Sorry if discussed before etc etc, but IMFDB shows that the guns used in Prometheus are ‘Walther GSP Experts’… They do look sort of cool I guess…

Heres a bit of trivia for you guys... The "Pulse" rifle in AlienS was nothing more than a Remington shotgun fastened together with a Tommy Gun !!

Reminds me of a German lugar (luger?). A James Bondish German lugar. Didn't Connery use a lugar in some of those films? Or at least take a photo with one?

Not referring to the color, just the shape.

Bonds gun was generally the very underpowered Walther PPK

I grabbed this image from google, they have obviously altered the gun for the film, I dont think they would use the sport grip on them at the moment...

CanadaPhil I see. An image of a Bond holding a gun with a similar shape just came to my mind the instant I saw it.

Yes.. the posters with the long barrel gun. They were mostly for show purposes. He would have looked a little goofy holding the little PPK in a poster.

Its only an air pistol, I think there's a story that goes with it...

Yes... I think the story was basically subliminal... "Hello ladies... yes look at me... I have a very large Tally Wacker!" Hahahaha. Seriously though, I LUV the 60's Connery Bond flicks!

That gun is a very accurate pistol, though I like the older ones with the more "classic" look. However it is a .22 pistol so not "High powered", but still would not want to be hit by it.

Here is the bond air gun story "The original vendor, who was commissioned to shoot the images required for the publicity campaign for the second Bond film From Russia With Love, explains in his accompanying letter that "it was decided that for the main image in the poster and advertising campaign what was required was a strong portrait of Sean Connery as Bond 007, with his Walther pistol" He explains further that when Connery arrived at his studio for the shoot, it was discovered by publicist Tom Carlile that no one had brought the gun needed for the shoot, the synonymous small Walther automatic [Walther PPK]. By chance the photographer practised air pistol target shooting as a hobby and had the gun he used for this purpose, also a Walther, at the studio "it was decided that - without telling Sean or the other representatives of United Artists - we would use my pistol for the pictures and presumed that should anyone have doubts on their seeing the name Walther on the gun, they would be reassured

.22 virtually useless for stopping power at distance but a DEADLY choice for close up assassination work.

I think like with a lot of sci fi films, they're just trying to pass it off as some futuristic space pistol or a 'pulse pistol' ;-)

I know this has "prolly" been mentioned before but one thing that makes no sense to me is that everything {all the tech/uni's/enviros} in Prometheus look ten times more modern than everything did in Alien. It is the ONLY true and valid critisism of the film I can make so far. & Everything else I have to say about this whole thing is entirely positive.

@jim jimmer... Yes, and all the patent notations for new small arms and other weapons tech in the "official" Weyland timeline I think are meant to convery that they had and were developing weapons with much more accuracy, longer ranges, and hitting power. But honestly though.. That would basically probably be like a "pop" gun in a fight with a Blue Meanie... or.. something even BIGGER??
