"We ARE the Gods now."
Analyze that, people, lol!

@Engr101 - maybe he is only for 10 minutes in the movie, he launches the story, sends crew to space, and..that's all. I'm hope not, this clip just blow my mind. : )

Snork... you could assume he is going with the crew based on this from the TED Blog under the heading "About the Talk" under the video on the right.
Peter Weyland has been a magnet for controversy since he announced his intent to build the first convincingly humanoid robotic system by the end of the decade.
Whether challenging the ethical boundaries of medicine with nanotechnology or going toe to toe with the Vatican itself on the issue of gene-therapy sterilization, Sir Peter prides himself on his motto, “If we can, we must.” After a three year media blackout, Weyland has finally emerged to reveal where he’s heading next. Wherever that may be, we will most certainly want to follow.

maybe so, but Prometheus is set 50 years after this video, and he doesn't seem to have aged, I think guy pearce may be the second android

True. It says "celebrating 50 years of building better worlds", but I'm not sure when the 50 years started. Maybe Peter Weyland's parents started Weyland Corporation? From "About the speaker"...
Sir Peter Weyland was born in Mumbai, India at the turn of the Millennium. The progeny of two brilliant parents; His mother, an Oxford Educated Professor of Comparative Mythology, his father, a self-taught software Engineer, it was clear from an early age that Sir Peter’s capabilities would only be eclipsed by his ambition to realize them. By the age of fourteen, he had already registered a dozen patents in a wide range of fields from biotech to robotics, but it would be his dynamic break-throughs in generating synthetic atmosphere above the polar ice cap that gained him worldwide recognition and spawned an empire.
In less than a decade, Weyland Corporation became a worldwide leader in emerging technologies and launched the first privatized industrial mission to leave the planet Earth. “There are other worlds than this one,” Sir Peter boldly declared, “And if there is no air to breathe, we will simply have to make it.”

“There are other worlds than this one,” Sir Peter boldly declared, “And if there is no air to breathe, we will simply have to make it.” ...theres the rub. Perhaps he knows already....

I think he is the old guy in the wheel chair too because in the trailer when the security team are rushing with guns toward the threat, you can see three people from what I remember holding the old man and protecting him...it would make sense...this was Weyland's dream...the fountain of youth for him and to crush all those that doubted him and his work...

"maybe so, but Prometheus is set 50 years after this video, and he doesn't seem to have aged, I think guy pearce may be the second android"
Could be the dreaded time travel, he could have programmed his thoughts in to an android the will live forever, he could have stopped the aging process with nanotechnology. He could have gone into hypersleep until the mission. The trip to LV-426 could take this long and the entire crew were in hypersleep and are younger than they should be, It could all just be a dream.

Game_Over_ManFebruary 28, 2012
Thing is, if he's invented cybernetic beings - why didn't he invent cybernetic body parts that would be compatible for humans and prevent deterioration?

Mr.JFebruary 28, 2012
The Prometheus an all aboard including Weyland disappear, prompting the android to be used as stated by Weyland himself, in cases as this where he knew he would not come back...so he instilled his memories into the machine and upon disappearance, the android would be activated.

So "Prometheus" (the ship) was created by this "god" (Weyland) to steal "fire" (possibly the facehugger) to bring back to man.
I'll go along with the old man in the trailer being Weyland.

BiomechanicFebruary 28, 2012
My God Weyland is an anagram for New Lady! He makes a clone of himself but changes it's sex in the womb and has his own baby in the future!
Okay I'll stop now.

BiomechanicFebruary 28, 2012
Because he's about wealth and power not humanitarian causes. He would keep the secret to eternal life to himself. The man that can live forever can become a God.

BiomechanicFebruary 28, 2012
I was hoping for a big conspiratorial story involving androids in this movie and touched on it a bit here It looks like I might get my wish. : )

It would appear the scans posted on the site a few months back were correct.....
