This is not regarding ancient alien B.S. theories, but if you don't open your eyes and want to go that route, beware, we all might end up dealing with holy inquisition courts and witch hunts once again and pretty soon...

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 8:10 AMWhen you compare some of these ancient cultures you realize they're talking about the same groups of beings in completely different locations, with names that aren't always linked etymologically, meaning less chance of cultural transmission. The same traits end up being applied to these groups in their myths and written testaments. And we definitely see the coming down from the stars/flying "object" aspect many times; Followed by an earlier awareness of astronomy in those same cultures. The Sumerians knew about Pluto even though we don't consider it a planet now, and it wouldn't be seen with a telescope for thousands of years, even being a semi-recent discovery in the 20th century. What intrigues me is India and Egypt (as well as Greece/rome via transmission) also make references to lost island empires of advanced hominids that had colonies here and their own versions of flood stories.
Stories depicting what we think of today as the grey alien show up cross-culturally as well. Most recognizably as the ant-people or the Anasazi in native American folklore that helped the ancients escape the flood by burrowing into the Earth and the Grand canyon and teaching them to carve their ancient stone cities. These guys were sometimes at war with the tall bearded men some of the ancient meso-Americans saw as gods, and taught them to fear/worship them as gods.
Even in the ancient hebrew bible (before translated) there are so many clues, some that survive and become part of the old testament, other translations, and make it into the new testament even. Originally there was not just one god, and the main god was female. Jehova sounds like he walks around in a giant robotic suit... and some of the choirs of angels meant something completely different.

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 8:18 AMIf this situation is goes where I think it could, a TRUE world war will ensue. And by world war I mean war on EVERY land mass on the planet. Not just Europe or something.

anyone that can't (or won't try) to understand someone else's point (or belief) and thus feels any need to insult it or belittle it, just devalues their own opinion.
Whether you take any explanation from science or religion it is all a matter of faith (for example you have faith your car's wheels go around when your moving in it) or there is some afterlife and all have the right to believe whatever they wish whether the reason is a negative or some glorious realization!

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 9:11 AMi WELCOME ALL OF THAT BECAUSE IT SHOWS JUST HOW CLOSE MINDED FEAR CAN MAKE PEOPLE BECOME. That said, I respect all of your opinions and do not mean in any way to demean the validity of any of your arguments, I just took 50 years to make up my own mind about him and his book and after watching the entire ancient alien series to date i am convinced, as mentioned that we are going to find out one day long after we are all dead and buried that on at least 75% of his speculations he was closer to the truth than anyone else ever was. Science itself, the very existence of this discipline, BEGGS US ALL to take his ideas to heart and explore them as deeply as we can...Mankind has longed for truth since it's inception, it is part of that which we value most...to ignore his writings on this subject would be to do a dis-service to the art of discovering Man's Truth's.

MemberTrilobiteApr-04-2012 9:44 AMHow have I missed out on this, LOL(rubs hands together)...
1. Religion - Metaphors, Parables and Fiction written as a guide on how to live ones life, ordained and written by a select few as a means to cater for the many. Problem - writings are so open in their interpretation, they are often used to fuel mankinds worst moments (Crusades, World War Two, Bosnia, Extremists etc.)
2. Science - Evidence, Observations and Records meant to reveal the universal truths of the universe and all within, studied and taught by a select few as a means to educate the many. Problem - Theories, ideas with no foundation can be considered "proven" through selected criteria, debunking criteria that disproves the Theory.
3. Ancient Aliens - Artefacts, Writings and Beliefs meant to fill in the gaps of our understanding both in the past and the present. Problem - Most AA subjects of interest can be explained away by scientific means, but a select few remain unexplained and unexplainable without AA.
My belief is that Religion is well intended but often abused by manipulation of its texts, Science is the search for truth but is often used to maintain/create ones position within the elite scientific community and Ancient Aliens tries to explain the mysteries of religion with the principles of science, but often resorts to the grounds of science fiction.

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 9:47 AMwhy would we lock it? just cause someone doesn't agree? You guys are completely free here to express your views and opinions, no worries, not taking anything personally at all, just how i see things and how you guys see things and as long as we respect each other there is no reason to worry.
@ Knorbuffel...
If you are truly having trouble understanding what I wrote I can suggest a good English course for you...do let me know. LOL.

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 9:54 AM I don't believe religion and science are mutually exclusive at all. The idea that you have to choose one or the other is a false choice. To me science is a pursuit of truth and that in no way diminishes my belief in God, rather it enhances it. I think it's very important for people to keep an open mind, but that applies to both religious and non-religious people.
Also it was mentioned that religion celebrates mankinds differences- true to an extent, but peace and love are also central to many relgions. Sadly, mankind can take what is good and turn it into something evil. We can use just about anything to divide us, religion, science, politics, whatever. Anyway, I don't see celebrating differences as inherently bad in itself. Afterall, people are individuals. In fact, viewing people as individuals rather than groups would be greatly benificial. That doesn't mean we shouldn't celebrate what we have in common and seek common ground as well. Anyway, sorry for the rant. Doesn't have much directly to do with the movie, but I figured I'd give my two cents.

MemberTrilobiteApr-04-2012 10:06 AMThanks man, I call it as I see it - I don't follow any religion, I don't idolize science and AAT is merely a possibility that may explain elements of the first with ideas from the second.
Don't get me wrong, I believe in God, afterlife, heaven and hell, Aliens, Black Holes, Wormholes (grey holes IMO, but that's another discussion) etc. I have an open mind, just not a gullible one.

Alien DNA
MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 1:07 PMmw3, there is no fact that when your dead there is no afterlife your just dead, just as much as there is no fact there is an afterlife. We can't prove either, you'll just have to find out after you die what the facts are as we all will.
However if there's an afterlife I get to tell you I told you so! LOL

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 1:22 PM"I put no stock in religion. By the word religion I have seen the lunacy of fanatics of every denomination be called the will of god. I have seen too much religion in the eyes of too many murderers. Holiness is in right action, and courage on behalf of those who cannot defend themselves, and goodness. What god desires is here
[points to head] and here [points to heart] and what you decide to do every day, you will be a good man - or not"

I reject god claims because god is irrational and unproven. And I reject ancient aliens because that theory is completly unfounded and unproven.
Just... stop watching history channel please. That channel is poison to the minds of our youth.
