You know that feeling you get when something is one the tip of your tongue that you've been trying to remember/solve, well I'm getting it with Prometheus. Here's the pieces of the puzzle...
1. At least 5 Harkonnen Castle inspired temples, presumably each one with a big head and lots and lots of mysterious ampules.
2. A big pile of dead Space Jockey's

3. The Derelict, underground in a purpose built hangar.
4. Shaw giving birth to an unknown organism.
5. The Xenomorph depicting mural.
6. A big, blue humanoid inside the Derelict and attacking the crew.
7. A mutated crew member attacking the crew.
8. An Eel/worm based organism infecting Holloway.
9. The crashing of the Derelict.
10. The invitations left behind on Earth.
11. The UFO at the waterfall.
12. And finally, Ridleys comments in Empire magazine about an intelligent race on Earth before the fossil record.
I have all/most of the pieces of the jigsaw, but its just a hairs breadth out of reach, I know if I can just find the common thread I can figure this out...

kool!!!! i have to say though looking at the trailers and i know many of us had come to this conclusion but watching it again i dont think shaw is giving birth to an unknown organism. it looks like someone is trying to inject the organism in shaw. also we have no clue as to whose suit it was that the eel/worm organism got into. we do here cut it off in the background, but we also here it was in my throat....and we have someone who looks to be burning from the inside out. the attacker is obviously human/or was at one point.

SpartacusApril 04, 2012
yea I think that thing is going to infect and kill everyone except for Vickers and David.
fanboy79April 04, 2012
looking at the trailer again at whatever point that shaw gives birth or is injected with foreign organism, she makes it to a room where scientist or other crew members look up as she enters then collaspe to her knees, just wondering at what point of aciton this takes place. I must say i am concerned with the pacing since from what we are told someone bits it at 28 min of the film.

GavinApril 04, 2012
@ Sparky - LOL
One thing that is puzzling me is this...
I think it's fairly safe to assume that the UFO at the waterfall is not technology of the same race that built the Derelict, therefore two separate races, but...
...Why would a race seemingly responsible for helping mankind point them to a system, what is the purpose of the invitation? To kill us off, I doubt it!
Why are the SJ's there? Why do they become hostile? Are they the guard dogs, do we p*ss them off? Why are so many of them dead, who/what killed them?
fanboy79April 04, 2012
i definitely think vickers is a android esp the way in one of the trailers she is slamming david into a wall and since we know she is a rep for the company, she is the only one from the trailer we see make to what i suppose is an escape pod...and her behavior throughout the trailers are standoffish and ridley did say he advised her to use the shadows and corners for her scenes def something there excited!!!!

SpartacusApril 04, 2012
wow if it is two races, two completely different races YOU JUST DID IT FOR ME
YOU COMPLETED THIS PUZZLE
what if...these two races...war each other over whatever reason...and this is the GREAT AND TERRIFYING BATTLE from the synopsis...the missing piece...is this BATTLE over the FATE of EARTH !!!

SpartacusApril 04, 2012
They must fight a terrifying battle in space to determine the fate of mankind because Prometheus does what it's namesake did...
commits that one act...that one original sin.
They steal the VIals under the wrong pretense and that's what...
"I was sooo wrong" means !!!
The VIals never should have been touched if not for that misinterpretation.

GavinApril 04, 2012
@ fanboy79 - Regards the worm thing I suspect that Holloway looks at that saucer and reaches over to it, the "Eel" attacks him through a rip in his suit (maybe actually ripping his suit) at the arm and infects him in some way, leading to the a scene later where he notices something in his eye...
But how does it infect him and why? And how does Fifeld get infected, is it in a similar way or different, if so why?

GavinApril 04, 2012
@ Sparky - too obvious and too AVP.
The vials puzzle me, what is their purpose, why are we guided to them if not to study them, what do they contain that is so important for the ancient invitations? Why are the SJ's protecting them, especially if we have been guided to them?
@ Fanboy79 - I think the Vickers thing is a ruse. In a good whodunnit the first two suspects you can eliminate are the most obvious and the least obvious. Having Vickers stand around in corners and behave "off" is a distraction, to avert attention away from the real suspect.
fanboy79April 04, 2012
theory....the space jockeys are some what like the watcher....if you read comics....watching over the universe. advanced peaceful beings, who eons ago discovered the parasitic dna of the aliens and witness first had the aggressive nature and sent centuries to this particular outpost to guard them. the markings arent invitation but a warning. many have said that they dont believe this is same planet from the original alien, but i think it can be. from the trailer some type of weather event happens sand storm or intended obliteration of planet who knows

SpartacusApril 04, 2012
HAHAHA AVP ...PERHAPS...BUT THAT WAS THE BASIC IDEA OF THE 2ND LEAKED FAN MADE PLOT OUTLINE AND I HAVE STUCK TO IT ALL ALONG...IT STILL WORKS PERFECTLY. EARTH ESCAPES SOME SORT OF MAJOR XENOMORPH INDUCED TERRA-FORMING DISASTER NARROWLY IN THIS THING OF THIS MUCH I AM QUITE CERTAIN.
fanboy79April 04, 2012
i love the war theory, only thing i wonder is it is a war then the alien/xeno must have some type of intellect, be able to travel through space pilot ships and the like.....

GavinApril 04, 2012
@ fanboy - I have that same feeling regarding the "we were so wrong" statement. The recent trailers have pushed the point of an invitation, so it's a possibility.
But the SJ's don't seem to be at all peaceful in Prometheus, but the idea of guarding the Xenomorphs to prevent them being unleashed is an interesting idea, if it were not for the Derelict taking of (presumably towards earth) with the Xenomorphs as cargo. And again, why are there loads of dead SJ's in the temple. And then theres the signal in Alien.
The SJ's what is their purpose in all of this, why are so many of them dead and why attempt to attack Earth?
fanboy79April 04, 2012
the weyland corp is always in the background doing something low down.....building better worlds my a$$ lol...in the first film they wake the crew to investigate distress signal...knowing it was something else which i assume this film will prove......2nd film terra farming a colony on a planet they suspect to have alien life form.....3rd film tracking down ripley cause they knew all the events that took place bet the end of the 2nd film and the start of the third.....(ripley carrying a alien seed)...4th some how finding ripleys blood after she had been infected/impregnated and cloning her and developing the xeno as weapons....damn Weyland corp!!!!!!lol

SpartacusApril 04, 2012
there not really xenomorphs I believe until the Vials are programmed first somehow for that species...it's a selective space jockey/engineer thing I believe that they do at the moment of decision to unleash the selected method of terra-forming which first Kills every living organism on said world before making it habitable again somehow...just another theory expanded upon from that leaked plot.
fanboy79April 04, 2012
@snorkelbottom
whats strange to me is if the space jockey is the creature they show in the trailers everyone of them is a bald humaniod, but the chair and the head that shaw and the scienctist are examining in one of the trailers is like some sort of helmet...so how are we assuming that all the dead bodies in the corridor are space jockey bodies.....is there a still where this is evident???

Biehn_BanditApril 04, 2012
I think there is/was a war between the blue guys and the SJs you see dead in the trailers. Or between the SJs and some unseen race. The blue guys, if they are all built the same as the one in the trailer, are too bulky too be the more slender looking SJs.
Or, as has been speculated in the past, there is some really dangerous new alien that is able to cleanly decapitate a SJ.
All of this has been discussed at length in the past week. I also believe that the alien resin will play a part in this film, and it's possible that's what is in some of the urns. It's ability to build structures and create organic life would be of interest to Weyland

GavinApril 04, 2012
@ Sparky - I ignore all fake leaked scripts. You should know that by now.
@ Fanboy79 - I believe that the "company" element will be born in Prometheus. I suspect they become small players in a big story, of big proportions, and the Xenomorph is but one
@ Kane77 - I don't doubt it, but we have enough of the beats, the elements, of the story to piece 95% of it together. The only thing that's missing is the WHY, and we just need to figure that bit out.
fanboy79April 04, 2012
@spartacus
okay so the space jockeys are space travellers who have designed the alien to wipe out planets so they can inhabit them.....that could be true sort of disappointing being that most alien movies are about sliens wanting our planet :(, but the whole vials being program thing is definitely interesting, this means that the alien that comes from a jockey will be distinctively different than one from a human, dog, horse, etc.....the only question is if the xeno were desinged at what point of their evolution where they able to procreate on their own....is there a queen somewhere down there??/

SpartacusApril 04, 2012
Ok...so we feel some kinda WAR figures into this somehow and that "Prometheus" gets into the middle of it....fair enough...and/so... what comes next..?...

SpartacusApril 04, 2012
fanboy, love it, your post is saying the same thing better than I did, let me think it over a bit and thank you...awesome post.

SpartacusApril 04, 2012
@"snorky"-> And I go with whatever annoys you in particular the most and makes sense to me. you should know that by now !

Biehn_BanditApril 04, 2012
Looks like the war has already been fought, with the SJ suit looking guys losing. Now that leaves the blue guys, who I believe are either benevolent or practical; the squid/worm-like organisms; infected, mutated crew; the rumored "super" alien.
the blue guy is either helping David with some goal or acting on his own outside of the crew's conflict with the organisms and infected; or acting to stop us from spreading to other parts of the universe that we have discovered from the star map.. The organisms are either something the crew lets loose from the urns, or are already lurking around (in the trailer we see some alien goo being stretched between two fingers, so these things may be skittering around leaving goo trails behind, like the original Alien). The infected are infected by something in the urns. The jury is still out on the super alien.
fanboy79April 04, 2012
looking over the trailer again i am convince that shaw is not giving birth if you freeze frame that thing it is entirely too big to come out here stomach and her not show signs of a basketball in her belly and whoever is holding it is at her head as the chamber she is encased in opens....thoughts

GavinApril 04, 2012
If we work on the principal that the invitation was in fact a warning, then we can assume that the warning was "let sleeping dogs lie" - in other words don't go there, else face the wrath of what sleeps there... the Space Jockey's. But why are they asleep, why point us there, why all the dead SJ's.
But, if it was in fact an invitation, which also makes sense, why are the SJ's there? To guard, to protect. Guard, protect what and why?
fanboy79April 04, 2012
the goo between davids fingers has to be some parasidic dna cause it is the same substance that is in some type of dish on top of one of the urns as one of the crew members looks it over and there is a scene where david has his face over the same goo but it looks as if it is dancing check out the trailer.....i think this substance in its original form can bond with anything synethic or organic maybe that is why the space jockey is a biomechanical being like the goo fused with david ....maybe that is him in the begining scene where the voice says "every king has his reign, then he dies..."

GavinApril 04, 2012
@ Sparky - LOL
@ Fanboy79 - the leaked trailer showed Shaws stomach inflate suddenly and a umbilical cord can be seen in the new trailer.
@ biehn_bandit - I also suspect the war is over.

Biehn_BanditApril 04, 2012
Or it was neither invitation or warning, but the doing of the artists who created the pieces. The dot formation is buried in the human subconscious, crossing cultural lines. The artists themselves didn't even know what it meant, but they were compelled to put them down anyway.

Biehn_BanditApril 04, 2012
The goo is the same stuff the Xenomorph secretes to build eggs, walls, cocoons. We see in Aliens how it begins like a gel and eventually hardens to something resembling fiber class. How do you think they were able to convert the atmosphere station into a hive?
I believe Shaw is using the med station on herself. Why create such a device for a film and not have it relate to the plot in some significant way? I believe she detects this thing in her body somehow, whether through feeling or seeing it under the skin, and uses the med statiion to remove it.

SpartacusApril 04, 2012
Ok so the war is over, maybe that can help account for the severed head in med lab...LOL.
fanboy79April 04, 2012
okay lets work on the invitation or warning theory here...one thing is for certain......some other life form once maybe not necessarily inhabited but visited our planet, that being the case i dont think invasion is accurate because they had already been here hundreds and thousands of years ago. what we have to consider here is that at some point we have developed the technology to travel eons away trips that take years...this particular journey takes 5 years travel time.....

GavinApril 04, 2012
@ biehn_bandit - I agree on the goo, its not important, but a sign of life.
@ Sparky - My thoughts exactly.
Well one things for certain, the temples are Space Jockey in origin. I just rewatched one of the new trailers and the same markings found on the temple walls are also found on a switch that opens a door - David in front of door with a red scanning orb hovering beside him.
So why would the UFO guys invite us to/warn us from a SJ planet.
and what of Ridley's comments in Empire magazine, about an intelligent race on Earth, before the fossil record.
odmanoutApril 04, 2012
i think its good not to assume shaw gives birth or has something grown inside of her cut out. there could be numerous things going on there but i get the feeling that weyland and vickers are behind it. i do remember reading about charlize theron having an idea for her character that they used in the movie. i dont remember how it was worded because it was almost a year ago when i read it but, she described it like a plot twist for her character arch. as if there was a different motive for her character all along, and thats why ridley put her in the corner of scenes and made her look like she was "lurking". anyone else remember reading that? maybe this needs its own thread.

SpartacusApril 04, 2012
Snorky...In just asking you hit/slapped that biaaaatch...a "warning"...why...they have some vested interest in Earth! Maybe they need some element they are running out of or some same ol same ol like that.
Prom_queenApril 04, 2012
Are we convinced that the big blue dude (or dudette) is evil? I know we are led to believe that by the trailers, but I hate to jump to that conclusion just yet.
