MemberOvomorphMar-14-2012 8:15 PMForgive me if someone floated this theory, but wouldn't it be hilarious if they put the big blue guy in the trailer just to screw with our minds? I doubt that is what they did, but he is so strange and unexpected. They had to know people would immediately react and be like, "why the crap is there a stereotypical blue humanoid alien in this movie"? I know I don't like the idea and am very curious how the heck they are going to involve him in a unique way. He is so...un-Alien! To better phrase, he is so non-Giger. I guess it makes sense to have a human looking being considering the giant head and the movie being about our origins...still it would be funny to watch the movie and go, "wait a minute, where was the big blue guy" =)

MemberOvomorphMar-15-2012 12:43 PMI just hope Scott does a nice job of creating a nice, new mythology. I mean what is the use of a multi million Dollar blockbuster if its mythology is not better than Stargate.
It must be more convincing..having my doubts about ´ancient astronaut theory´

MemberOvomorphMar-15-2012 2:59 PMIt appears to me that Mala'kak has the best synopsis that I have read on this board to date! I can't see why people are having such a hard time wrapping their head around the idea of "the blue dude/SJ/God". He is a bi-ped humanoid being, and this film being about the search for mankinds origin, with the whole idea of; " And God created man in his own image" We would be in the image of the blue dude (possibly the elder god that mala'kak speaks of) but far inferior. I like the idea that the blue dude stole the tech from the elder gods and they tinker and splice and create. After all, they are superior alien geneticists and scientists yet they do not fully understand the full potential of the tech for which they themselves have stolen. (and seems that they have no emotion of fear or disdain for life that they have created). The speculation is killing me!! lol

MemberOvomorphMar-15-2012 8:37 PMIn response to the funny comment about the original movie being about the egg on the original poster:
Lol! I wasn't referring to the giant human statue, if that is what you are comparing to the egg in the old poster. I'm not that daft =) I was talking about the one quick frame in the jockey chamber where you see the guy in the corner. I'm sure he has an important role in the story, but it would be easy to throw him in there to get us all talking and then brush him out. I started this post just as a funny "what if", not as a serious theory.

MemberOvomorphMar-15-2012 8:42 PMOh yeah - someone said they didn't think the statue or the guy we are talking about is actually blue. I agree...I think the light creates the effect.

MemberOvomorphMar-15-2012 9:04 PMMala'kak - Excellent post ! I'm with you 95%. The details are difficult to speculate on, but I too believe there is a higher 'god' at work here. To complete the Prometheus myth we need a Pandora (woman) in this movie to unleash the hellish nightmare that is Alien...

I hope not. It would be awful for Ridley to throw out the fact of human evolution.
It would be as dumb as John Carter on Mars, which looks nothing like mars and seems to have oxygen ??!! dumb dumb dumb

All I am saying [look at it from a philosophic point of view while speculating] is that I found Mala'kak's post really fascinating (and legitimate). And that it was already stated that humans went looking for their origin. entertain the idea, just for a minute = that what the bible says about God creating man in his own image, then we see the bi-ped humanoid in the 1st trailer. Everything we know about the aliens being sexually perverse, and (i wish i hadn't read the fake script), the S/J possibly being the same way. Throw in the possibility that the bio-mech alien we all know could have originated from a mutated human genome. Then the transmision of "We were wrong, we were so wrong" Finally, all the horrific shit in between..........makes the idea that we find our human origin being in deep space, seeding it's idea of life through the universe, uncaring, unemotional, capable of torturing it's lesser creation...just because, and being "God" but the grotesque, horrific opposite of the loving caring God that is believed in every known relgion on earth? -creeps me the f**k out! (i can't wait to see this film!!) .......ALL IMO OF COURSE. :)

MemberOvomorphMar-16-2012 5:06 PM@TKfanboy421 "god created man in his own image" is actally quite modern religeon new testament stuff if God created man in his own image back in the ancient Eygptian Gods or Indian Gods days then man would look very different indeed so I think were going back a bit further than the new testament considering there are eyptian like sarcofagus with hieroglyphs on them in the picture released and the trailer think more BC as a launch pad but perhaps incorporating events that are AD also... It's not going to be stargate 2 or anything but I'm sure the earliest recorded civilised history has to be where the first connections are made
