*fuck Resurrection not 3 alien 3 is NOT as bad as everyone says it is. it went through production hell at as a result it did not meat the same class as the first 2 movies, but the special edition was just as good if not better then aliens (go watch that if you have not seen it) and the idea that the alien takes traits from whatever it burst out of is a great and important one. also i consider alien 3 the movie that could have been the best of all the alien movies by far, and sadly it dropped 2 of the coolest movie ideas to ever not be used in a movie. the first is the wooden planet and the second is gigers unused alien design. sorry for ranting abut this here but i was waiting for the chance to because everyone hates alien 3 for no reason lol gigers unused alien design

The alien Queen is just great, while East very trite and used. indeed aliens made a great contribution to create an original concept (although that isn't the canon of scott). In the case of alien 3 only will say that it is a regular film, I say perhaps was not the best of all, but this far better than the resurrection. Of Alien Resurrection I did not like the human-Xenomorph hybrid. The problem of Alien 3 and Alien 4 is that not contribute anything. I think Alien 3 was the time to tell a story about the origin of the xenomorph and then supplement it with Alien 4. In fact, the same Mr. Scott was wondering why no one had the idea of telling the story of SJ? Meaning, what was that?

And some of us would love to see him totally ignore it. I'm in that group. I hate the insect/queen idea. Aliens is an ok action flick but it lacks all the creative vision and charm of the original alien.

Well there is a story that makes the queen an aberration that came about actually from the space jockey and wasn't part of the reproductive cycle until that happened.

While I can admit 'Aliens' is an action classic from the golden age of action in the 80's...it never should have been.......It is not the proper sequel 'Alien' should have had because of the genre change Cameron forced on his audience......Cameron believed you couldn't do another sci-fi/horror because Ridley had done it already......'Prometheus' proves already that Cameron short changed himself, his audience and his product by making that assumption.....'Prometheus' is sci-fi/horror, obviously and takes the story in an amazingly new and unique direction, especially when you consider where the franchise did go... As for the queen....looking cool, and I admit she looks very cool, does not justify a concept that conforms to earth biology and makes the Alien less alien, more familiar and thus, less frightening and disturbing......

the only reason that aliens was an action movie was because Cameron wanted to do something different, he did not want his movie to be the same as Ridleys and it was not his, or the movies, fault that the rest of the series followed in its direction. each movie should have really been in its own style but they decided to follow aliens stupidly. oh and i was always under the impression that aliens was the fan favorite sooooo why all of this hate all of a sudden?

Actually i think the genre change By james cameron was good because The story was different. alien was about a 7 space truckers having "first" contact with the alien species while in aliens it was a Recon and rescue mission with The marines though they got their ass kicked like the us troops In the vietnam war. Cameron himself, that the theme/concept For his aliens was vietnam where a far more advanced force gets Is butts kicked by a technological lower force, also because of Underestimating the enemy. The character pvt hudson is The display character of that attitude.

I understand where you guys are coming from about the films not being consistent throughout the franchise but the fact is its not LotR or Harry Potter where the movies follow the same pattern. Each of the Aliens films after Alien were all written/directed by different people so nothing was consistent. I would love to see Ridley do a whole other parallel story line for Alien(s) so there can be a consistent story line and direction.

Exactly @Rick........I'm hoping for the same thing, at least for 'Prometheus' to be a new direction that hopefully lives up to 'Alien'. I know I can be harsh about 'Aliens'.......I'm not saying I hate it; the movie just isn't what it should have been in my opinion. If it had been it's own thing from the start, I looked at it through a completely different lens, but it wasn't original, it was a sequel and therefor beholden to what came before it it. It really is a strange state of affairs for this film to be in, because it isn't bad. I can easily call it an action classic, but where my issue comes in is the fact that a proper sequel should have been in the horror vein. To say he had to change things is a cheap excuse. No one twisted his arm on that point..... And I'm not sure why so many fans dislike 'Alien 3' either...given the situation behind the scenes, it wasn't a total cluster #*@*, but it also returned, somewhat to the horror genre and told a bleak tale that fits the 'Alien' milieu more accurately than Cameron's film. Now, that said, while I prefer 'Alien 3' to 'Aliens' for these reasons, I wouldn't call it a superior film to 'Aliens' either. I feel as though, had the studio and principal parties involved not so totally mucked things up in pre-production, filming and post-production, it had the potential to be so much more. It's that rare case where, as a film obsessive, I'm willing to look past some of it's faults and except that what we're left with is far greater a product than could have reasonably been expected given those horrid production issues.

uh - no! more like "Cameron should really apologize to Scott" i watched "Aliens" last night on BBC America, i watched it for nostalgia sake, and STILL could see what a commercial piece of crap Cameron produced. it was like watching a knockoff of ALIEN the thing with Scott and O'Bannon, (i feel) they attempted to make a slick looking b-movie, when in fact, they ended up creating a truly profound work of cinematic science fiction / horror art. detailed to a fault. whilst Cameron attempted to make a great film in his own right, he ended up making a b-movie knock-off of ALIEN, only in his case, he used weapons to suspend the story, rather than well written dialog or an original solid story structure and the "hive / insect" theory...what a load of bullshit, rather then keep the aliens - - well alien, Cameron had to dumb it down it's odd to me that most folks who "loved Aliens" tend to hate Alien3 i get that "Alien3" has it faults, but my god... at least they attempted to tell an original story with that they did like / love "Aliens" all you like, it's a good popcorn action flick, but suggesting Ridley Scott needs to "acknowledge Aliens" is like asking a master painter to acknowledge a xerox machine just sayin'.....
