What's the point? By the time it comes out we'll know if it is PG or not, yes?

Kane77March 29, 2012
go for R, Ridley..
when it hits with PG it will be a nice family movie evening..hehe

Gimm-eMarch 29, 2012
I don't really care about the rating, as long as it's a great movie. But somehow...I do hope we get an R-rated version in theatres or Bluray. Fingers crossed!
You don\\\'t see them fucking each other over for a goddamn percentage!

HeustessMarch 29, 2012
It'll hit at least in may 30 in torrents, when the French and Deutsch version comes out, if I am not mistaken.
dallas!dallas!March 29, 2012
No, you all must make your point using lines from Alien. Otherwise, this is just another PG vs R cliche.
Something like: The French will have picked up an R rated signal that repeats of intervals of 12 seconds.
De Nada.

ya know, i understand that the economy is rough and the studios need a safer bet to make money but sinceriously Fox. This picture is not a pg movie. It has extremely adult themes throughout and we all know it. This isn't Avatar and dont be surprised if there is a backlash from parents thinking they can take their kids to see this like it is.
Therefore the intended release form should remain untouched.
I mean i already want a PROMETHEUS model to assemble and paint. I'm trying to do my part eh

CrackerjunxMarch 29, 2012
I hope you're right, I really do
:)
p.s. just read an article that Scott says it will be pg-13. blech

Kane77March 29, 2012
@heustess
P is said to start in germany in august not may..
i dont know what country will be first ?

dallas!dallas!March 29, 2012
How can they cut it to PG? They're only animals!
Ooops. That's Aliens. Boy do I have alien egg on my face.
the comingMarch 29, 2012
lol I did start this thread just to use the quote...lol dallas! you got it..
I know you are worn out shape but I need you cool and frosty...we can't let even one of those kids in this cinema...

RuthMarch 29, 2012
@Crackerjunx, Ridley has never stated this so directly. Or am I mistaken?
As long as this is a great movie that will blow our minds away, I'm okay with the rating. But I wouldn't enjoy 18 rating.. I mean it's 18 in my country, and equal to NC17 rating in the States.

SeanMarch 29, 2012
Hopefully Fox learned their lesson with AvP. Fans of these movies don't want PG-13 versions of these films.

the comingMarch 29, 2012
lol@dallas was that a Newt quote? very subtle my man almost didnt get it
"how do I get out of this chicken sh*t cinema?"....if it is a PG

Biehn_BanditMarch 29, 2012
Why don't you put Tim Rothman in charge...of deciding what rating they're going to go with for Prometheus?!!!
centrosphereMarch 29, 2012
I didn´t know "The Matrix" was rated R in america. Why the hell? Was it "stressfull"? Maybe.
Besides, I don´t understand the logic of letting the movie starts in any country before the USA. This is an invitation to piracy and surely a menace to the movie profitability in the major market. Let the film be an R and start the running in america!

RuthMarch 29, 2012
I don't really understand why every movie has to premiere in the States first and then.. elsewhere. America isn't the center of the world, and you can't be aware of piracy even if it starts equally everywhere. And also.. the differences between the premieres are only ~8 days. I don't know what an idiot would watch this movie in a camrip quality. Not a fan, probably.

jujutsukaMarch 29, 2012
You know, guys, I don't know which rating is worse. You don't see them fscking each other over for a goddamn percentage.
Fall down seven times, get up eight.

MarcoBot1234March 29, 2012
Apparently Ridley Scott is opting for an R rating. I think he has enough pull in the movie industry to be able to get what he wants.

jujutsukaMarch 29, 2012
@MarcoBot1234,
That's what I'm hoping. Or how about Fox do some market research and figure out in which theaters they might be able to profitably and concurrently screen PG-13 and R cuts of the film. If they did that, they'd for sure make double money from me, because I'd pay to see both versions. PG-13 first to prime the pump, and then R for the real goodies!
Fall down seven times, get up eight.

RuthMarch 29, 2012
Or they could release both versions and cinemas could allow babies to go to their PG13 and make a late shows of R. Old story and very simple, they would get their money. But I make an assumption that this is never going to happen.
Ghaim OvermanMarch 29, 2012
I'm sorry but if this film turns out to be PG-13 rated...Game over, man! Game over!
;-)
Of course I WILL see it no matter what. But still...

MarcoBot1234March 29, 2012
Ridley Scott has a good enough track record as well as a long enough history in film making im sure he can convince the producers to release the full R rated version.
This is not Hunger Games this is Prometheus, its an adult story with adult themes. Sometimes u just cant make it available for everyone. And sometimes its better they dont otherwise u risk diluting the story.
I mentioned in earlier posts about the impact Alien 1979 had in the theaters when it first came out. Ppl left the theater due to their inability to cope with the violence and horror Ridley Scott directed.
I want Prometheus to be as impacting upon its release (if not more) then its predecessor Alien. Only his 'true' untampered vision can truly and honestly have a long lasting impact that will remain years if not decades after its release.
Sry for the rant.. you may go on with your lives now :)

aintnozenoMarch 29, 2012
I've read two other articles now, both that reference the same Empire interview, and both say the opposite. One says it confirms a PG-13, the other an R rating.
Just goes to show we sometimes read what we want to read.
And all the speculation on earth won't change the first Fox rep's mind... I'll go see it regardless.

Jim100a100March 29, 2012
cutting this thing to a PG rating would be like breathing high concentrations of methane gas...almost primordial

silicaMarch 29, 2012
It's rated R, ok?! Can we end this debate now?!
Im sorry...But, these men are here to make it "G"...so you won't be scared in the cinema.
It won't make any difference.
the comingMarch 29, 2012
You still don't understand what you're dealing with, do you? R Rating. Its structural perfection is matched only by its hostility.

Biehn_BanditMarch 29, 2012
We'd better get back, cause it'll be summer soon, and big budget movies mostly come out as PG-13... mostly

craigamoreMarch 29, 2012
Oh Newt...I mean Biehn_Bandit....Newt...wait, no Carrie Henn or is it Biehn_Bandit? NO Newt...it's Newt.....you're so gosh darn adorable you are........

Biehn_BanditMarch 29, 2012
OK, you're ready to rock and roll.
What's this?
That's an R rating. I don't think you want to mess with that.
You started this. Show me everything. I can handle myself.
Yeah, I noticed [box office returns for The Matrix and T2]
HastaLaVistaMarch 29, 2012
If we get a PG13 rating, I'll do us both. But let's hope it doesn't get to that.
