Ghost Solitare
MemberOvomorphMar-20-2012 4:24 AMThere is just one creepy tidbit in there. TEMPORARILY restart, does that mean you have a limited lifespan once being reanimated?

MemberOvomorphMar-20-2012 4:28 AMInteresting. Maybe just more fuel into the entire Frankenstein aspect of playing god. Could be only a tidbit, but speculating on this with regard to Peter Weyland's involvement in the film is ripe.
Scott and Lindelhof were fairly coy about how Pierce is part of the film. Makes room for all sorts of speculation, but I'd assume immortality might be a goal for someone like him.
I have no idea at this point.

MemberOvomorphMar-20-2012 4:36 AMmmm and David is Peter's bitch ... so David secret agenda can be to find something to allow Weyland a second youth ...but he create a monster ... Peter weyland is the ultimate monster ( and that will answer why Guy pearce is so high actors list )
speculating big time ... ( my first time i apologize :p )

MemberOvomorphMar-20-2012 4:36 AMWhat if... they use the Synapse Reestablisher on the dead Space Jockey?

MemberOvomorphMar-20-2012 5:17 AMI found the list of Weyland achievements generally naif. For example, "method for creating syntethic atmosphere"? It heavily depends on the kind of atmosphere you want to create. And if you are above the Earth´s poles the straightforward way to go is melting the polar caps. In any case you can´t just create atmospheres from nothing.
That list is only a fancy thing and I don´t think most of those things will be important in the movie (except FTL travel that is also pathetically explained in the list).

Interesting. Could it be Meredith Vickers?! She is the company representative. And in one interview Ridley Scott, when asked how many androids there are in the film, replied 'there maybe two'.

MemberOvomorphMar-20-2012 7:43 AMThat old guy is a big piece of the puzzle we haven't figured out yet.
A lot of people have speculated that it can't be Weyland because he would be too old...but they forget about stasis. That timeline never explicitly says that he dies, we just assume so from the "Memorial Library" statement. If you can use stasis to keep a person from aging during space travel, you can use it to keep them from aging for any reason, really.
He gets old, hasn't found the fountain of youth yet, freezes himself, wakes up for the Prometheus mission. Perhaps alien contact was one of the few conditions he put on being awoken.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 1:49 AMReestablishing brain activity is one thing, reestablishing a heartbeat and muscle function is another. That apparent old guy in the trailer looks good to go. Much more than brain activity, hes walking around. My first impression was that brain activity means just that, not full motor functions as well.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 10:07 AMI think this tread is onto something. I think as well, that the reeistablisher will only briefly restart the brain.
I may work for the company, but im really an OK guy.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 8:48 AMMaybe the reason this old guy could be the same person as in the wheelchair at a later point in the film could be Weyland slowly deteriorating as its only a TEMPORARY thing. If Weyland did die then I would assume such a massive thing would be mentioned in the company timeline.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 9:00 AM@Biomechanic, a few weeks ago I would of looked at that and said you're mad.
Now I'm a believer! I mean why can't they "wake" him up when they reach their destination? They seem to have everything on that ship.

Maybe he uses the Holographic Environment Simulator
"Weyland Industries makes first foray into the luxury goods market with its Holographic Environment Simulator. It is the first HES able to accurately recreate the aesthetic, mood and sounds of any place in the known world, as well as provide live video feed from any calibrated receiver."
This got me thinking something in the lines of: Could Vickers be a "suit" for the company in more ways than the glaringly obvious? If I remember correctly there have been talk about there being two "replicants" in Prometheus? Based on some of the dialogue she has, and a brief moment of her supposedly fighting another crew member in the Imax trailer, I might have a point? What do you guys think?

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 4:11 PMoh man, didn't see db73's post earlier...you guys have thought of EVERYTHING haha

MemberOvomorphMar-24-2012 3:38 AMYeah, I could buy into the idea that Vickers is a suit, and possibly a suit for Weyland. Hard to say though. They haven't really shown a great deal of the character. Definitely an intriguing possibility.
