One of Aliens' most memorable USCM marines is all up for being revived for another run-in with the acid-bleeding Xenomorphs in the next Alien movie, if given the chance! That's right, Bill Paxton, the man who played the infamous character Hudson in James Cameron's 1986 Alien sequel, Aliens, was recently asked about what he thought about Neill Blomkamp's upcoming Alien 5.
At first, Paxton wasn't that aware that the film was even in production, first telling Entertainment Weekly ”That’s the first I’ve heard of that”. But after being told Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn were both coming back, reprising their roles as Ellen Ripley and Cpl. Dwayne Hicks respectively, Bill exclaimed “I mean, if you’re going to bring Hicks back, you’ve got to have Hudson!”
Technically, you never see Hudson actually die in Aliens. He gets dragged under the floor by Xenomorphs. Gearbox's Aliens: Colonial Marines showed that Hudson had been taken to the Alien nest located near the reactor on LV-426, but that game has since been all but discounted by the fan community. Assuming Hudson's demise in Aliens CM isn't canon, it would certainly give the character an opportunity to return.
Despite the dilemma of creating a scenerio for the Hudson character's return, Bill Paxton has remained quite active in film, especially in sci-fi - starring in the recent Edge of Tomorrow movie, opposite Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise. He certainly still has that charisma which made his portrayal of Hudson so iconic, it would be great to see him back in action in Alien 5! What do you think? Neill Blomkamp's Alien 5 project was inevitably canceled following the merger between 20th Century Fox and Disney. Blomkamp had hoped to revive characters Hicks and Ripley for a new film, rewriting the Alien timeline, chalking up Alien 3 and Resurrection to mere bad dreams. Studio executives decided to can the project and instead took the franchise in a new direction, tapping Fede Alvarez to direct Alien: Romulus.
Neill Blomkamp's Alien 5 is indefinitely shelved.
