A Pinocchio Plot?

A very interesting plot speculation from another ALIEN forum. I'm sat here, unable to sleep and have spent the last hour considering the potential plot for Prometheus. Suddenly, from putting all of the information and conjecture that we have so far together; I had a "bingo" moment! Before continuing, I want to make it absolutely clear that this is purely a theory and further conjecture on my part... Okay, so we've seen Holloway being subjected to an acidic substance and seemingly transforming / mutating. What if his DNA is altered in the process. Maybe he ends up becoming a human and Jockey hybrid. We've also seen a shot of a man looking ashamed with a bruised woman in bed, next to him. What if Holloway, now experiencing unsettling feelings of overwhelming sexual desire and aggression, rapes Shaw due to a shift in his DNA and subsequently, his mindset. Due to his altered and not truly human DNA, Holloway impregnates Shaw, whilst also dramatically affecting the speed of the unborn child's development. We've heard of a test trailer which included a scene involving David talking to a young boy; this is what leads me to believe that a growth accelerated child will be born. The process of a growth accelerated child within Shaw is also backed up by the shot of a woman's belly inflating at an incredible rate in the test trailer. Very soon, Shaw gives birth to Holloway's son, who continues to grow at an exponentially fast rate. The Space Jockeys may have a vastly different life expectancy to our own, accounting for the speedy growth rate (also this may explain the accelerated growth of the xenomorpth seen in the later Alien films... an inherited trait). The boy (whom due to the rumour over at AICN of Prometheus being very thematicly similar to a Disney film, I'll name Pinocchio) is also incredibly smart due to the his inherited Space Jockey DNA, whom are presumably highly intelligent creatures. Unfortunately, Pinocchio grows up so fast the he quickly ages to the stage of being a fragile old man. Remember that shot of Shaw screaming "please" and the further shot of her dropping to her knees, blooded up? Well, the Weyland scientists conduct brutal experiments on Shaw, Holloway and Pinocchio in order to learn more of this new and bizzare evolution of humanity. In the shot with Shaw, you can see David comforting a bald man in a wheelchair; I believe this to be Holloway's son, Pinocchio. As Pinocchio continues to age and wither, a small number of the Prometheus' crew decide to act in defiance of the Weyland Corp and try to help him by bringing him to the Jockey's base, in the hope that the creatures there may be able to save him somehow by utilising their advanced technology. Remember that shot of the crew pointing their guns at someone, in confrontation. We see an old bald man (who I believe to be Pinocchio) behind them, being supported by others (he had to leave his wheelchair behind). Now we've all seen the shot of the blue, bald man in the trailer. I propose that this is not "the real Space Jockey" but in fact, Pinocchio (having been further altered and ultimately saved by the Jockey's technology). Furthermore, I propose that it is this higher being who will steal something from the Jockeys, possibly at the request of a human in exchange for saving Pinocchio's life (hence Pinocchio acts as the mythological "Prometheus"). Naturally, the Jockeys are not best pleased by this and Pinocchio is punished by having an engineered creature burst from within him. A creature born of human and Jockey DNA. This creature chases the humans until a terrifying confrontation ensues during the final 8 minutes of the film. AVP Galaxy Forum>> Prometheus 2012 Thread

@Engr101, great theory! And I'm going to go out on another speculative limb and say that your theory sounds plausible to what we've discovered so far. This would certainly take us in a different direction than what's already been seen associated with the Alien mythology so far, and yet still could brings us to the familiar themes Mr. Scott has said will tie the ending of Prometheus to ALIEN. The biggest mystery we are up against is how exactly will the crew of Prometheus interact with the Engineers/Space Jockey's?! Will time travel be involved? Will human transformation into Space Jockey occur? Will David be a helpful android or a harmful one? The main point that Mr. Scott has made clear is that the story in general is big and deals with our place amongst the "gods"! I guess as the film draws closer we the people of this forum should start placing bets on our theories, so that afterwards we can see who's theories came the closest to the actual film!

I can buy this, however, when Shaws dropping to her knees the old man is in the background??? So he either grew amazingly quickly or Holloway (or someone else) is the oldman. I personally think it will be quite inhuman whatever Shaw gives birth to..... My theories keep changing with new information, but I'm thinking: 1. Holloway is directly infected by a 'progenitor' to the xeno with concentrated bioform liquid; starts to mutate quickly (defence mechanism for the Engineers). I'm guessing the white snake which the Engineers are changing their DNA just like they did on Earth, but this time due to human intervention massive mistakes occur. 2. 'Cocconed man' is infected by a small amount of 'Engineer tampered bioform' slowly transforming and becoming an Engineer. Perhaps this happened on Earth when he was a young boy; a relation (son, nephew) of Shaw and Holloway. He becomes like you say super smart and knows where the home planet of the Engineer's is. 3. Shaw gets grabbed by the Engineers and impregnated giving birth to an Engineer whom is less human and scurries off to do / plan nasty things.

The " Pinocchio " theory can be applied both to Shaw's baby ( if there is one ) and to David ... of course ther is someone bald who is always with the crew ( we see him on a weelchair and in the sequence of the shooting ) . We dont know if hes the son of shaw or someone they found there or one of the crew mutated . Beware also to not exhange someone other speculations as "rumors" i dont buy much the "rape" thing because i find it a bit out of place between halloway and Shaw (and there is absolutely no hint about that )

Brilliant theory there, definitly one of the best. Also like you said, it does fit in with the mythology of "Prometheus" aswell, and subsequently being punished for his actions. The punishment in this case being forced to carry a creature of pure terror and aggression. . .

Also could this "Pinocchio" being, be the one in the chair within the Derelict I presume??

Yeah -regarding the point of the old man is there when Shaw collapses in the med lab - That's cool - Shaw gives birth - Accelerated growth over months turns son into old man. The scene where Shaw collapses can be months later, whilst Vickers and her "side" of the team conduct experiments on Shaw.

I'm in favour of the 'old guy' being holloway after being contaminated with that burning substance. I like the Pinocchio concept, but prefer it to be applied to David: artificial boy who turns into a real boy. Thanks for generating this talking point.

Wow. That is very deep. That is a great theory. That is quite possible.

This very good... God bless the creativity of the fans...Although I agree a bit with what he says @ Starbeast, the metaphor of Pinocchio would fit much with david; He is a robot that for some reason wanted to feel the emotions and passions of the human being and here converge with a fan script where david becomes the recipe to generate life on Earth... Best regards

If I could help sell it to Frantz, the "urge" for Halloway to commit such an act might be explained better if he is considered the human version of a facehugger that never became an egg to start with. He seems to be screaming at some point. Perhaps we saved him from a longer, more horrible process, but he came out slightly "pickled" regardless?

I like this theory as well. Scott did say seemingly small and insignificant things would be HUGE later in the story, right? Makes me wonder if that was more double talk than we originally thought...

LOL this guy also looks like Pinocchio, except that he wanted to be a real monster

I was just wandering whether it has been suggested / discussed that the head of the mutant guy (jumping off the vehicle) is splitting and under the skin is...........

I think it has been suggested that the dome is already starting to form at the top of the mutant guys head. To me his face appears to be growing out / or being pushed off by what is growing under the human face .....
