CRAZZY similar plot going on here

To be fair, it would have similarities if they are taking an inspiration from the same source material to spin their Sci-Fi escapades around, ie: Prometheus [Legend]... Their interpretation does sound painfully literal, 'though - what was their version of the technology called, "[b]Fire[/b]tronic Drive"?

Well, Stargate was very much taken from "Ancient Alien" theory and it appears Prometheus is too so there is bound to be some similarities.

the Prometheus in stargate is an amalgam of Human, Goa'uld and Asgard tech whereas the ship in Prometheus seems to be all us baby. The Goa'uld discovered the human race and saw in us a biology they could repair easily to promote extremely long life and with this ruled over us as gods in human form (by taking over our bodies ). The info thus far from this movie suggests something much more profound in that we were made or engineered by the gods from the outset. Additionally my feeling is that rather than a body to inhabit as in the Goa'uld the SJs or gods see us more as raw materials to be re-tasked. Also there seems to be a twisted / freaky sexual element to it all whereas the Goa'uld modus operandi was more of an enslave the humans so we can live in luxury kind of thing. I think also that most Sci Fi nowadays tips its hat to Alien in some way or another its a very important movie.
