What busted out of the SJ in Alien?

Nostromo
MemberOvomorphApril 11, 2012860 Views10 RepliesI hope the prequels will address this in some capacity. Granted, whatever busted out could have been dead long before the Nostromo came a knocking but I would love to have that answer, as well as many others.

After hearing Ridley suggesting that the SJ was just a suit, I kind of felt sorry for the little hatchling. After punching out of it's host, It was trapped inside that suit. As everybody assumed that the hatchling was proportionately larger than the familiar xenomorph, this may not have been the case. It might have been trapped in there with whatever wears the suit, having to sustain itself on it's host until it was strong enough to break out through the retaining ribs.

Judging from the trailer, it looks like maybe the white squid thing. That thing came from something that was wearing a way different suit than the crews' suits, so I'm speculating it was an SJ.

A way different suit than the rest of the crew. YES, the dark gray one as opposed the more brightly coloured standard crew ones!!!
And who was that.... the old PETER WEYLAND !!
Wake up everyone!

Intriguing possibility. That suit (somewhere in one of the recent threads there is a great still shot of the suit and squid) doesn't look man made. It's heavily armored and has gears near the elbow (biomechnical?). Could that be Weyland?

Im pretty sure it is.
There is a shot of some of the crew in suits with old Weyland all together in the same frame. I have no idea where it is on the site now, as its so easy to lose track of topics on here, but Weyland is in a darker, more rugged looking suit.
I think this suit was designed especially for him as is very frail at that point and it enables him to walk more easily.
Maybe someone nows which shot I mean... They all seem to be entering the equipment bay on the P.

I'll bet that old fart is already on the planet waiting for them when the Prometheus lands there.

@CanadaPhil:
That would make sense for his suit to be sturdier than the rest. I've got a feeling this movie is gonna be one twist after another.

What interests me is how the suit appeared fossilized in Alien, but is very mechanical looking in Prometheus. I have long speculated that David is affected by whatever is happening to the humans. Would it be possible that he is (more or less) becoming "living"? And if so, should he wear the suit, how would whatever is affecting him know the difference between the mechanical David and the mechanical suit? I think of it like a butterfly. A caterpillar forms a cocoon around it's self. That cocoon changes as the body inside changes, then the butterfly escapes it's cocoon and lives. What if David (or whoever is in the suit, assuming they are evolving/mutating/changing) IS the cocoon? Since the movie is 119 minutes long, these changes have to take place in hours, days (max) in "in movie time". As the wearer continually evolves, eventually the "life" it's self escapes it's confines and becomes it's own being. This would make most sense with David, as he is mechanical with organic components.
