Well where to begin. . . Firstly, surely the markings we saw in the trailer that Shaw said were an invitation mustb e wrong?? Either that OR, they are an invitation and the Prometheus crew do something wrong to the SJ's which makes them get hunted down/experimented on etc?? As why leave invitations all over the planet, just to then massacre those people when they follow them?? Ideas??

I would have to study the trailers (again), but weren't each of those ancient cultures wipped out? Their dominance ended (king died).

The cave markings appear to have been made by humans. Perhaps this was information dispersed as mythology, originating at one source and carried to other parts of the world through human migrations. The fidelity of the proportions seems unlikely but not impossible. Also, Shaw admits "We were so wrong." Perhaps she was wrong about it being an invitation in the first place. History may have erased the original motive for the star map. As in "Alien" it may have been a warning.
