MemberOvomorphMar-27-2012 2:26 PMI've found this If you search Twitter and Facebook for news on Prometheus, you will find a large number of people who claim to be more excited for this movie than THE DARK KNIGHT RISES or THE AVENGERS

MemberOvomorphMar-27-2012 2:35 PMWhat's The Dark Knight Rises? What's The Avengers? :P
I made a statement the other day that I'd go without ever seeing the other movies to see PROMETHEUS now and I meant it.
The Dark Knight - another superhero movie (though I'm sure it will be cool)
The Avengers - (see above)
PROMETHEUS - First time RS returns to Sci-Fi since Bladerunner and the movie is in the ALIEN universe. It really didn't take any thought to sort out what movie would be most significant. It screams .... no pun intended.

MemberOvomorphMar-27-2012 3:43 PMThis movie is VERY exciting for fans of the Alien franchise or Scott's return to scifi, but other than us geeks going on in forums like this I'd be skeptical to say anyone else is excited about this movie especially more than Dark Knight or Avengers. Don't get me wrong, I hope this film blows up at the box office, I just don't think it's gonna happen. I showed the Prometheus trailer to several people, only fans of Alien or Scott were excited about it the others were indifferent which is what I think the box office returns will reflect.

MemberOvomorphMar-27-2012 3:58 PMit won't flop like John Carter as it has a strong Alien fanbase behind it, but it is also not a dumb-fuk movie like Transformers, for today's dumb society (no offense but true)
I say it will make back a decent amount, it's budget plus 50% more, and lots of bluray sales

MemberOvomorphMar-27-2012 4:16 PMYep, same here. Alien fans are excited, everyone else just sees another space flick. If it gets enough hype in the opening days it will do very well. If not, hello BD/ DVD release date.
I'm sure this has been the reason behind the obvious push to distance this film from being called an Alien prequel.
To the average Joe, a prequel to an "unknown" 1979 sci-fi movie isn't gonna make hearts race. To me? Well, I'm here drooling like the rest of you.
