MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 12:40 AMI still, from all the trailers and still shots, connot get a perspective on the size of these sets we have been shown. Look at Alien and see Dallas and Co clambering around that derelict, something doesn't quite add up for me. Maybe it's because we haven't yet been shown the difference in size between however many different size aliens we will see. But the one constant that we know of is the size of the "chair"...isn't it?

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 2:33 AMHi, the chair size is not good comparison factor.
We don't know yet for sure whether this is the same boneship or the same type of boneship.
In favor of possibility of the same chair (type):
The chair room is different. But the chair was lifted from below so maybe in Alien we see the same chair just in the another room below the starmap room.
Against of possibility of the same chair (type):
If the Alien boneship is really soo old, then it's possible SJ size and chair size is different.
In Prometheus there are many differences in details.
In addition to confusion:
In Prometheus they see the old SJ head and bodies outside the Head room, and the size of the bodies roughly match the SJ in Alien.
But these bodies will probably not fit in the sarcophagus in the chair room.
And we see some bone exosuits which are nearly human size.
And the entity sitting in the chair in the Prometheus Trailer would need to grow up significantly to match the Alien SJ size.

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 7:53 AM Perhaps there are different roles for these various sizes say privates, captains, commanders after all this is in comparison to the human race a unique life-form from another galaxy, the view we take on an alien culture is that they should form a similar lifestyle following rules that we believe in.
The alternative is that indeed as RS has suggested to us that this is not precisely the same format as previously ALIEN film and that it is another part of that universe and that he doesn't want to continue in the same vein, so maybe it's a smaller vessel a scout vessel and that the commanding system is with varying levels given that in a long shot in front of Prometheus as it lands we see 4 maybe 5 other temples and that each hold a vessel each.

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 8:20 AMDon't forget, film credits include engineers and ELDER engineers...that could explain differences in size right there.

MemberDeaconApr-12-2012 11:04 AMI did a rough estimate and the Chair is 16ft in Length which makes SJ in Alien about 12ft, the production team said he was 15ft.
The Prometheus Pilot would be about 9ft if same Chair is 16ft and Ridley said the Space Jockeys are 9ft.
