VICKERS / DAVID "SIBLINGS"..?

reading the theory that Vickers is possibly Weyland's daughter, and since Weyland considers David to be his "son / legacy", would it be too far fetched, to imagine that Vickers is a less successful android model than David turned out to be...? the new footage that was revealed today, suggests that Vickers is "cold" while David is more personable, could it be that Vickers was sort of a failure to make an android more human / emotional, and David was more of a success...? that Vicker's emotional programming finally kicks in when she is experiencing dire dread towards the end of the film (when she's panicking in the corridor / escape module) and also, when she initiates a physical altercation with David in the corridor, of which i feel the words "A King has his reign / etc... is what Vickers tells David in a way to exercise her fledgling emotions in her jealousy of David being considered Weyland's "son" i could be completely wrong here, just speculating is all...

I wanna see this new footage. :P Seriously though, there were 7 other David models, you never know, maybe she is one. They both have perfect, uber blonde hair.

I'm beginning to think Vickers may be synthetic, but isn't aware of it... The other crazy thought I had was that she might be a human, but with latent pre-programmed DNA from Engineers/SJs whatever. We supposedly have a lot of 'junk' DNA, and maybe it comes active based on certain environmental inputs of which she may or may not be aware.

I think the dynamic between Vickers and David will be a major plot point. David, being one of the first droids, is mainly just a butler to serve the crew. While Vickers is a more advanced droid with a definite agenda, a predecessor to Ash. I think she resents David because she feels he is less important than her, but is still loved by Weyland like a first born child. So ya, sound like sibling rivalry.

KD - Ha! I've only seen a couple of the supposed leaked scripts, but there was an interesting longer one I read last summer that I haven't seen again since. I just keep thinking a central theme in this thing has to be creation and the question of being self-aware. One thing that stuck out to me in the recent descriptions of the footage was Weyland commenting about Dave having no soul. What if our ideas about our creations (synthetic humans) having no soul has a parallel or perhaps a mirror to our how our creators think about us being lesser beings because they created us. I want this movie to be smart and surprise me, but I have some doubts...

there are a few things that make me wonder about vickers 1.) she wears a similar uniform to david 2.)however, she hypersleeps during this era when david doesnt appears to, unless he wakes up prior to the crew, also ash and bishop did hypersleep too 3.)in the imax or uk trailer, cant remember, she tells them if they go down there they will die- to me, that is more ripley-like than the shaw character, ripley was very cautious and skeptical 4.)I think vickers may be human because of her attempt to escape and abandon the rest of the crew, wouldnt think synthetics would do that...even early models....but her icy demeanor does remind me of ash

@cursum_perficio... I think it's interesting how she is the only one to wake up on her own, and the only reason she escapes is to preserve what information she has gathered to report back once she realizes Janek is set on taking down the derelict.

Well, you could hardly pass for human if you didn't join the rest of the crew in hypersleep, and never ate or drank anything........I dunno, it just seems like they've deliberately dropped so many hints about her character, that it might be misdirection. It seems to me like it would be more unexpected if one of the warmer, "human" characters turned out to be an undercover android with a company agenda. Who knows, maybe the Sjs employ androids, or perhaps Scott was being cute........I mean, it [i]could[/i] be argued that engineered, biomechanical organisms (ie: the SJs ) are technically....androids.

@Svanya.....not so sure about that. Michael Fassbender likes girls of color. Google his ex-girlfriend (they were together for a long time) I think she's some sort of Asian. Whilst filming 'Shame' he dated one of the black girls who was in the movie. Charlieze Theron is sooo not his type. Doesn't mean she didn't want a piece of him...who could blame her? And she's all up on him not vice-versa.

what also compels me to wonder about Vicker's "humanity, is that she seems to have been the first to awaken from cryo-sleep on her own, and while some of the other crew can barely regain their usual composure, Vickers is doing aggressive pushups as if she were somehow more than human compared to the rest

Even if Charlize wasnt his type, you know he wants a piece of that! And you cant blame him. Just because hes been with girls of colour in the past, doenst mean he doesnt like someone the complete opposite(blonde white girl). He could be like me - likes girls of colour and blondes most...not much interest in white brunettes. Who knows?

Recall discussing this, and it seems everyone keeps forgetting the other possible dynamic: Vickers is an enhanced/augmented human--or cyborg if you want to call her that. This would create a dynamic contrast that I'd love to see play out in a film like this. It comes at a question from an opposite, but equal viewpoint: What is a human? Where are these lines drawn? Augmented. It explains every question about Vickers that I see being tossed about. Just my guess.

@Melkor....really? His last girlfriend wasn't blonde. He also "dated" the black girl from 'Shame'......how do you know him. I'm not being condescending, I am truly interested. How does he feel about redheads? Cute ones ;)
