Well, like it or not, its the corporations that actively discourage long movies. They hate 3 hour runtimes. It means they have less showtimes they can squeeze in on any given day.
I would LUV a 3hr Prometheus... There is certainly enough ground to cover in it, but I dont think it will happen.
Im gonna say 2 hrs 22 minutes tops.

agreed Zeta! it would be great if they played that old cartoon "lets all go to the looooby!"

I am gonna say 125 mins.
I don't expect anything too long but I am hoping for 150 mins and an R rating, we have to remember that the studio is going to want the maximize profits, and in the end, Ridley will care about that too.
Either way, I am betting the Blu-Ray release will have some extra scenes in it...Scott's movies always have some extra footage thrown back in on the DVD. KoH is a great example of this, and made the movie MUCH better.
So I am hoping that as much of Ridley's vision is kept in the theatrical version!

Before there was even talk of a sequel to Prometheus, didn't Mr Scott mention that he wanted to make two movies... maybe he has? Perhaps he's merged two story lines into a single epic movie - I can't imagine two+ hours of crew members rummaging around temples and killing stuff. There MUST be something else seriously deep and involving. Hope so.

Someone tossed out a length of 190 minutes. I am hoping for that but well, i doubt that will happen.

The movies not out yet but I'm already looking forward to the Blu-ray release - maybe the full cut, and all those extra goodies : )

I bought the new issue of EMPIRE magazine; awesome holographic cover and great coverage of Prometheus. The cast give their perspective on the movie and Sir Ridley Scott answers all the questions you could ever ask! Definitely worth the cash:
