Why is there a room with a big head to begin with?

"Heh, "2001" is a BS sci-fi creation myth, it's just told extremely well. If "Prometheus" is ( in part ) the Ridley Scott "Alien" universe creation story, ( as both he and the "official" synopsis have suggested,) then we can expect it to be a very dark mythology, indeed." True, one tends to forget that 2001 (my favourite movie of all time BTW) is a BS creation myth based movie, since it is so well made. Arthur C. Clark, of course is a scientist and adding the fantastic aspect to a movie does not take any entertainment away from it.

I'm with you on "2001" Macs. In [i]1968[/i], when I was ten years old and saw it in the theater, it was a visual, cerebral, tour de force, hard sci-fi mind-f--k which directly resulted in my life-long love of good....and yeah, sometimes [i]not[/i] so good, science fiction. I was already a space buff, and naively assumed that we'd be roughly where Clarke and Kubrick implied we [i]should[/i] be, by 2001. Instead, and unfortunately, human exploration is back to being science [i]fiction[/i].
