I know we talked about this already but its getting out of hand now, the tech that humans have in this movie is to advanced in comparison to the rest of the series, the space suit i can understand, top of the line and for science use, but just look at the interior of the Prometheus, did we really need the clear touch screens? and the holograms? i mean yeah its cool, and we have that tech now, but tell me this, would they really use delicate tech on an expedition to an unknown world? they would probably use hard and strong tech, god forbid something breaks out there, and they did not have that stuff in alien, and yeah i know, truck drivers in space compared to an expensive science expedition, but what about aliens? they were not truck drivers, they were marines, on a military grade ship, they would probably have that teach in the time of Prometheus, and aliens is how many years? 97? 97 years after Prometheus. does not mean the movie is bad, but come on now, we competing with avatar here? In a few years..."Alien" remake. Even the "used universe" can be used in a new way. :)

I remember that in Alien 3, the Fiorina outpost had instant communication with the Weyland network through a thing called Dat-scan. It was like a telex terminal in green phosphorus, but was able to communicate faster than light! Amazing!
In a few years..."Alien" remake.
Watch it happen. All polished with boring side-stories and long "action" scenes with a CGI creature that still looks out of place. Then ending with the youngest, most mentally weak character you could find whose only reason for survival was to not scar the other mentally weak people the studios call 'the audience'. Tore a hole in my heart hearing Ridley say he's over "grunge" but that's what helped make his sci-fis real. It all feeds into the immersion.

I'm in the military. I can tell you exactly why the Sulaco was lo-tech. If it ain't broke and it won't get people killed, don't replace it.

Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

I wish you guys have the same mindset like me. Let my mind blank without anything Alien, let the new Prometheus elements fill in. I just want to enjoy a new movie.

There is tons of old tech still being used. Look at hospitals. ECG, EEG, etc. Still look very old fashioned and half of them are still hooked up to CRTs. Military as well as the gentlemen says. Just because consumer level stuff looks hyper advanced doesn't mean everything goes that way. I have no issue with the "space trucker" vehicle looking like ancient shit. Hell, I think more people outside of fandom would complain if the prometheus had faster then light engines and hypersleep chambers and they used dot matrix printers and crt moniters. People have sort memories. Half the people seeing this will never have seen alien. I see no issue and stand by the comparison I made first page. Just because someone adds a dashboard GSP to their rig doesn't make it super high tech. It's still a 20 year old truck with a GSP. Still looks old, smells old. Like alien. *Note: I haven't seen avatar, nor will I see avatar because the story holds no interest for me and I am not a visual effects type of person.

And remember, the Sulaco was built by the lowest bidder.

Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!
