That mural one is certainly interesting. The hole is pretty much where the jockey's tear is located in Alien, just extended a bit more.

Hey Guest, want to add your say?

Kane77April 11, 2012
@whydont
It dont make sense at all because I would say in the upper left corner that is a ribcage..almost Xeno..
NoXWordApril 11, 2012
The background of the big painting looks like the background in the famous lifecycle painting.

Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.
WhyDontTheyFreezeHimApril 11, 2012
@Kane - Yeah, I agree...but I was talking about the humanoid figure! I mustve thought you were too. Ignore me lol
Cant wait to find out what this thing REALLY is! Ive had enough of guessing for now.
NoXWordApril 11, 2012
@Kane
I thought the ribbed feature to be a ribcage at first glance, but it actually appears to be above the shoulder, rather than below the armpit, it seems to be in the wrong position for a ribcage.

WhyDontTheyFreezeHimApril 11, 2012
@Necrofan - Now that you mention it, I can see that now. I was trying to see it before but for some reason I couldnt.
So the thing that looks like the humanoids right knee(which I thought for a second was an egg) is his guts, right?
@NoXWord - I had the same thought too. Its a VERY strange image which makes me question that what I outlined may be just my imagination. Hopefully Im close though.
Anyway, what do you guys think, is this a painting or a 3D sculpture...or maybe even something like a projection image? It looks flat like a painting in some parts but 3D in others.
jimmydelarojaApril 11, 2012
Hi guys. here's is a small enhancement I've made...

Ethon the RipperApril 11, 2012
@jimmydelaroja nice job, and look at the mouth of the creature, has some tentacles or appendages, very similar to this image:

WhyDontTheyFreezeHimApril 11, 2012
@ Ethon the Ripper - The "tentacles" of the mouth in that image are exactly what I imaged when I made my red outline. Thanks for sharing!

Ethon the RipperApril 11, 2012
@WhyDontTheyFreezeHim Thanks, and yeah, apparently the great Giger has put much of his art in this film.

BellaisanAlienApril 11, 2012
I'm wandering from this whether the creature to the left is the original Engineer that visited Earth, whom changed humans DNA?
Perhaps a bond between the creature and humans created some sort of super-being that controls the Engineer? and that being (probably big blue) is a bit of an arsehole and when discovers Earth wants its resources?.........
NoXWordApril 11, 2012
May I bring once again to your attention the bakcground of the painting?

Giger's Alien Lifecycle

I'd say veeeeery similar
And if you look at the surrounding features you keep spotting more similarities.

Shilliam WatnerApril 11, 2012
@jimmy
great job. That creature is in a squating position with his head bowed. Look at the eyes on the side of its head.
WhyDontTheyFreezeHimApril 11, 2012
@NoXWord - Great eye! Looks VERY similar indeed!
@Watner - Definitely looks like his head is bowed. But where are you seeing his eyes? Same place as my red outline or somewhere else?
ShinobiX9XApril 11, 2012
In the last Q&A with RS and actors i got the impression that the drawings were to attract humans to that Planet, but they why, would be completely wrong. and then chaos

The only view that looks anatomically correct is this:
- the body lies on its back , slighty twisted to us. the ribcage then makes sense
- then the upper arm is draping over the ribcage, looks correct
both arms are detailed xeno-featured if you look closely
- the under arm is a bit long, but correct
arms have both spikes coming from his elbows.
see what I mean? ( sorry fpr crappy pic)
but
no legs
whose knees?
the thing Prometheus sticks his arms into unclear
ShinobiX9XApril 11, 2012
no the arms go around the knees. like when you sit on the floor, knies under chin (against chest) and arms around legs

BellaisanAlienApril 11, 2012
@ShinobiX9X, I think it's all got to be a trap, we are cattle for the Engineers....... their reproduction must be similar to the Xeno - they need our bodies to live - the Xeno IMO is created through a pure chance of the fact that Holloway is going through the initial changes and gets 'jiggy' with an uninfected Shaw, the baby is the progenitor to the Xeno - attacking the Engineer that pilots the ship and whatever comes out ceates / lays all of the eggs.....
NoXWordApril 11, 2012
@Kane
I can see what you mean now. That would make a bit of sense, but then there are no legs and the head would be at the far left, in the darkness.
All in all the squatting option seems to be more likely, with the left elbow being symmetric to the right one, the "ribcage" being just a feature over the shoulder and that thing you describe as the left arm being some sort of shoulder bone like we see on the original Giger's Alien.

@Nox ...
Nice eye mate ...
You guys sure that's not Weyland and his dog? ... :$ ... ;) ...
Jokes aside ... it's looking more like David the more I look at it ... but how? ... I have no idea ... could even be Holloway? ...
WhyDontTheyFreezeHimApril 11, 2012
@NoxWord - I looked closer at the Gigers Alien life cycle and compared it to the mural wall and I now think it is without doubt the same background! -

Again, GREAT eye my friend.

GIGER IS BACK!
Or someone ripped him off...

Gem]n[April 11, 2012
Ok ... so we may have an animated Mural of a life cycle of 'something' ... not necessarily the Xeno at this point? ... or is it just a tease? ...
NoXWordApril 11, 2012
What I really think (I have posted it already somewhere else), is that Ridley Scott has been waiting all these years not just to get back to sci-fi and answer some questions, but to use all the ideas, visuals and material he had ready for Alien, but that couldn't be put in the movie because of limited budget.
What happened on the Nostromo was developed and filmed, everything else (on LV-426) was dramatically reduced. So he was looking for a good story to resume everything.
And because the Alien was on the Nostromo, and got under the spotlights already, it is not going to appear in Prometheus.
That's why we see all this stuff from early scripts and preliminary sketches.
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

Ethon the RipperApril 11, 2012
There are several possibilities:
1- The life cycle may be part of the so-called "Alien DNA" that only the eagle-eyed fans may notice, as well as Easter eggs.
2-Another possibility is that new monsters or even the Space Jockeys have a life cycle similar to a Xenomorph only this time a smaller scale (with parasites or microscopic worm) as the words of David: Great things have small beginnings.
By the way @NoXWord nice eagle eye

silicaApril 11, 2012
The croucher looks like what Fifield becomes.
BTW, are there no 'females' in this species of Engineer?

CanadaPhilApril 11, 2012
Interesting...
The "creature" at the feet of the "Blue Meanie" is basically a dead ringer for the HEADLESS JOCKEY is it not?.. And I guess this image DOES CONFIRM that we are in fact dealing with at least 2 distinct lifeforms... 1 Master and 1 Subserviant or Slave?
The "artwork" if you will almost appears to be depicting a scene of a "fall from grace", and it appears that the large being is basically powerless in relation to the humanoid?

Just to refresh everyone... Here is the head from the huge corpse the team come across. Does everyone still think this is a "helmet"....

In the trailer, Shaw is staring at these images and remarks "they're changing"
1. The paintings are changing?
2. The figures in them are changing?
and she's crying.... I have often thought why is that. Is it because she's seen the true meaning of these and the earth paintings.
I agree it's very all very similar to Michelangelo's work in the Sistine Chapel, although it would have more in common with "the Last Judgement" than "The Creation of Adam".
In the picture showing the 3D hologram of the temple, we can see the centre chamber is this room, showing the column, and from it rises the shaft to upper levels, which appear to spiral out. based on the scale of this room, those spiral levels must be huge.
SHEPMOTApril 11, 2012
Could the [ manlike ] being be holding back the beast/alien from attacking him or perhaps blessing him, even showing his dominance?
Shinoyami65April 11, 2012
Is the Xenomorph mural next to this one? I think I can see the edge of it to the far right. Or maybe this mural turns into the xeno mural towards the end of the film?

Merc7April 11, 2012
There seems to be a familiar pattern on the humanoid's legs. And look at its protruding eyebrows, just like the large head from the ampule room. Space jockey?

MentosApril 11, 2012
Haha! So those are the murals Giger has been creating? They look fantastic.
"I brought him in, I showed him what we were doing, showed him the story and he liked it a lot. So he's doing a little bit of work for me. He's been doing some murals, big murals, which we'll see in almost one of the first chambers we encounter when we land where we're gonna go."

@Canadaphil, could be a "living" helmet turning into some kinds of facehugger after someone messes up that place?

ShinobiX9XApril 11, 2012
@ mark: i just think it's an old painting detoriating
@frantz: what do you mean?

FrantzApril 11, 2012
a question ..the image is the final stage of the changing ? or is the start ? .... "changing into what ?" ....
