MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 4:05 PMHello everyone. A recent post about a "deleted scene" made me think of another from the first film. I imagine its on a special DVD or somewhere else but, has anyone seen the alternate attack on Lambert? Meaning, where the xeno crawls like a crab towards her. while it looks a little silly, its also creepy as hell.

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 4:09 PMyeah, we had a talk about it a while ago, but that was a long time ago, and i love/hate this scene. i understand what they were trying to do, make it go towards her in a really creepy alien way, but they should have used puppetry, not the actual guy in the suit because it looks to silly, and i actually laugh when i see it lol but if they pulled it off it would have been awesome, shame they didn't though :(

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 5:07 PMI am firmly in the 'creeped out' camp with regard to this deleted scene, I think it looks absolutely wonderful and in my opinion adds more depth to the xeno 'character'. Let me explain how I see its relevance...
For those who have seen the making of Alien (if not have a scour around you tube) there are outtakes where the actor who played the xeno was filmed only wearing the xeno head and a tight black body suit moving around the set, slowly, very slowly. He practiced Tai chi this dude and he incorporated this into his movements.
All of the above outakes and the crab walking scene made me think that -
a) The actor is struggling to adjust to the costume, and
b) This also makes the xeno appear as being uncomfortable with its physical form or at least, it is trying to adjust to it.
Point b then leads to the possibility that the xeno we see in Alien could be the first of its kind, either by the fact that the species has never used humans as a host before, or that the egg/facehugger/xeno cycle is completely new.
So for all these reasons the crab scene should have been left in, I dont believe it looks cheesy or naff, it simply looks like a strange creature moving in a strange way.

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 6:05 PMIn my opinion this is still a bad scene. Almost as bad as in the original alien when lambert just stands there and Parker jumps at the alien.. Jeez I have to say this is the worst scene in the movie. Who agrees?

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 7:02 PM@Snugs ...
I agree with that because if you think about it the Alien has just been 'born' and so is adjusting to its 'new' form ... hence it's practising to walk, crawl, etc ... it will then find its perfect stance ... FOR KICKING ARSE ...

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 7:20 PMWOW ive never seen this deleted scene! thanks for the post
I do agree the crabwalk in theory is exeptionally creepy and very "Alien" however the execution of this scene could be perceived as cheesy and i totally understand and accept ppls opinions about it
it is cool tho to have the xeno walk like that
