AdminEngineerMar-06-2012 5:20 PMWith the constant updates on their viral marketing website, there are more and more theories arising.
As many of you may have already seen on the "ABOUT US" page on WeylandIndustries.com, there is an evident "blinking" star in the lower left hand corner.
When checking the source file and CSS dtylesheet for the webpage you can see the image is called "/img/findme.gif".
Can anyone spot a star consolation that this blinking star is located in? Is there any evidence in this image that can be pulled to further expand our knowledge of PROMETHES?
Also, I've read that the blinking star is a form of code. Like binary, or Morse code and blinks in a specific rhythm. A few forums are trying to decode it first, can anyone here lend some time towards solving this mystery?
We know we're on the right track because Fox's official Prometheus twitter page "@PrometheusMovie" recently replied to a user talking about de-coding the blinking star and they replied with "You're halfway there...".
Post further theories and speculations on the codes embedded in the Weyland Corp Viral Marketing here!

MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 9:43 AMjust saying but that's the back of a chair in the centre of that picture so that's the console to bring up the SJ chair / cockpit I guess.... The picture of david must be from the other side because there is no chair next to him in the film still

AdminEngineerMar-07-2012 10:06 AMKeep it up guys! There has to be more to it. Let's see what we can spot in the Star Map. Dface already spotted some symbols!

MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 1:13 PMJust FYI, someone had done an audit on the symbols..

Wish we had a facts lookup page... lol

MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 1:28 PMit is simulating an accoustical beacon that repeats at intervals of 12 seconds....duh! And if Ripley decoded it correctly, it IS a warning.

danrald
MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 1:41 PMI'm with you on that.. but how can you tell it is 12 seconds long?

finster1018
MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 1:55 PMI can't even see the blinking star but I was just semi quoting a line from Alien about the alien transmission...a line spoken by Cpt Dallas. Be nice if the font on the forum was the same as what was used as input into Mother from the terminal.

MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 2:35 PMAhhh I get your drift.. The funny thing is that the WOW signal is 72 seconds long.
Which would mean that the signal was sent 6 times...

finster1018
MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 2:46 PMwhat is WOW anyways? World of Warcraft? I still can't see the blinking symbol! Is it really 72 seconds long? Does the signal appear the same every 6 seconds? I guess that would be closer to the theory of a 'warning'.

MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 9:45 PMOK so I may be WAY off the mark here, but using what little I know of morse code patterns, I attempted to copy what I found and, well...threw it into a morse code translator. I know! I'm horrible. But if anyone cares, this is what I got:
...._..// "HI"
... "SIS"
So maybe some combination, resulting in "HIS IS"? or just HIS something...or THIS IS....

craigamore
MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 9:50 PM@finster1018.............the WOW signal is an incredibly detailed, higly organized, actual signal that the SETI project recieved from deep space, believed to be of intelligent origin.

MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 9:50 PMNevermind...I just saw that it was solved...I haven't gotten the hang of navigating on the message boards-it's been a while. OHHHH I see they've changed the sites background to the website, nice :)

MemberOvomorphMar-08-2012 5:24 AMMaybe im been a little silly here but has anyone tried pluging in their head phones, cranking up the volume and seeing if they can hear anything???, i cant do this as im at work lol..... just a thought....

MemberOvomorphMar-08-2012 6:38 AMIt is way more complicated than you think. The animated GIF has 237 frames with 13 unique colours/codes. I don't think it would translate to a Morse code sequence even if we used bands.
I don't think it is a DNA sequence, but 13 unique codes are close to the 15 nucleric acid notation.
Element 237 is Neptunium and is a by product of nuclear reactors and plutonium production.
Room 237 is the possessed room in The Shinning ;)
And I am sure there is more.

MemberOvomorphMar-08-2012 6:45 AMWhere are you getting 13 unique colors? I have examined the gif and only see three:
White 255 255 255
Grey 220 220 220
Dark Grey 125 125 125

MemberOvomorphMar-08-2012 6:58 AMSorry my mistake. Actually I just looked harder and there are more values of grey with only slight variations. Have you noted the color values RGB or CMYK of those colors. Someone should take the color value and the time duration and plot them in Excel and make a nice graph. : )

MemberOvomorphMar-08-2012 5:33 PMHey guys...where is this GIF of blue baldy...I must've missed it......where did we find it?

MemberOvomorphMar-08-2012 6:07 PMI think the latest discussion on here was about the 237 frames making up the 1pixel blinking star (findme.gif) on the About Us page of Weyland site....
(Blinking Star) The findme gif (1 pixel is hard to see...upper left)
But, here is Blue Baldy since you asked...

MemberOvomorphMar-12-2012 5:37 PMWhite color intensity graph from animated gif frames:

It clearly shows wide spikes and narrow (dots and dashes), so kudos to user who figured it out several days ago.
