Sexy SJ vs. nasty SJ alien

I think they are trying, if this is the path they are taking, to sell the engineers as perfect beings that are creating the human race. Since the large head in the ampule room is a likeness of them, according to the new Empire article ( a must read) then who knows if they are evil, malevolent, very good guys or just indifferent. Now Henry Caville in Immortals and Superman, that's a perfect specimen. :0)

Agreed...a perfect example of a species. I think it says a lot about just who the SJs are. I think they may be a higher form of human being. On one hand it upsets me that the SJs are not monsters, but on the other I think we'll get our fair share of gruesome monsters in this movie that we just haven't seen yet.

Oh Gigeresque, I like this post. I am in total agreement with you in that there is something "sexy" about the Spacejockey. This has the possibility of being unbelievably frightening with us sharing many of the same features. One wouldn't know what to expect (well we do now a la the Alien(s) films) from a xeno but one would think we'd come to have certain expectations of behaviors from a humanoid....to me, if they are truly not good or accepting they'are going to be scary as hell!!!!!

Even Ash said about the alien that it was a perfect organism. Because it's pure. The engineers are pure and are probably just doing their job when it looks like something got in their way when the crew lands and finds bodies of either them or another race piled next to the door. Yet another sexy mystery!

Geez... all the conflicting ideas being flashed about on this can really send you for a loop. I have completely changed my whole thought behind the premise here now and I am wondering if it IS really more closely related to our Prometheus myth so to speak. I had always been envisioning this as it is the SPACE JOCKEY's who are the Masters and those who had been seeding life throughtout the stars with a grand design behind it all. But... the perfect image of a human head erected as if it is a God to have homage paid to it... In what appears to be a Temple no less, designed around the idea of the creation of life itself?? And this talk of "Blue Man Group" characters (hahaha) and that are maybe "mutating" crew members??? And now heaps of what appear to be SJ bodies... decaptiated as if "executed"?? Could it be that... - The "Blue" beings are not mutating "anything", but are in fact the ENGINEERS themselves, in their natural forms?? - That they do in fact actually see themselves as God's or God-like beings, and we were in in effect created in their image so to speak? But what of the Space Jockey? The Jockey's are clearly NOT us, or the Statue image. - Is the SJ nothing more than a SERVANT of the "God's"... destined to do their bidding and nothing more? Is the SJ nothing more than a convenient large "beast of burden" for the Engineers as most slaves in history were?? And has the SJ ANGERED the "God's" by providing a secret of the "God's" to us, man? and that the SJ's are now going to be punished for what they have done? - Is the future "Xeno" nothing more than something now crafted by the ENGINEERS to torment the Jockey's? To literally "tear out their livers from now until the end of time" for providing us (Man) with the secret of "fire" so so to speak? Geebus, I better stop thinking about this and just wait for the damn movie! Hahaha!

There are those who say that the scientist/engineer is the highest development of the human being. The Bible makes many references to the devil presenting himself as an angel of light and has a beautiful appereance so that many may be deceived.

Yeah, they're pretty buff, probably for a specific reason, one pointed out in this thread Sound mind in a sound body Remeber what Ridley said a while ago: "Gods and engineers" We were created in Their image. But are they also the engineers, or is there something else?

I agree that there may be something above the SJs on the food chain. The round UFO at the beginning of time is not looking like the derelict technology at all to me. There's still the potential for some nasty beasts in this movie. I just think Ridley is not showing it to us. I also think the idea behind this is going to be the most terrifying thing. The aliens are a certain perfection that looks likes it's being carried along in Prometheus with the SJs perfection. Maybe it's us that is the terrifying mutated monster. Charlize is a pretty sexy monster though.

Boy, the right wing religious fanatics are gonna love this. That we may have been created in the Engineers image. But who created the Engineers? Are the Engineers the SJ's? Are the SJ's the keepers of the temples and the Engineers the ones in the saucer above the waterfall? Did they create us as sexual beings which would explain if Shaw was raped or impregnated? Wow

Yeah...I wonder what kind of uproar this is going to cause when it comes out. Human impregnating and birth is just as creepy, strange and violent as the facehugger's. We are just used to human experience.

My mother's pretty devout, and she loves this kind of stuff. Maybe she doesn't get all the sexual subtext. But I don't think she's going to get worked up about a far out sci-fi tale with androids and spaceships and giant stone heads that says human beings were created by bald blue giants.

I happen to be a believer and you don't see me getting worked up...it's a movie and no movie could change the nature of my faith.........heck I'm on here every day AND a member of the staff..........I would hope believers would be able accept that fact, this is just a movie, and not get worked up about it......besides what automatically makes the possibilty of alien life and God mutually exclusive ideas?......the answer.....there isn't one......it's a naturally unproveable concept....why worry about it? I'm not....

If the film does try and touch up the Creation Story. I dont think it will offend masses, some Christains would not even hear about the movie or bother to watch it. You will get some hard liners who would take offence but they would maybe be ofended just as much by other Movies. Such as Planet of the Apes. Provided the Film does not mention or draw anything towards Jesus then its just a Movie just like Avatar.
