That mural one is certainly interesting. The hole is pretty much where the jockey's tear is located in Alien, just extended a bit more.

. "Mural" looks like greek temple pediment artwork..Apollo at temple of Zeus-ish?...

-But keep in mind that the Greeks were the first to put man in the center, so this would be at odds with the spirit of the theme i would think...
- Something interesting to see is that "Apollo" is not as composed and in control, he seems to be struggling a bit...

FrantzApril 11, 2012
I mean ....Shaw say that the walls are changing ...the image of the man with the "beast" is the original wall or the changed wall ?
ShinobiX9XApril 11, 2012
good question, that temple is kind of alive.
the wall keeps changing, the head moves...
it's a very developed script isn't it
anyway, maybe it's not original nor end, maybe it just keeps moving/changing?
MacsApril 11, 2012
Ok, so this puts the last nail in the coffin: The jockeys or engineers, or whatever they are, are not "Gods" at all. They are just another species a bit more advanced than us, and with the capacity to be just as vane and nasty as us it seems....

FrantzApril 11, 2012
hummm then maybe the jockeys did exterminate the blue guys ( the slave that rebel to the master ) ? And the identify us with the blue guy ( and myabe they are not wrong since we are descendants ) ? And they want to exterminate us too ??
ShinobiX9XApril 11, 2012
Hmmm, i never thought GOD(s) being anything else but a more advanced lifeform......
@Frantz, so now the the spacejockey is not the blue guy with a mask anymore?

SvanyaApril 11, 2012
Oh so beautiful! Like a Cathedral or the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

CanadaPhilApril 11, 2012
@ Frantz...
I dont know about that. It appears from the images released that its the big "elephant men" who had their butts kicked.
Look at this pic detail (think GEMini originally did this) where they find the decapitated one (as if executed). This looks like a last stand to me. And pay attention to the doorway gates appearing bashed in/knocked down. Appears to have been a huge fight or struggle. It doesn't look like the "Blue Meanies" lost here...

ShaneApril 11, 2012
I don't think it is giger. The background might be but that is not his monster design. Have a flip through carlos haunte blog and pictures. The style the shapes are done in look way more like him.
The alien-looking mural from that other one, that looks more like the Giger contribution.
And I still don't think what is on the engineers arms is the jockey thing. the headshape looks different. the crouching creature growing out of him face bends inwards where the jockey mask goes outward.

FrantzApril 11, 2012
In the slowmo trailer ....the sequence with the jockey suit opening ... we see that the creature inside have an horrible skin ...like the "black veins" have totally overrun the body ( just think about the image of the imax trailer ) .... in the mural we see that the standing humanoid have some parts of his body covered with black veins ... what if the other creature is not a "slave" but is one of them now completely mutated by the "black veins " ?
Because those "black veins" must have a big meaning with the movie .

Ghost SolitareApril 11, 2012
Hmmmmm, and Eve was made from the rib of Adam while he slept, only Eve looks like a monstrous bipedal termite of some sort.

I for sure see an elephant trunk coming off of the beast face. It tucks off the face and behind the right arm, and then pops back up near the blue man's leg. I'm pretty confident that we found our sj here. The relationship here is questionable, I'd say they actually look friendly with one another here? The other ideas of Master and Servant would work too... Obviously something went wrong here? Maybe the sj's have been looking for man for some reason other than to kill them?

ShaneApril 11, 2012
Yeah I see the Space Termite/Bison thing. I don't see the trunk.
I am going with pet/favourite weapon sort of angle on this one.

CanadaPhilApril 11, 2012
Space "Termite"... the temple mounds, the internal structure of the temple mountain literally looking like a HIVE on the 3D scan.
Yes, I dont think there is a coincidence here, with there being a termite/hive type of society with respect to the very large "Elephant Men" (just going to refer to them as that for now).
BUT, there is one thing that this mural makes very clear... This is the first time we actually see what appear to be 2 distinct species in the same frame! which at least at this point CONFIRMS for me that "Jockey" & "Engineers" are two different things altogether!

Space JockstrapApril 11, 2012
Giger's "Primitive Creature".....note any similarities ???

humanityFTWApril 11, 2012
Very interesting pic, and explanations here, i noticed that many believe the humanoid to be superior and uses the elephantine creature as a slave. But part of me looking at the expression of the humanoid and the pose of the elephantine creature thinks instead it could be pity and maybe remorse.
At first i thought the humanoid was a "she" not a "he", thinking it repressented an angel or maybe a saint like many christian paintings. If indeed it was a "she" could this not tie in with Gigers artwork of the Alien life cycle? (At the top you have the "mother", its here somewhere)
And this "mother" in our case could be Shaw. Anyone?

@ Canadaphil "at least at this point CONFIRMS for me that "Jockey" & "Engineers" are two different things altogether!"
This does seem the likely answer here.
It appears like we have a subservient or conquered elephantine race.
We know the chair is designed for this creature if it was 'elephantine mans" ship or if they were just used in the chair, we don't know.
I think they are scanning a skull in the medlab of this creature we see suits laying around everywhere.
The plot thickens....I'm drooling..
NecrofanApril 11, 2012
I see the silhouette of a bird of some kind on God's chest, its head just above the wound.

CanadaPhilApril 11, 2012
YES... I have always felt that we were dealing with "master & servant" situation here, and I think the "telescope/chair" was SPECIFICALLY designed for our "Elephant Men", and they are NOT the pilots of these vessels.
The "Blue Meanine" or whatever we see attempting to use the chair in the trailer is clearly NOT meant (to me anyway) to be in the chair.
I have a very specific theory on what the chair mechanism actually does... but I did not want to reveal it yet.
: )

Here's what I think is happening. This is a visual representation of the humanoid using his DNA and that of the creatures to create something that is a mix of the two. Obviously, this thing's arms are not reminiscent of the SJ, but if you look at the legs, they look human. They're tucked up to the chest and there appear to be knees that function like the human knee. So, I think by showing what the creature's original limbs probably looked like as well human legs, it is supposed to communicate a forced evolution.
The other element that makes me think this, especially that the evolution is forced, is the humanoid's stance as well as the fact that his hand seems to be fusing with the creature. Both emphasize the point of connection between the two creatures.
Consider the SJ, it seems like a pretty obvious mix of these two creatures, right? Proboscis with roughly human legs, arms, and hands.
I'm assuming the humanoids and the SJ are not the same thing and that a bio-mechanical suit isn't involved.

FREEZE!April 11, 2012
@Membrane, you nailed it. Actually you managed to show more of the trunk than I saw. Great job!
@SpceJockStrap, nice find. That creature was really scary in poltergeist!
@CanadaPhil and Progeny, looks like we are all the same page. Elephant Sj, and Humanoid engineers.

Maybe we are dealing with two different races but why would there be those suits standing like statues behind shaw in the picture from awhile back if said races where enemies or had a fight?
http://www.geekrest.com/2012/01/new-still-of-noomi-rapace-in-prometheus-details-on-scope-of-film/ (the second pic down, sorry i couldn't get a link put there)
I don't care if its Carlos Huante or Giger really, I just hope we see a few of these murals all morphing and telling a story. I don't think I've ever seen either artists work being portrayed in this manner.
I think I was looking too long at the mural but I started to see some blond hair on the humanoid form. Another thing is I kind of see these humanoids looking almost perfect in physicality, like one would think of Gods. I believe David is sculpted this way too. I hope David dosn't become some mutated whatever but I do think it's a bit coincidental.

I don't think those are suits. I think those are statues. I would wonder why their suits are just sitting out in the open and not tucked away somewhere, given the level of technology.
With respect to their artistic values, we know there are giant carvings and murals in the temple already, why not statues?
I don't think there is a good argument as to why they couldn't be statues, but I think that fact that all of their other technology seems to be tucked away or built into a room supports the idea that the suits probably wouldn't just be sitting in a hallway.
Just my opinion.

... so it looks it was not eagle who ripped Prometheus liver ? Something else probably ? He could be Prometheus after all right with this injury ?

BigDaveApril 11, 2012
Well when i saw that first image i had a idea..
But then seeing the other posts where you highlight what apears to be some kind of creature that does look like the Giger Primitive Creature, and so i think thats connected.
This means what i thought the very second i saw that Mural Shot is wrong.
But here is what i thought anyway...
Before this new image we saw 2 Murals in the Trailer, with the crew sayings "Its Changing" "Changing into What"
Now i thought that the one we saw the wall changing into something, the other scene we saw the Xeno Mural.
Now we now have this new Image.
This is the idea that came into my head, the crew walk into that room and see the Wall Change into that new Image, and then from that to the Xeno Mural.
Which made me think does this show, some Humaniod Touch Something, that then changes him into the Xeno?
Look at the Headless Jockey, some other thread speculated and showed a leaked gif of what looks like a Egg with something comming out of it, what if thats not the Jockeys Head, or maybe it is.
And something jumps from that Head/Egg or what ever and infects a Human, who then changes into the Xeno.
Maybe thats what that Mural is showing us.
My theory would only work if indeed that latest Mural Image does change to the Xeno one we have seen before.
But then looking at the new image it looks like some kind of creature that the Humaniod is touching or trying to keep away from him.
The Cave Painting scene does show a tall humaniod pointing to the Stars and seems to be pushing at bay some kind of beast.

Someone had mentioned these aliens being vain and I do agree that they seem to like conveying who they are. A huge head in their image, morphing murals depicting them, and a huge mountain or whatever that seems to contain these things. This species seems to think they are important and maybe they are but to what extent I still don't know other than they are in this movie.
I think that this mural depicts the humanoids being dominant over whatever that other thing is in the mural.
PER5E5April 11, 2012
I believe the creature is is in fact a SJ without an exo-skeleton and the mural is depicting how humans possibly ruled over the SJ's at one point (hence the SJ's reason to destroy earth with xenomorphs). It appears to me that the limbs of the SJ's are tentacle like as he mural shows, such as the snake like shape we see being placed in within a glove in the trailers.
In conclusion the real Alien bad guy this time around are the SJ's.
* Forgive me if this has already been discussed, I am new to this forum and am relatively new to being fanatical about the universe of Alien.
Any thoughts? Cheers

kellicottiApril 11, 2012
Here's my theory: That the humanoid isn't MAKING the xeno, but is taking its energy. I think it's dying and the human is taking the remaining energy it has left, perhaps to morph into a more full xeno (as seen on the mural image in the trailer). I think it's the other way around (not like most think, that the human is creating the xeno) due to the fact that the human is more illuminated than the xeno, if that makes sense. Also, the human is only partially complete, the "arm" attached to the xeno has not completely formed.
If the man was creating the xeno, then there would be more evidence of xenos being present in the temple. As it is, it's all humanoid. I think taking energy from the xenos allowed the humanoids to become a more powerful creature, and thus have complete control.
I mean, think about it, the humanoids are HUGE. Xenos: HUGE. SO, rereading the posts, I think you were thinking along the same lines, BigDave.
Also, I agree with whomever mentioned that the "suits" are actually statues. That was my first thought as well. Suits doesn't really make sense, there's only two...and in the middle of nowhere, not in some supply room.

SHIT ! that Poltergeist from Giger is cool..I remember now watching it ..must be from the 80ies..

I remeber, this creature was the priest taht transformed into this monster and was creeping across the floor..uuurrrrh
the temple has a design is kinda inspired by gothic cathedrals, more that DaVinci, really ! It is NOT very renaissance like..
it even makes sense if you look at the biomechanic structures working as ribbed vaults like in gothic architecture..

CanadaPhilApril 11, 2012
OK, Im still not going to give you my whole take on this, but I will try to give you a couple hints as to what I am thinking.
Food for thought...
The "Jockey" is the literal "Prometheus" of our story. He is a Titan, but not quite a God. He is subservant to the God's (and there may be several different ones!)
Now, Im going to skip over a lot of the in between for now, but think on this.....
The turntable/gun mechanism of the alien vessel has been designed as BOTH a means of life creation/birth while at the same time being a method of CRUEL PUNISHMENT for the poor "Jockey" who has done wrong! And he and his fellow kinsmen are going to have to endure this punishment over and over again until the end of time!
Now my first clues for you... I wont put direct picture attachments in this for now, but most of you will probably be familiar with what I mean when I describe it...
Notice how the tube like devices/attachments at the bottom of the "Jockey" chair spin along with the chair and actually LINE UP with connecting points at the bases of the 4 Sarcophagi attached to opposite corners of the turntable.
Now, do you see how adjacent Sarcophagi LINE up with each other on each diagonal... As if one is an ENTRY channel and one is an EXIT channel?
Does that get your little hamsters on their treadmills going yet??
Hahahaha
whiskuzApril 11, 2012
@wgfkas
What you have circled as the head is the left knee, and the top of your torso section where the humanoid's hand meets the other creature is the head.
whiskuzApril 11, 2012
Oh shit...wait a minute. A bunch of people have mentioned the holes in the sarcophogi...those holes are placed pretty perfectly for a chest burster to come out, aren't they?
Maybe those sarcophogi hold impregnated lifeforms.

CanadaPhilApril 11, 2012
Sort of... The hole in the top is simply meant to INSERT whatever material the ENGINEER has decided to in any given situation.
But I meant the lower bottom corners of the pods which would line up DIRECTLY with the channel like tubes on the bottom of the chair. As the chair swivels and locks in place on the turntable, these channels now form a connection with the bottom corners of the Sarcophagi.
Do you get what I mean now?
PS: I honestly CANNOT BELIEVE NO ONE HERE has noticed this until now !!!!
I really need GEMinis overhead turntable shot to illustrate this, but I cant find it right now. Will try to add it here later.

I have to say the "elbow thorns" looked familiar and the long hands..
Now this may just be my mind wandering I seem to see ..things...but

We got some elbow thorns in that pic? Watch the gif

enceladus_is_aliveApril 11, 2012
Please...it Morphs / Changes. It may show more than one creature. It may be trying to tell a story that humans can understand (or the individual viewer - Shaw) understands from their personal life experiences.? Maybe the Humnoid / Jesus , but if shown as Xeno it would repulse the viewer (Shaw) too much to comprehend.
