MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 11:18 AMLet's assume for a minute that the 'derelict' ship is indeed taking off from one planet and ends up crashed on LV-426. What happens inside the ship after the crash?
Do any of our scientist board the ship on LV-426? And how would they get there if Prometheus was destroyed (assuming of course that it is destroyed)? Or do any of them unwittingly hitch a ride (or in some cases want to)?
Something is bothering me about tying in the SJ's chest being open and the eggs being on board. I had always assumed that the mist layer covering the eggs would have to be broken before the eggs react & open, ie Alien, is there someone unwanted onboard sticking their noses in where there not wanted?
So with all the talk from Sir Rippers himself that the film does indeed tie into Alien near the end (say last 5 - 10 mins) will we see some sort of activity on the derelict after everything has gone down in Prometheus town??

I wonder what a midair drop would do to the Derelict ship. You know, just like in the trailer? Maybe I am wrong, and maybe I don't fully grasp alien technology, but it seems to me that such a drop after a midair collision (like in the trailer) would render the Derelict ship sort of inoperable. Like no more flying. Like derelict status.
I could be wrong again, but it looks to me that the planet upon which the Derelict crashes looks remarkably similar to the planet upon which the Prometheus lands on in the trailer. Looks just like the planet which is explored by the crew, which contains the temple, and looks strangely just like the planet from which the Derelict takes off from.
All this gives me the crazy idea that the movie takes place on the same planet. Otherwise, LV-2whatever and LV-426 aren't just incredibly similar, but mirror images of each other. Which I find hard to believe.
I think RS doesn't really care what Cameron named the planet. I think LV426 is LV-2whateverRScallsit. I think something happens to the planet in the end of the movie (or years after), rendering it inhospitable. It would explain why all the planet scenes (Prometheus landing/crew disembarking and Derelict crashing) look exactly the same and why the Derelict is found lying on the surface, inoperable, in Alien. But as I said, I could be wrong. LV-2whatever may indeed be the first of many planets the Prometheus and Derelict chase each other to. I just hope LV-2whatever is the planet where the Predators are revealed. It would make so much sense. Because of the the trailer for Predator 2.

MemberDeaconApr-12-2012 11:56 AMThat is always a good question and the main question that any prequal should had been based on. who was the big guy? where did he come from? how did the Eggs get there? and why?
If we do assume that indeed this Derelict that crashes into Prometheus on LV 223 is the same that gets to LV 426 we have to ask, how does it take back off and why did it end up on LV 426?
Sure a Chestburster would acount for that.....
What if indeed David becomes the first Xeno, or he has something to do with it.
Maybe the Derelict takes back off, but unknown to the Space Jockey David is onboard, or maybe the SJ thinks David is one of them/on their side.
Maybe David then somehow uses a Organism, maybe Shaws Squid Baby against the SJ, maybe David becomes the Proto Xeno and he is the one who manages to implant the Chestburster into the Jockey?
I guess we will find out in 6 weeks or so.

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 11:56 AMHUH? where did Predator come from?? Anyway I said 'assuming it ends up on LV-426' and was interested in any activity on the derelict itself after the crash, not whether it still works or not, that's irrelevant to the posts topic.

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 12:01 PM@BigDave I am on your wavelength there, I just have a feeling that David will end up part of the 'big picture' in terms of genetic make up for the Alien in Alien (I hate the word XENOMORF or whatever it is). Plus RS loves andriods and the idea of being human, not knowing whether they are human etc.... So the next step maybe one trying to become part living.

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 12:07 PMYou're right. Whether the Derelict takes off and crashes on LV-426 has nothing to do with the topic of what happens to the Derelict after it crash lands on LV-426, assuming it crash lands on LV-426. My apologies. And if you don't know about the Predator connection, then I ain't tellin. You can check out the forum thread on it, cause it's totally real. But then again I think the Predators are going to show up on LV-Magellan.

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 12:14 PMThat was kinda of to say - we are talking about the same derelict in Prometheus as in Alien, because of other discussions saying it might be a different ship.
Predators and aliens were thrown together to make shit films and money. Yes the head on the trophy wall in P2 was clever but I don't even recognise the AVP films in regards to the orignal Alien films, and neither does RS for that matter.
Right I have no more food my troll friend!

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 12:31 PMIn Aliens LV426 is a quoted as being a previously unsurveyed and unvisited planet before the Nostromo landed.
I doubt very much it has even been discovered at this time frame

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 12:34 PMThat came from "The Company" in their board room As a matter of fact from a real bitchy type enlisted woman who may not have been privy to the truth. Especially all those years after.

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 12:37 PMMy calculation is one of the protagonists gets infected by one of the new face-huggers on LV-223 and after realising that he/she is going to unleash a whole new beast on everyone he/she puts on the Space Jockey suit and flies away only to have the new xeno burst out of his/her chest mid-flight resulting in him/her crashing the derelict on the not yet discovered planet of LV-426.
Then 30 years later the mining-ship Nostromo picks up the distress beacon.
p.s. I use he/she in reference to either David, Holloway, Shaw or Vickers. My bet is on it being David because as an android he would learn how to pilot the ship more quickly, if not immediately, and the story would have a much more dramatic effect if the android learnt one of the most sacred of human attributes - Self-sacrifice

MemberDeaconApr-12-2012 3:12 PMI dont have a problem with AVP the action wise is decent, i mean Alien Resurection i worse and Alien 3.
The Story dont make sence, not so much the Story (Alien Resurection sucked) but the time line.
Prometheus could be just as bad Story wise if it was set in 2012-2020.
AVP could have and should have worked if it was based around the year 2150 ish.
I would like to see a AVP based on that timeline like the Games it could work, maybe it may not?
But then how would someone pull off a Alien 5 and especially if Ripley was brought back in.
Here is my order on the Franchise inc AVPs. Not in Predator movies.
1# Aliens
2# Alien
3# Alien 3
4-5# Tie between Alien Resurection and AVP
6 AVP2.
Hopefully Promethues can go between 1 and 2 but as long as its at worse Alien 3 i guess its not so bad.

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 5:47 PMI've been assuming that the SJ ship in Prometheus leaves LV223 after much crazy mishap but is heading to earth to drop off the eggs FOR DESTRUCTION and something happens and it crashes leading into Alien. Ridley has mentioned a sequel to Prometheus so that leaves lots of questions as to how they will tie the Prequel(s) into Alien. If he does indeed want a sequel maybe there will be duel ending to Prometheus, one that explains the crash on LV246 and another taking the follow up film in a different direction altogether (which i sort of hope happens).
