Hello! First time post here... Cannot wait for the movie. The trailer does look magnificent.
Anyhow, who is this being raising the space jockey's cockpit? I've brightened him/her up in photoshop and touched out the films title letters to get a better look... intriguing!

Also - the crew has their helmets off in this scene - suggesting this is probably the "earth discovery" in the cave and not on the derelect... right?

Also, Dallas states in Alien that the jockey seems to have been "growing out of the chair", that it essentially is attached to the ship. I guess it's possible that this fellow (assuming it used to be human) further mutates once in it's seat, but I agree, the proportions just don't seem to add up.

The blue Man does not appear to be naked. In fact, it seems to be wearing a snug fitting body suit. That would not be consistent with him being an infected crew member undergoing forced accelerated evolution, as its unlikely they (the expedition crew) would have well-fitted clothing for him.

I was thinking, Scott said that the Space Jockey was just a suit for something else... maybe that isn't meant literally. Obviously, there's a chest burster inside, but it could be more cryptic than that.

That is exactly my point I made on another thead (End theory). I also agree with Spartacus and others that we just have to wait and see, and embrace it for what it is, I agree, still Im only saying this creature looks like freakin Voldemort, way cheaper design that anything Giger would do. Come on if this Alien race looks like this, it will disppiont a lot of us, erasing the "alienness" and mystery of it all we felt when we first saw tha SJ fossil.

Hey Guys check this out! Listen to the background music too :))
And this will be our reaction when we will see mr SJ lol.

i really am starting to believe that the crew or certain members of the crew steal the technology of the sj's and infect one of the sj's with the alien which then bursts out of said sj and cause the ship to crash on lv426. i don't think that this image is that of a sj, remember back when everyone was talking about the trailer and it was stated that scott was filming scenes specifically for the trailer and not the movie, with that said it is possible that things we are talking about may have no relevence to the movie and may not be in it. most of the scenes in the trailer happen so fast that only someone who slows down the viewing of it can really decipher what is going on, then based on assumptions try to discern the plot like I have done at the beginning of this post. bottom line, we dont know what it is or what is going to happen but given what was stated about the trailer a majority of this footage may not even be in the movie

It reminds me of a guy who looks just like that (or whos name is similar), and his head is made of stoned with Sumerianish hieroglyphics tattooed on his face. Watched Rise of the Planet of the Apes last night, It's got me thinkin about Prometheus. Could there be a connection! Is it as it appears to be? humans turning into super humans? why would extraterroristrials want to make super humans? Are we going to see some new alien Biomechanoids? U-F-Off's if you see any flying objects that glow and look like Mentalos do you not shoot them down? Well they try! Hummm but they never shoot them down. That's kind of bad right? They just take off or shrink...vanish. Always a step a head, them's ET's.

The details of that figure are actually very Gigeresque in design. If the SJs are giant biomechanical humanoids, then, by definition, they have to look essentially human in gross morphology.
I know that Scott has claimed he goes "practical" whenever possible, but the original alien would have fallen apart fairly quickly, if you'd actually had a good, long look at it in bright light. It was really just a tall guy in a suit, some animatronics and gallons of pumped slime. It was an outstanding new classic in monster design, but.....making a convincing ( fully articulated/animated ) biomechanical humanoid would actually be that much more difficult, because we know exactly what to look for in terms of what just doesn't look right.
I don't think puppets, animatronics and/or make-up prosthetics would work for anything other than relatively brief, ambiguously lit shots. In the trailer shot of a person being carried "in distress" we see a glimpse of what I think we can expect: a lot of very creepy gigeresque CGI to make all those strange biomechanical "gears, cams and tendons" appear to work organically.
If the SJs aren't humanoid, why did they plop down a gigantic humanoid head, right in the middle of their technological safe-room? Why does that standing figure's head so closely resemble the much larger, sculpted head?. In "Alien" the SJ's legs were presumably enclosed, merged....( whatever ), with the "telescope" chair, but it's upper limbs were very humanoid. If the elephant trunk "skull" really is just a helmet......which it certainly is in Giger's concept art.......then giant humanoids actually make perfect sense.
Even if it turns out that the SJs are giant humanoids, instead of "new and improved" slimy-scary-monsters, I think we're going to see some very freaky s__t from both them, and their technology.

We all make the assumption that a human is mutated/evolved/transformed into something that is or could be a sj. What if the sj's were performing experiments on their own kind and this is the result? Whether the experiment was intentional or by accident I cannot say, but just postulating a different theory.
