Peter Weyland there 1st?

@Next... Thats the pic I was looking for, but your link is bad.. I think you set it us as a still when that is a video clip. Now, I could be mistaken, but I think we are ALL now in agreement that the old guy IS Weyland... I mean... Who else can that possibly be right?.. And he appears to be wearing the more ruggediized version of the suit (also noted in the timline I believe) which he is obviously wearing to help him with his mobility as he is now frail. Now look closely.... Is this not the same suit we have seen being penetrated by the EEL ??? I think Weyland's suit has "Mad Max" style leg bracing with hinged joints to help him stand and walk.

I know weyland is at the middle of all of this....on the weyland timeline it mentions his father is a professor of comparative mythology, so weyland probably learns something early in life that will be useful later, on the timeline his career hits warp speed after his project over the poles w/ some kind of mirrors(s)?? Maybe he intercepts one of those mysterious beacons...so he probably received all kinds of info that he could decifer and this made him appear to be so advanced....also his TED talk eludes to this...however his arrogance doesnt allow him to reveal his sources....I think Shaws findings in the caves are the last piece of weylands puzzle as to where the transmissions originate, because from the timeline it appears he was working to get there long before anyone else knew where he was going...also, this echos the transmissions the nostromo picked up in alien....and I speculate that weyland knew about it too and waited for the opportune time for someone to travel near it...how sweet of him....but if he shows up there at the end of the prometheus movie, his presence may the catalyst that pisses off the sj's.....we could speculate for days

OK, and here is the old man shot from another angle closer up... Who are these guys?.. They are defending him like a hired professional security detail? He is surrounded by at least 4. If the old man is the one on the left, then that does look a bit like the actor playing Weyland on the TED talks... A bit of a stretch though...

Once again @CanadaPhil, your gift of explanation rings true. What if.....Weyland on earth, for the last 30 years, IS AN ANDROID. Because he got marooned on the alien planet on the heliades expedition, and the company made the android because if the public knew Weyland was gone, or anyone else for that matter- his company would crumble and there would be a hostile takeover and nobody to finish the rest of the puzzle. easy enought to explain. you don't. you let expanded universe fill in the blanks. --i.e. like R.S. hasn't explain the origin of the S/J for the last 30 years. It's part of the enigma.

here's something I posted on another thread, but now I forget which one. I'm only re-posting it here because it picks up with what could happen to Weyland towards the end of prometheus (and is relevant here)......... Somewhere I read that the engineers let loose their favorite bio-weapon on the humans, and that the humans were able to turn said weapon against the engineers.---maybe it's that simple as to why the S/J sets down/crashes a ship on lv-426 (im not convinced it's THE alien ship from lv-223, but a second one) and sets the beacon to stay away, right before he/she/it got chest bursted and died. **also** I think Weyland gets into the alien S/J suit and tries to commendeer the alien ship off of lv-223, and that's why Prometheus is so hell bent to stop it---they find out the real ploy by their "boss" (they were wrong--they were so wrong) ....I believe the blue guys aren't as bad as they are appearing, and are just trying to defend what is thiers, OR what THEY stole from a higher being. (and try to re-engineer human dna along the way to create something else) but have to maybe punish humans for ruining things...again. Or maybe I've just read to much on this site and all the theories are blending together.

I see your point @allinamberclad, but then again, nothing here philisophically "seems to stand". It's all opinionated theory and thats what makes it so good. I'm willing to bet that all my theories are wrong, but when bits and pieces are couple with bits and pieces of opinions from creative minds like @CanadaPhil, or @Sparky, or even yourself, some pretty cool whacked out ideas that sound very very plausible in this genre come alive.
