Is Prometheus Scientology?

No, it's nothing like Scientology.
I am good friends with Tory Christman. She goes by the name of ToryMagoo44 on YouTube. She was very high up in the church for 30 years and escaped out in July of 2000. The church attacked her for leaving. She is now trying to help people that have gotten out because the church goes after anyone that leaves or says anything negative. She has helped reunite families that were separated because of church policy.
You can Google her story or just talk to her directly though YouTube, feel free to ask her anything, she will usually respond and she is very open about stuff. **She isn't against the teachings of the church btw, she is against the negative aspects of it.
If you want to know about Scientology she is the one to ask. :)

awesome...I remember walking down young street in the neighboring city, sorta, of Toronto a bunch of years back and they were recruiting people off the street and inviting them first to come in and see L Ron Hubbards' Books, think there were just two at that time. They set up a little shop along this popular downtown Toronto street and this was how they were spreading their gospel.

The church is still recruiting, but they are having a very big problems with finances because they have sued the living cr@p out of anyone who questions them, even if it's innocent as in the case of Debbie Cook. Debbie was a very high ranking member within the church and sent mail out in Dec with a few ideas, and the church attacked her.

That you Svanya, as i was saying, while I might think they are full of Bunk, i respect that the beliefs are not harmful to society, even if the organization of the Church of Scientology is.

@Zedwarson; Np, and yes it's not the teachings per se, it's the abuses that happen within the ranks.
@Spartacus; Here is yet another link, very interesting stuff, and please just talk to Tory, she will be happy to chat.
Here is a very informative series she started to help people understand Scientology: Scientology, series. ** Again, she isn't against the church, she is against the abuses that happen within the church.

very interesting that she would recommend something written about brainwashing in China...very very interesting stuff...despite all the strangeness and lingering thoughts I have of Travels to and from Alien Planets, Oprah Winfrey's Couch and the end of days here on earth.

Wow it's amazin wht ppl believe. Really amazin. I am Christian Yes I believe in Jesus as my saviour. I know that when ever I pray specially when times are tough things always seem to work out. There is a higher power it just can'r be fate or good luck really. So to each his own. I do believe something happened that made us humans different from the rest of this worlds creatures. I also believe that its not entirely impossible that ther can't be other extra terrestial life out there. Really with more than billions of planets out there? Who ever created us created other creu$atures too. Someone is watching. I know it.

I really really like the thinking of those that believe that G-D is something that exists on an individual level... inside...each of us. As for it being one single individual that created the Human Race... this... I find very very hard to stomach.

@BigDave,
I have read both the Bible and the Quran and the books of many other religions and myths. The Bible is like a condensed history that contains wisdom that you can use to inform your life. There is nothing new under the sun and if you behave this way the result will likely be that.
There was a one season show on HULU called "The Booth at the End" in which a man gave advice to people who asked for his help. My interpretation is that he had a great knowledge of cause and effect. For any person to get what they want they need to do what he suggests. Do this, get that. Cause and effect.
The Latin word Religios means "what came before" or tradition.

Yeah i do try and beleave in a God, but then my rational brain looks at all evidence and i find it thus hard to beleave what some Science and Religons are saying.
Thats before the Hypocracy.
I would say i follow a more Spiritual/Inlightenment than any religon, i do find the Ancient Astronaught theory does have some weight. But we cant prove any beleaf really.

Funny enough, my faith actively expects that there has been, and will be other intelligent life in other planets. In fact, its one of the issues that separates us from other Christian denominations.

I would say no but definetely inspired by it. I see the cross the main character wears and the comment "and who made them?" as direct replies to the scientology bs. I thought it was visually brilliant, I loved the analogy between GAnesha and the helmets (out of principle I ain't spoiling so vague) and in essence I liked the experience of the movie. But for once, just once, can we get past those weird skulls and genetic manufacturing of humanity as scifi story and get back to massive machine gunning of nasty aliens or that nasty suspense you also got in Prometheus the moment they enter the ship. The whole god thing is a bit pompous, a movie shouldn't always answer existential questions because in no way it can coherently answer such questions. I liked the ride of Prometheus but ever since the Matrix directors are either blatantly promoting scientology or trying to outphilosophise each other and factually try to answer the hardest question there is. Ridley Scotts answer was that there's no answer just a new barrier to that answer and that's deep.
But I couldn't help but yearn for a bad mofo to step out with some heavy artillery. I also get that when I hear and see Scientology people. They are commiting blackmail on a massive scale. They lure you in with celebrity and contacts next get you to spill your guts and next blackmail you and take over your life. I don't do churches, I picked up the books and made up my own mind.
