Look at the Xenomorphs left arm, it looks like there is an appendage attached, your theories (while I check the same scene on the dvd)...

MemberXenomorph02/22/2012Hey guys,
I think its the suit falling a part. If you look at the lower tubercle just behind that arm on the back it completely falls off when it stands up out of the water.

MemberTrilobite02/22/2012I have heard this before, but it looks a little too well formed to be a damaged part of the suit IMO

MemberOvomorph02/22/2012I will scour the info database in the BatCave and see what I can come up with, very interesting.

MemberOvomorph02/22/2012I wander if it's something to do with the lifting mechanism to haul it out of the water; it must weigh a tonne and would need some pretty good engineering to make it stand....

MemberOvomorph02/22/2012Folks, that isn't a suit-flaw or any type of special-effects attachment for lifting the actor out of the water. It was an addition to the alien-worrior design itself. It's basically a boney extension of the creature's exo-skeleton. It appeared only in ALIENS. The design was dropped for the sequels. You can see it very clearly in this model: http://homemedia4u.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=5396

MemberOvomorph02/22/2012I think Rick's right, part of the suit falling off. Look at the tail end too, isn't it supposed to come to a point? It looks kinda sloppy at the tip (lets keep it clean seriously)

"In the original, the Alien featured a small spike on its elbows. In Aliens, this 'evolved' into a scythe-like appendage. Aside from being deadly, the scythe-shape would look odd in silhoutte; just the effect the film-makers were after."

MemberTrilobite02/22/2012I knew it looked it looked like some type of blade or scythe like appendage!
@ Xenokiller3 - BTW, the Ravager isn't canon.

MemberOvomorph02/22/2012actually you are both right. the thing on the arm is supposed to be there BUT the back tubes do appear to be falling off, or spinning around, probably from the water.
