Religion in Prometheus

Interesting, for such a seemingly advanced race that KNOWS where we humans came from. Who/what is THEIR God?

Perhaps? After all Ridley Scott is interested in religion, remember Kingdom of Heaven?

I dont get that impression. The Temple is just a name for a location . I get the impression they are God, or at least the creators of life, namely ours, the head in the chamber is basically a totem, a marker as such. I reckon the ampules contain all the genetic knowledge to create humanity and more importantly destroy it once their experoemnt has run its course. there are a lot of stories regarding first contact where we are just a sub species until we develop the ability travel between stars and then its a different matter.
I dont think they have religion, I think they are our religion. "Gods and Engineers" said Scoptt way back i think that underlines my interpretation.

Je suis d'accord, et sa ressemble a la religion d'alien 3...mais dans prometheus c'est plus pousser...ca va plus loin que la religion

Sorry mate, but is there any chance you could post en Anglais?, not all of us are fluent French speakers here.

Well Scott said : " Shaw is a beliver , Halloway belive only in science ...both will have to swallow alot "
Rapace said " Shaw is a beliver , her father was a preacher , she is a bit naive maybe "
( ive not the exact words , but the mean was that )

perhaps if anything they worship their own knowledge and intelligence...afterall we are striving to attain it.

"Je suis d'accord, et sa ressemble a la religion d'alien 3...mais dans prometheus c'est plus pousser...ca va plus loin que la religion."
He said: "I agree with you, and it seems to match the religious feel in Alien 3, but Prometheus is much more than that, it goes beyond religion."

Religion is a fun thing, I have studied a lot, and actually as a adult converted to a faith that some think odd. But I think that you will have Shaw and Halloway both with their views, and in the end, the answer will be somewhere between the two viewpoints.

I'm sticking with the idea that the creation scenario is recursive, or something similar. Every other scenario just doesn't strike me as the type of gee-whiz science fiction the filmmakers seem to suggest in there interviews.
We've (human) been through this before. That's what I'm expecting.
I just don't see any other rational reason for the human head monolith. The humans are the creators and continue to create the evolutionary means of their own destruction.
The evolved "children", in turn, create us.
Unlikely, but plausible as a WTF scenario, and I'd guarantee a WTF scenario.

I look for Shaw's faith to play an important role in the film. Where was it I heard that RS himself, speaking of the religious Shaw and a scientific Holloway... "They both have to swallow a lot..."
I know this was mentioned also in a previous thread- sorry on that point, guys. I try to keep it fresh.
