The egg things are also on the "telescope" facing the jockies head.

My guess is maybe they are small baby infants of the xeno or maybe this has nothing to do with the rest of the alien franchise except the space jockey no matter what Sir Ridley Scott says this is an alien prequel

It's almost Easter, maybe The S/J's really LOVE to color Easter eggs!! MAYBE that's why they brought the humans to the planetoid, cause they were out of PAAZ easter egg coloring kits!! no? lol.

Maybe they are eggs. Perhaps when they start out new and small they are lighter in color and darker as they grow. In truth since they hold the facehuggers they aren't really eggs. More like an barnacle where the creature can leave to reproduce.
