MemberOvomorphApr-01-2012 3:09 PMwhat are you really expecting from Prometheus?
a) a chase em' through the halls, dark, overly hollywood, sci-fi scare fest
for the summer box office
b) a deep, analytical, implicating, thought-provoking, stand-alone sci-fi film for the ages
and no.....there are no "how about option C" passes on this. just answer the question!

MemberOvomorphApr-01-2012 3:12 PMI'm hoping for B. If there is some of option A there, then let it be just enough to add a nice balance to the film, not a gross-out fest.

MemberOvomorphApr-01-2012 3:13 PMAs I've said, I'm pretty much an optimist when talking/thinking about Prometheus, so I expect this to be as much as similar to B

MemberOvomorphApr-01-2012 3:17 PMB is the closest to what I expect, except I think Ridley has 2 more films in the sci fi realm, so I dont see Prometheus as a stand alone.

MemberOvomorphApr-01-2012 3:18 PMI hope it is both and, on top of all, a well-told story. Don't know what "overly hollywood" is, but I doubt it is possible to depict something so epic without the huge budget. I am sure they saved on actors' compensation by passing on Jolie, Portman and such and hope the money they had available was invested wisely. "Indie" definitely would not work for something so ambitious.

MemberOvomorphApr-01-2012 3:22 PMWhen a movie's producers tell us "This is going to set a new bar for SF, be a deep, thought provoking piece about man's place in the universe, with plenty of action!!!!" --
then I pick A with most fanboys/girls agreeing with the producers out of desperation. I mean, c'mon, many people thought Gladiator was thought-provoking, f***ing Gladiator!
Of course I hope I am wrong but I think the better way is to go in with low expectations, no way to be disappointed with A or B.

MemberOvomorphApr-01-2012 3:22 PMGoing for 'B' all the way. Anything else and I will be disappointed.

MemberOvomorphApr-01-2012 9:24 PMIt will likely be both and Im fine with that. Obviously Id like more of B though.

MemberOvomorphApr-02-2012 2:21 AMIt's going to B. Artsy and fartsy...
Except this time I might be exposed to enough pre-content that I won't have to watch it twice before finally getting the gist of it.

MemberOvomorphApr-02-2012 4:58 AMHopefully a lot of B with a touch of A, it can actually go either way, thus still hoping for a dark B noir scary as hell black horror movie lining up to a sequel or directly to Alien. But then again if a whole new SF universe evolves I would be equally happy. I am pretty sure I'm not going to be dissatisfied.
