MemberOvomorph01/14/2012actually im not too upset about the suits they have...they pretty ass kiking...but what i was complaining about was the shot...exuse me image of the person next to the chair riseing from the floor...the zoomed in picture...um...it looks way to human to me...even if it is a giant...im just disapointed...they should of had geiger on the set is all im saying...he is actually the whole creator of this world anyways...or the idea of it maybe..but in not sure if anyone is aware of a game called DARK SEED????? i was hopeing the SJ would follow a more...um..organic illustration of that universe, if u can understand my dumb babbling...but anyways ...check out dark seed...

MemberOvomorph01/14/2012i'm diggin' the spare Engineer suits (or maybe just statues?)
after all, there is HUGE sculpture of a head in one of those rooms
in any case, i had been wishing for a new image to tease us all,
and low and behold, i got my wish! really intriguing image here
and...i love the countdown to the PROMETHEUS film
for it to hit theaters in 145+ days (aaaaaaaaaaaaargh...!!!!!)
still, looks well worth the wait!

MemberOvomorph01/14/2012As interesting as the SJ "suits" are, I'm wondering why Noomi's suit looks so different from earlier released pictures that appear to be in the same location. Anyone up for a side by side comparison?
I started a new topic with example photos for discussion.

MemberOvomorph01/14/2012so this is where the "retouched" rumor came from? a bunch of sheep who can't use their own judgment to tell that it's a real photo?
the prometheus forum continues to challenge my faith in mankind.

MemberOvomorph01/14/2012Why don't you use the photo to answer some of your questions? For instance, obviously if you were to apply resin to these surfaces, It would take on a much more INTENSE organic look like bones. I'm talking about applying it to the walls ceiling and floors, literally everything. Then it would look oddly familiar. The process would either take one xenomorph a long time, or many xenomorphs a short while.

MemberOvomorph01/15/2012Darn...Those figures remind me of:

I was hoping for something A LOT more Giger-esque and biomechanical. Eg:

MemberOvomorph01/15/2012You guys have got it all wrong. Quite clearly those are not suits. Rather 2 actual SJ's standing in the corridor waiting patiently for the lavatory to become available! Really, there's no need to over analyse this image :D

MemberOvomorph01/15/2012These are not suits. This the body. In alien, when they stumble across the sj. Dallas reveals the chest being busted open as if an a xeno bursted through. Also he claimed the body of the sj had decomposed. If this is a suit, then this is going to be an epic fail.

Boy are you out of the loop!

MemberOvomorph01/15/2012Dallas also had no idea what the hell he was looking at. He was speculating, like we are.
I may work for the company, but im really an OK guy.

MemberTrilobite01/15/2012suits or statues? hmmm
if they are suits how do you put them on...
why would a space jockey ship have space jockey statues...

MemberOvomorph01/15/2012The Three figures in gold look like what has happened to me and now that I am about to turn 50 ! You should Look forward to it guys !!! LMFAO.

Unless, as speculated, it's a temple and not a ship, then statues makes sense. Why would a ship have a giant head?

Gehirn
MemberOvomorph01/15/2012The doorway in that picture is identical to the doorway leading into the jockey's chamber/star map room. It's most likely on the ship even if the "statues" don't make sense yet.

Gavin
MemberTrilobite01/15/2012my thoughts exactly - why would a space jockey ship have space jockey statues

MemberOvomorph01/15/2012The picture looks authentic for a few reasons. If you super-lighten the pic, the graininess is consistent throughout the image. Look at the background and the dark parts of Noomi's suit and it blends nicely. If the question is: why does she stand out more starkly, it's just (IMHO) that she's lit from the front very well and reflects much more light than the black background which absorbs light.
The thing that still bugs me is the SJ suit size disparity. Are these creatures as large as the original SJ fossil seen in Alien (which was a giant compared to Dallas, Kane and Lambert)? The two suits (if they are suits) seem to be not much bigger than a human being. Any ideas?[img][/img]

MemberOvomorph01/15/2012The reason Noomi looks "pasted-on" could be due to 3D photography. They actually have to light up the set with more flood lights than they normally would because they have to brighten the movies to compensate for 3D glasses. I read somewhere they have to digitally darken the shadows in post to maintain good contrast. This is definitely not a typical Ridley's style of "available light" photography.

@Spartacus: Coffee?
Yea, after Parker takes a sip of his coffee in Alien, he farts.
This is true I am not making it up. Took me a long time of watching that same scene in Alien over and over again to Understand what Parker does right there and to realize the Ridley Scott left it in the fllm for everyone, the world, to discover.
so..."Coffee"...absolutely yes...see explanation above, I am still waiting for an acknowledgement from Neurion for a week that I am right and it is in fact there.
Either way, I have confirmed this for myself about 1,000 times now !!!
Just FYI.

MemberOvomorph01/15/2012Noise can be easily added to the layer as I did in my quickly doctored one that shows the expected scale.
I think the possibilities are
1. Shaw is standing on something tall very close in the foreground but that seems unlikely because she should still be small compared to the archway.

2. The Spacejockeys are closer to human sized but that doesn't quite make sense because the large hall is probably the same size as the caves we see in the trailer and the humans are pretty small in comparison to those.
3. The filmmakers were doing some camera tricks with miniature sets and they allowed her to stand in front of one for the publicity shot.
4. The two shots were combined together to make for a more interesting picture.

MemberOvomorph01/15/2012Can you really tell if it fake? I know Scott said that they would have to go back and alter the captured video and darken it due to the filming in 3D.

db73
MemberOvomorph01/16/2012Well, one thing seems pretty conclusive to me, especially after seeing that super-lightened picture - the thing in the chair from Alien is the same as those things in the corridor. They are suits, as Scott has mentioned somewhere previously. And what is in the suit is likely that big blue Smurf/Navi thing from the jockey chair clip in the Prometheus trailer.
Any other aliens/xenos in this film will take on a different appearance to anything we have seen before. There has been talk of 'skeletal monstrosities' so maybe we'll see some sort of proto Alien/Xenomorph created by God (excuse the pun) knows what process. Probably us Humans sticking our noses in where they shouldn't in all likely hood. Now, sit back and enjoy the ride ......... :D

MemberOvomorph01/16/2012I agree that this must be a publicity photo, and not a scene from the movie. It's been said when filming scenes with the jockeys they'll be using the same technique done in the Lord of the Rings, to make the actors playing the jockeys in those suits look much taller than the humans. As someone said, it looks like the 2 suits could be waiting to use the restroom.
