Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) herself has spoken – she loves Alien: Earth! While speaking to PEOPLE Magazine about her upcoming film Dust Bunny, Weaver touched on Alien: Earth and expressed her enthusiasm and appreciation for Noah Hawley's Alien TV series – praising the show's effort in broadening the scope of the Alien franchise. She loves the Hybrid / Cyborg / Synthetic story arcs, the new species of aliens introduced and the corporate greed component present throughout the show:

I'm really enjoying it. What I admire about it is the scope is so much more profound than just an Alien movie. It's about our world and what's dominating the world in 100 years, and to me it's right on.

The interview continues on:

Weaver praised Hawley's concept of the "new creatures based on children," referencing the hybrids, synthetic beings with human consciousness, like Sydney Chandler's Wendy.

"All these things are so remarkable and they're just building and building and building," she said.

"And the monsters that he's also bringing in are just terrifying. It's like, we don't have enough problems with the alien, we need 50 more," Weaver gushed. "I can't believe I'm watching TV."

Sigourney Weaver, who is currently 75 years old, at one point was going to reprise her role as her most iconic role, Ellen Ripley in Neill Blomkamp's Alien 5, but the project fell through. There was a subtle easter egg referencing her Alien character in Fede Alvarez's Alien: Romulus.

Noah Hawley's Alien: Earth TV series arrives this summer on Disney+ / Hulu and FX Networks! The first 2 episodes began streaming August 12th, 2025 and the show will span 8 hour-long episodes! You can find a list of the episodes titles and their release dates here.

She won't be doing Earth. Noah Hawley said there'd be no major cameos and Sigourney Weaver is too old to play Ripley in this era

Yeah there's no way Ripley will be making an appearance in this and it would only seriously confuse the timeline even more lol it's a good thing Ripley’s story arc is being kept separate.

Ripley is done, I have no interest in seeing her or anyone related to her in any upcoming Alien-thing ever. She was good in the first 3, Alien 4 is bad, time to move on.

Agreed, bringing her back would be like when they brought Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker in the prequel trilogy and totally eroded so much of his character's aura. Seems to be the Disney trend though to try and capitalize on our nostalgic attachments to these characters. I'm all for creating new stories and introducing new characters.

I wouldn't be surprised maybe like after 10 years where AI is phenomenally advanced and we may see a very believable Ripley comeback or make a cameo.

A lot of Disney era content like books comics and games seemingly ignore Alien 3 and Resurrection but I honestly don't think they'll do Ripley. They would have likely started with a Ripley movie before Romulus if they wanted to use her. Blomkamp's 5 is as close as they were likely to get when it comes to bringing Ripley back. That ship has sailed.
