Were being Manipulated

We all wanted the Space Jockey to indeed be the creautre we saw in Alien.
Why indeed has Ridley put this in the trailer.....something hes not telling us maybe.
Plus....why would big blue man need a short trunk on a helmet? Whats its function?
Giger gave the Alien a jawed tongue to give its long head a purpose.
Whats the purpose of the helmets trunk? And why are the eye holes of the helmet not inline with blue mans eyes?
If it IS a helmet at all?

Yes... I had mentioned that just from the ergonomic standpoint, that "helmet" would not jive with the not-quite right in height, "Blue Meanie".
AND, I had always thought the the little Alien mouth was an extroplation of the SJ "trunk", but who knows.

I did go this route with the Alien being a parasite sort of thing a while back ... so why can't their be TWO species working together as ONE? ...
The images below are mental and are FACT here on Earth ...

When I first heard the rumblings of Ridley calling the SJ fossil a suit, it made me think of flight suits for fighter pilots and their breathing apparatus. It would make sense, especially if the SJ is meant to carry out terraforming on various worlds. The telescope is still what puzzles me though.

Yes, it's a bit disappointing - that it's going to be some giant Greek Man-God or something.
I suppose the trunk could well be a breathing apparatus?
Perhaps the problem all along was that Giger could paint a design like that, but in practice: the creature would appear to be fused with the chair. Unless he was part of some sedentary race that fused itself with it's occupational equipment and was happy to be totally imprisoned if you like - it just lacks believability.

@Time
Well, believe it or not, in Gigers freaked out vision the "telescope" is in fact a giant you know what that literally inseminates life into other worlds!
April 01, 2012
Now that fish tongue thing IS very interesting isnt it?
I still cant get away from the fact that the trunk is still too short in relation to the original. In Alien the trunk was part of the rib cage and quite long. Perhaps Ridley hoped we wouldnt notice lol........remember he hates it when we look too deep lol.
April 01, 2012
Yes, I thought that penis/telescope thing wasn't necessarily a telescope but acted in the same way a penis did, if you get my drift. But how and for what purpose, I can't be sure.
April 01, 2012
Ok ... add that to my list as a possible embarrasing/shock factor Ridley was on about lol ...
Mind you we did discuss this a few threads back that it was some sort of inseminal hyperdermic device ... but not a giant c*ck :) ...

Also, in seeing how the SJ is totally locked in to the chair, obviously it is to keep the SJ from moving around, but either for the rough movement during space flight, or for when that thing bursts from its chest, I don't know. But if that's the case, the SJ knew it was "infected" and locked itself into the chair because of the inevitable. Then, that's when the giant penis comes into play....I don't know, I can't figure it out. Just thinking out loud, so to speak.
April 01, 2012
Man, I'd hate to be that fish.
I always thought, well, always suspected, that the trunk coming from the jockey's helmet worked as a breathing mechanism. Just another part of his space suit.

Always loved this as a proper Alien head ... Giger's original draft I think? ...

Interesting, Gem, because I was curious to see what others said about the giant space-dick theory. What thread was that, if you know? I'll check it out.

@prom ...
Damn now you're asking ... not easy to find old threads on here ... ang1 ... brb ...

hahaha GEM ...
Yes, but weirdo Giger's visions are sort of really apparent. People have been discussing the phallic nature of everything depicted in the Alien films for years.
And there really is no denying that if you look at the Xeno's head in profile... Its a big penis.. seriously.
Another curious thing on this discussion line is that it never occured to me until recently, but the SJ control/chamber/chair is DIRECTLY behind the "giney" slits. Somehow, I had I been confused in that one of the "arm booms" has an obvious canopy structure, but I see now that the the control room and its canopy are directly at the center mass of the vessel, right behind the "giney" slits.

Sorry! I'll find it. Don't worry about it. We need a search doo-hickey really bad on here.
April 01, 2012
K... stick with me a sec here...
So further to my topic on the DNA idea, what if the ENTIRE universe is like a GIANT LIVING THING, and the "tele-gun" firing through the you know what slits is akin to the the act of procreation.
I think everyone was always taking the idea that the "slite" were entering into the vessel, but what if its really meant to be the OTHER way around... that the penis-gun is inseminating its by-design genetic material out INTO the universe which is in effect like a GIANT WOMB??
lolz.. I need a coffee... My mind is racing today.. Hahahaha.
April 01, 2012
ooops.. type up there.. should have been "slits"
And what was this topic about again? The helment right???
Sorry.

Sounds legit @CanadaPhil, my belief-sticking to the whole bio-mechanical/living tissue idea, as we see in the trailer that the S/J suit kind of materializes around the pilot when he is in the penis chair (cockpit) and would become a fixture into the ship, organically. He would be able to fly the ship with his brainwaves and know if there was an issue with the ship somewhere because in theory, he would be part of the ship-(keeping with the original parasitic origins of alien)
I posted in another thread about the S/J helmet being skull and organic flesh that encases the pilot like the aliens in ID4, therefore being a bio-organic spacesuit cable of protecting the pilot from all environments alien to his own. (ideas on my opinion)
