Prometheus will be 190 minutes - now that's epic!

MemberOvomorph01/18/2012That would be so awesome. Or maybe that is before editing? But that would be cool!

MemberFacehugger01/18/2012Sounds good to me!
Lindelof said Prometheus "is definitely epic in its scope. One of the filmmakers that we ended up talking about to a fair degree of redundancy was David Lean, who directed ‘Lawrence of Arabia'" and that movie was 216 minutes long.

MemberOvomorph01/18/2012Three hours is really too long. They should be able to wrap this up nicely in 90 minutes.

MemberOvomorph01/18/201290 minutes???? I don't even think I would see it if it was only an hour and a half

MemberOvomorph01/18/2012no im hoping for at least two hours + the longer the better 90 mins is no where near enough time to develop a rappor with the characters,
i love an epic and epic suggests long and detailed.

EGR101
MemberOvomorph01/18/2012190min version destined for BluRay release or uncut European version. US gets the PG13 + 160min version.

MemberOvomorph01/18/2012i cant remember the last time mr scott made a 90 min film its not his style especially in this genre 90 mins is fine for a tv pilot or a run of the mill popcorn flick but this is special.

MemberOvomorph01/18/2012Lol.. thats really good to hear! 3 hours of intense sci-fi! Fantastic.
You know, adding the style of ‘Lawrence of Arabia'" to Prometheus would include the flashbacks.. As I recall the beginng of LoA is a funeral, then the story of his adventures, then back to the funeral. Not only that, but the comments that Ridley made about the crew in large places is also something else in LoA. The desert, the rooms, shrines.. etc...

MemberOvomorph01/18/2012I really don't get the studio here: on the one hand they're breaking Ridley's balls about this PG-13 bullcrap, and yet on the other hand, they wanna "squeeze 2 prequels" into a single film. I mean, hello! if you want to make some money, break it into 2 epic films and keep it rated R.
That being said, I will piously watch through all 3 hours without a piss break.

MemberOvomorph01/18/2012Haha, I think some people misconstrued my comment about a 90-minute film. There was a /sarcasm tag there. :)
There's no way you could pull this film off in 90 minutes.

MemberOvomorph01/18/2012yeah i'm thinking of getting a catapher and colostomy fitted for my screening

Ripley Clone 8
MemberOvomorph01/18/2012The longer the better. On average every Alien film before was roughly 2 hours. So if they want to carry the tradition onward and have enough time to build a quality story it NEEDS to be AT LEAST 2 hours if not longer.

Galaxy Dave
MemberOvomorph01/18/2012Alien was rated R due to it's violent content and it was necessary for powerful, shocking results and it endures the test of time. I'm hoping for cosistency where Prometheus will uphold this tradition. I really can't imagine a PG-13 rating, which should be released on Blue-Ray as an after thought instead. And the G rated version as an FLV file format.

EGR101
MemberOvomorph01/18/2012Most Ridley's large scale films run in excess of 150 minutes:
Gladiator 170min uncut
Kingdom of Heaven 189 min uncut
Robin Hood 155 min uncut
1492 154 min
I think the studios have no problem granting him a long cut of the movie judging from his track record.

MemberOvomorph01/18/2012I imagined this coming in around the 2 hour mark. 2 and a half absolute tops.

MemberOvomorph01/18/2012@jones
U really want thia movie be around
90 mins only?
I know that quantity is unequal quality,
but an epic movie should be around
150 mins, if not even longer, if there
Is enough plot to be told.

MemberOvomorph01/18/2012@CBT,
Haha, if you look at my first post, there's a /sarc (as in sarcasm) at the end. And then I made a second post stating that I was being sarcastic.
It would be a disservice if this film is not at least 2.5 hours long.

Haha, sorry, i was scrolling fast as i am
online with my phone.
yeah. A 2,5hour Prometheus cinematic
release would be great.
A 3 hour directors cut for dvd and blu-ray
Please :)

MemberOvomorph01/18/2012Even if this movie is 3hours long, I'll be seeing it more than once! Prometheus is so obviously gonna be the most epic sci-fi film of all time, I can feel it. IF it isn't, then Ridley Scott must retire!

MemberOvomorph01/18/2012wow Did u time the ength of the films with a STOPWATCH like seriusly

MemberOvomorph01/19/2012yes jonesy, personally i want to do away with cinemas all together the cons out weigh the pros for me
sore ass cos of bad seating,
bad calibrated picture / focus on many occasions for me
people who have seen the movie already letting everyone know the plot details and spoilers.
people stuffing their faces and making way to much noise ,
cant pause for a piss ,
being sat in front of some 6.9 guy with an afro and cant see a thing,
horrible people with no consideration,
I think all film releases due out should have the dvd/ blu rays released at the same time so those that want the collective conscience experience can have it and those like me can sit at home watch a perfect picture in comfort, and roll a jay and have an altogether far more civilized experience.

Xenophobe
MemberOvomorph01/19/2012This will be NOTHING like Avatar, that film looked brilliant but overally as a film it was terrible/cheesy and predictable. Prometheus will be to Avatar as Fire is to Water, the total opposite in every way possible!
