MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 7:10 PMHi folks,
as far as I know, the missing scene wasn't added to the movie until a later edition (2009?), but I most definitely saw the Dallas and Brett cocoon scene in a cut of Alien that they showed at our school film club years ago. I remember it clearly. This would have been somewhere in the mid-80s (in the UK). How was this possible, I wonder? I'm not sure where the school got the film from (and it was a reel film set on a projector). It irked me ever since, as every time I saw Alien after that, the scene was not there.

AdminPraetorianApr-04-2012 7:14 PMI posted a link and long explanation to that in another thread. I forget which one, need a search engine!!! XD
As far as I know, Ridley never wanted that in the lore and he deleted it for good. What scared me about it was that the Alien didn't need a Queen to reproduce.*runs off to find the thread*
Here is a link to the original, deleted scene *Click the blue writing: Alien, deleted "Egg" scene

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 7:20 PMSo, if it was deleted, how did I see it? Very odd. There must have been at least one copy out there with the scene still in. Wonder where that is now. Hmm.
Things like this really perplex me :o)

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 7:23 PMUncut version, saw it on VHS. You might be able to get it on eBay. That part followed the book. The books, in my opinion, were better. (especially Alien 2, since it explained how the aliens got to the outpost)

AdminPraetorianApr-04-2012 7:23 PMIt's on the DVD I think. I'll post it again, but really wanna find the original post/thread I made here. :(
From what I understand, Cameron invented the Queen. (Giger liked the design of the Queen Alien). Here is the link to the thread *finally found it*. Deleted Scene Thread

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 7:27 PMThe Quadrilogy boxset (and now in single DVDs) has that deleted scene in the Directors Cut version. On the extras disc for Alien, Tom Skerrett said that it was cut because the scene slowed down the pacing of the film. He seemed disappointed about the cut :(

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 7:30 PMI had it on a DVD since 2000... oh and saw it in a book early 90's
Ghawd knows how you saw it, lucky maybe?

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 7:33 PMIt may have been on VHS too. But, I didn't see that version. It was definitely a reel projector version probably about 1984/5.
It does slow the pace a bit. I remember also reading the book and it worked really well there.
Thanks for the thoughts. Just got on my nerves that I knew that scene was in the film that I saw originally, and then I never saw it any time after that, until recently. I wondered if I'd imagined it for a while. :o)

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 7:37 PMFound it...unsure if we can do links here, so google this: watch?v=5rLnDtuQrtE -- it's the deleted scene from Alien. (Dallas cocooned)

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 8:14 PMThanks Jeffster. Yeah. I've seen it now. It just eluded me for about 27 years lol :oD
It was definitely there. Shown from a projector. Back in the 80s.

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 9:24 PMTook some googling re-wording to find it. I almost thought I was losing my mind, because I recall seeing it and I was 100% sure it wasn't the book...but I hit some gold. Second time today. Not alien related, but years ago I watched this movie with the first girl that...I....well, anyway, movie name evaded me for years..I googled what I could remember, no luck. Finally found a top 10 of a certain genre, and there it was...lol. Twice in one day...man. 3 years of searching for that one movie, and somehow coming here got me to figure out the proper words.
