1.) The shape of the human space helmet is the defining shape of the Xeno's head. The Xeno is a bio-mechanical fusion of one of the crew and it's suit and some other ingredient.
3.) The Prometheus ship and captain are ultimately sacrificed to stop the "spinner" from reaching earth. The shot of the face of the captain in the trailer is the moment this happens.
4.) The spinner crashing and the crew running from it as it lands is the subsequent scene. The scene with Charlize getting into the escape pod is moments before the scene where the pod is ejected in the new trailer.
5.) Where did that "trunk" on the "pre-xeno's" head come from? It looks awfully close to those space suits behind Noomi, so that may be third ingredient? (reminds me of a movie called "the fly" from the 80's with Jeff Goldblum.)
Just spilling out my thoughts for the trailer of the trailer .... :)

My opinion...

MemberOvomorphMar-13-2012 3:34 PMI am a bit disgruntled that the Xeno's origin is a man. Albeit with a few other ingredients thrown in. It kind of dilutes the meaning of the original movie, that creature was completely "alien" and to know that it came from a normal mere mortal, wimpy human being just doesn't do it for me, neither does the fact that the Space Jockeys are suits. That's kind of lazy plotting, as though Lindeloff is too afraid to tackle what Giger had intended for the original SJ
Just saying.....
