Come Visit So We Can Destroy You?

I find that it doesn't make much sense for a race, whoever they are, the Engineers/Space Jockeys to come to earth and leave all the evidence for various civilizations on earth to find, including the Egyptians, who by the way were very smart themselves, just so a few years later in the scheme of things to destroy us at some point in time. If they have the technology to be there in the past, then I'm sure they pretty much have the technology to wipe us out then if they want. The race visited our planet more than once by the evidence of what Shaw found, at different periods of time, otherwise how would the Egyptians know about it. I really think we are missing something entirely, something we don't know about yet. The Engineers/Space Jockeys have the ability to come to earth at anytime apparently, they did it in the past, more than once. So there has to be something new. I think the race is all but dead and the crew stumbles upon an old experiment gone wrong, and perhaps the old Engineers/SJ's had some type of safe guards that would remain in place in the event some outside source stumbled in. Or perhaps, by getting infected, the crew has a new mindset of infecting others, including earth. What does everyone think?

I just don't follow the logic, some alien spiecies....the Engineers/Space Jockeys had the technology to come to earth in the past and since they came at different periods in the history of the earth, that indicates they had the ability to travel whenever it suited them, not just at the beginning of time to seed our planet, otherwise why would the Egyptians have the pictures? In the scope of the time on our planet, that would be a fairly recent event. Does anyone follow that or what I'm getting at? There would be no reason for them to have to wait for us to get there to wipe us out. They could do it whenever they so desired. I am beginning to believe that it might be a warning to us....not to come there. I also have the belief something went terribly wrong on the planet that Prometheus landed on, perhaps the aliens screwed up somehow or maybe we screwed it up, but I do believe that the Engineers/Space Jockeys somehow let an experiment get out of hand and we might have made it worse. Just some thoughts. I am also believe that it is not the same ship on the movie Alien, nor the same planet. Many reasons for that idea. Mostly because someone had pointed out on a picture of the current movie that where the space jockey sits has three or four additional sleep/cryo units on the same platform, the ship in Alien has none. Also, in the movie Aliens, no one seemed to know anything about the aliens or the ship being there until Ripley told them, then Burke sent someone to check it out. There were definitely none of the Nazca Lines that they found nor the temple. If this is the same ship as on Alien and same planet, then Scott has completely disregarded his own work in Alien and really screwed the fans. Kind of like how the remake of Star Trek has completely erased out almost 50 years of Star Trek history! NOT COOL!!!! We can only hope this is not the case.

Since they visited Earth already, they would already know if we have resources they wanted. They could have taken the planet at any time. Furthermore, if they were really worried about future competitors, they could just put a Xenomorph infestation on the planet of any sentient race. The only plausibly way for Admiral Ackbar to be correct would be if it were part of the greater design of the Engineers. That is, if a race can achieve enough technology to become spaceworthy, then they must be absorbed into the jar collective or what not.

Like most cave paintings, it's merely a documented history. I'm still kind of surprised by all of the assumptions. Evolution--the word people keep jumping over.
