There are no 'ampules' in the Prometheus trailer

Well these things look like Urns. They do not look like Eggs, or Ampules if we are being specific. But a Urn is usually used to contain the ashes or dead remains of a Person/Organism. A Egg is basically a Organism that becomes a embryo when it is fertilised. A Ampule is used to contain a Liquid Sample of some kind. They could all tie in together. These Urns/Canisters contain the building blocks to create/start life and not contain the remains of what was once life. They may contain a Sample of a Substance like a Ampule, but a Substance that when fertilised or bonded with DNA will then go on to create life. So they indeed cary elements of all 3.

@Dave ... Urns proper description & use makes sense ... Ok then ... say they are urns contain lots of different DEAD species? ... but Weyland has Cloning technology and so re-produces those dead species? ... hence an already killed of Xeno type as one possibility? ... Jurasic Park if you will? ... their universe would once again rock with their versions of 'Dinosaurs' (used loosley), so to speak? ... that I could handle ... :) ...

@progeny; I know right!!! It is quite obvious why Ridley uses the word "ampule". I posted that same pic of David8 twice (links below), once on page 2 of this very thread. David is clearly playing with a type of ampoule with 4 chambers to it. Zoom in and four claws one at each of the tips

Thats what i noticed that it has four portions to it. The Eggs split open into four parts that peel away? To me this contains some kind of Organism, it looks like a cross between a Squid and a Jelly Fish to me.

@BigDave; It looks very much like 4 ampoules (containing a biological liquid) stored inside a metal container with each ampule connected in the top center by a handle of some kind (David is holding onto the handle). The ampoules themselves could be made of anything, even a biological caseing. We don't know what it is, it's all speculation at this point, but if I were to store something important I would use the ampoule system, like scientists today do.
