MemberOvomorphMar-03-2012 11:47 AMTED talks always have a speaker elaborating on a concept in an interesting way, and it generally lasts between 12 and 25 minutes. Go watch some if you haven't before. Its one of the best kept secrets of the web. Absolutely fantastic thinkers delivering excellent talks in HD.
This was just the intro to his speech. In the video he did not tell us ANYTHING. As in, NOTHING. We just know he's a bigshot who's only moral compass is to conquer the universe. He essentially asked the question 'are you ready to go?' without telling us where/how/why, which is whats coming next....
I predict in the coming videos (TED talks are usually released as a single clip, but I think they'll release things in parts over the coming months) Weyland will tell us about traveling the universe, some type of engine tech that allows this, the ship itself, and possibly terraforming. Whether he talks about 'everything' or just the starting tech that is about to come, doesn't matter...
In summary, the first video we saw (which was brilliant) was not a TED talk, it was an intro to a TED talk. Every talk begins with a concept, then elaborates on it immensely in a mind-blowing way. Examples:

http://www.ted.com/talks/pamela_meyer_how_to_spot_a_liar.html
If Weyland was chosen for a TED talk, then he must really have something interesting to share....

MemberOvomorphMar-03-2012 12:28 PMweylandindustries.com does finish its title page introduction with, "Interested parties can expect to find out more within the next few days." So...we'll just have to wait, see and be patient...sure as Hell better be vigilant....

MemberOvomorphMar-03-2012 12:36 PMI think this is it for the TED talks from Weyland. There might be more viral video, especially from the weylandindustries.com web site, but not from TED.

MemberOvomorphMar-03-2012 3:01 PMI agree that there'll be more of Peter Weyland's TEDTalk. What's been shown is only the intro of a TEDTalk. As much as Damon has stated he's been inspired by TED and how much he respects it I think it'll stay true to form meaning a 15-20 minute talk we'll get pieces of over the remaining 3 months. Not to mention it's a fantastic way to provide us info in a serial format, knowing more is coming, wanting to know what he says next, and providing a tidal wave of interest for Prometheus' opening day.
Truly brilliant. And if this was it, still pretty sure I'm going to see the movie... ;-)

MemberOvomorphMar-03-2012 6:54 PM@Rocksteady6 and @flacnvinyl, How much do you want bet that there will be another TED Talk with Peter Weyland? I'll bet you that this definitely was the first and last. Not sure what to wager, but the loser could give up their ability to participate on this forum for seven days. Of course this bet would have to last until June 7th.

MemberOvomorphMar-03-2012 7:44 PM@GreatBoosUp... I'll take that bet. If Weyland doesn't deliver another TEDtalk by the end of March, I'm off this forum until Prometheus gets released!
I can guarantee you that I wont be on here at all during May. I don't want someone getting all excited and post an actual leaked synopsis or a screener copy, or something crazy like that. I have a friend who is avoiding everything Prometheus related so that his viewing experience is completely fresh. Honestly I admire that and I'm thinking about doing so very soon.
Love this forum though. I will be back here opening night to discuss craziness.

MemberOvomorphMar-03-2012 8:26 PMAlso interesting was that the start of the speech was the quote from TE Lawrence...
the link was about fire yes, but the point in relationship to fire was not minding that it hurt.
So Promethean fire also brings pain?
(Lawrence of Arabia quote: "The trick, William Potter, is not minding that it hurts." )
