatures, too far away to determine anything beyond their presence.
******END OF EXCERPT********
@Kethol, I will simplify...
Pathogen = Morph
Morph = Pathogen
The four forms you mention are actually the results of how the pathogen infects its host, and the "Morph" traits of the pathogen are always present whether incubating (Shaw), consumed (Holloway and Sacrificial Engineer), or by physical contact (Hammerpede and Fifield).
Remember, Ridley has shown us the pieces of a puzzle, along with a few misleading elements. remove the misleading elements and strangely, like Lindelof and Scott said, the answers are there in Prometheus and confirmed in Covenant.
I am going to make a Frightening Admission...
I have only seen the movie... partially twice... and i dont really remember much about it as i lost interest and never saw it all the way through or paid attention as it was so awful.
I thought the Effects and Action was pretty decent... but the Plot and Silliness was Awful... maybe when i give it 3/10 i am being generous..
Oh well i will go and Dig out the Boxed Set and Watch it after and then i can come back to this Topic ;)
Actually we don't know yet. We only know David has 2000+ colonists in cryo and facehugger embryos.
Some will say "David created the Xeno" but even that is highly disputed. Til it is clearly stated with official material (no Ridley-Rambles) I'll go with what is hinted/stated in the lore, that the Xenos, or at least some form of them, are way older than David (LV-178, Midwinter etc.).
@Gavin - I assume you are using the term "xenomorph" to refer to all forms of the parasite born from the host, not just the version David engineered?
There is no xenomorph involved with the "seeding" form of the pathogen, or the mutation form.
The simplest way to say it is:
Pathogen = one of the following
a. new animal life
b. mutation of existing animal life
c. destruction of all, or a specific, animal life
I would have made the game a WRPG PC exclusive on par with Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Knights. Maybe I'll start my own forum on this idea.
You guys ever see some of the developmental concept art for them?
heh...imagine an anus, with wings, and inch-long curved rattlesnake-like fangs, as well as a large number of smaller/shorter needle teeth so when it chomps onto you, it stays on.
The actual prop had the retractable/deployable jaws with teeth, sadly never used in the film though, but that's why when it chomps onto Milburn, he immediately knows he's in trouble, as it's feel like needle-lined vicegrip pliers grabbing onto the glove material and probably crushing a fold of skin in the deal as well.
Then, lets consider it's constriction power...I looked up what it takes to break human arm bones that badly, compound fracture that can tear through a reasonably tough multilayered suit. Some extrapolation was needed, but I did get the strength and tolerance values of arm bones.
OMG, the level of force involved is stunning!!
He'd have been better off with his arm in an industrial washing machine's drive system. Or a Grizzly trying to tear it off.
The Hammerpede might look like an anus with wings, but the laughing stops when it gets wrapped around part of your body...say, your waist...
Instant Victorian Hourglass figure.
CRUNCH
Or your thigh, the pain from a broken femur has been known to kill all by itself. ;)
