Joe Rogan, the man behind the infamous Joe Rogan Experience podcast recently shared a new studio mascot on social media this week. That new mascot is none other than a sculpture of a Xenomorph! But, this isn't our classic Big Chap, this is the four-armed genetically modified Xenomorph which would have featured in Neill Blompkamp's Alien 5, had the project not been shelved indefinitely by 20th Century Studios and Disney.
The addition of the new sculpture at JRE headquarters raises some questions - the most obvious of which being, will Joe Rogan have Neill Blompkamp back on the JRE podcast to discuss his vision for Alien 5? We can only hope as that would really give us some much-needed insight to the film's story beyond what we already know. Check out the sculpture below and stay tuned for potentially new information on Alien 5!
Neill Blomkamp's Alien 5 project was inevitably canceled following the merger between 20th Century Fox and Disney. Blomkamp had hoped to revive characters Hicks and Ripley for a new film, rewriting the Alien timeline, chalking up Alien 3 and Resurrection to mere bad dreams. Studio executives decided to can the project and instead took the franchise in a new direction, tapping Fede Alvarez to direct Alien: Romulus.
Neill Blomkamp's Alien 5 is indefinitely shelved.
