Yeah the second imaginary plot hole was the most upsetting to me. The part where the thing was like all crazy and the guy went, "Blaaaaaargh" and then the ship ran out of gas and whats his face got mad at the robot.

yea i know, but this one is dear to my heart as i think it is for all of us on this site. I understand the theory of this being a stand alone franchise, but it can also be the bridge that connects and repairs the Alien franchise all together esp after greedy hollywood wrecked it with the execution of bad sequel choices. There is so much mythology that has to be explained and i am sorry but i want it in all of its gory details Rated R and 3 hours scare of the unfaithful ....lol

I feel left out because I'm not pissed about anything. I wish I was!!!!!!!
Let me try, fucking stupid rocky planet!!!!!!!!!!!! Where is the beach GRRRRRR!!!!!!! I hate rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

whiskuzApril 10, 2012
I know, I'm just kidding. The good news is that if this makes tons of money, there will absolutely be some good R rated sci-fi made by the studios because of it. Perhaps even a sequel will be R and there should definitely be an unrated version on the DVD. This genre has to prove it's a money maker before the studios start throwing money at sci-fi films.

The next thing they could do is put a white phrygian cap on the head of the SJ and call him Jockey Smurf.
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

Biehn_BanditApril 10, 2012
The studios are not going to spend 150 million on an R rated movie, unless it's a sequel to a huge blockbuster, and I highly doubt it even then.
whiskuzApril 10, 2012
Are you guys aware that the studios probably said PG13 or no movie? That's what happened with Guillermo Del Toro and At the Mountains of Madness (James Cameron was going to do FX).
Be happy he agreed to a PG13 rating because otherwise there would probably be no movie.

allinambercladApril 10, 2012
@ Biehn_Bandit
I heard it's a lot more than that: and you are absolutely right.
Priority 1, is Return on Investment.
I'm just glad to be getting a movie of a type Ridley wanted made - not some hack, to hack up the thing even more than it's been hacked already.
mw3April 10, 2012
i think this film is going to be a big let down......i can already see plot holes no one makes good films anymore.......i think he's well past it now maby is shoud give it up,,

"The Little Bastards" will still get in as Ridley Scott put it. I mean look at Paranormal Activity and some of those other "R" rated movies. Made well over 200 mil. Now adays an "R" rating puts little restriction on those youngters. I mean I saw a whole family with young 10 year old kids go to see The Grey with Liam Neeson which was rated "R". Unless a rated "R" film has excessive violence and nudity most of the time kids will be able to get in unless the workers at the Theaters make it an effort to not to let the youngters in like they did with Project X. Many times they only need a person around the age of 18 to get them in. Its not THAT diffucult. So either way if its PG-13 or R we are still bound to get those little eager 13 and 14 year olds in the theater.
I just want everyone to be happy...is that so wrong????
As Shaw would say..."You're wrong! You are so wrong!!!!" LOL I've been saying for a while...no matter what Ridley/the writers/the studio/etc do...they will not make everyone happy. That's inevitable.
and I do feel left out now that everyone seems to be going ballistic. I WANNA PANIC TOO!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

allinambercladApril 10, 2012
My cat just keeps mumbling about "Ridley Scott" and "jive sucka"?
When I queried it he savagely scratched at my eyes so I leave the subject alone.

Werthers OriginalApril 10, 2012
All my cat will say is "who the f@ck decided to write Jar Jar Binks in the script'

SvanyaApril 10, 2012
Well, at least we can take solace in the fact that he will no doubt release a directors cut. :/

Hail the Pope Shane I
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.
whiskuzApril 10, 2012
What if Ridley applied the same concept he is with the Prometheus story to an in depth exploration of said Jar Jar Binks character? Man that would be unbelievable.
Ben Affleck and Taco Flavored kisses can write it and act in it, like Gigli. Best. Movie. Ever.

i feel your pain fanboy79...i really do...
at the same time, if a great film is great,
it will not matter what the running time is or the rating
ALIEN (1979) is almost part of my soul, it's burned deep into my psyche,
and PROMETHEUS seems to have awoken a childlike excitement i have
NOT have for a film in decades - - - D E C A D E S
although i would LOVE to hear that this new film is 2:30+,
and has a solid R Rating, if that doesn't happen, i will have to put my
absolute sci-fi / horror fasciation trust in Sir Ridley, and hope against
all hope, that he can deliver the goods like i suspect he can with what
is allegedly a 120 min / PG-13 rating for now
if not, then we can look forward to the directors cut on Bluray
hang in there fanboy70, you're not alone...

alteredstate.April 10, 2012
Well i cant understand anyone being embarrassed by scenes in a pg 13 film due to their horrific nasty nature, which is what ridley said so i'm staying hopeful.

alteredstate.April 10, 2012
I wish somebody at the ridley / lindelof Q and A had asked the right questions like what's the proposed film length and what are you hoping for in the rating stakes instead we got some guy waffle on about making films in Egypt lol
