Most curious hole in temple

I don't think anyone has ever started a topic on this but my apologies if it has. I went back and looked at the first 3 sneak looks, "In 3 days...In 2 days..." that is on iTunes, I keep noticing this odd set that looks like what they find as they enter the first door in the temple. Looks like a drain......or sewer....but of course, they go down there.......water's probably churning with infectious nematodes that leap at their eyeballs..........mwah, ha ha......errr, OK maybe not.

I truly apologize for my prior hole comment. In seriousness, there's a primal fear about holes that lead nowhere, probably dating back to our primitive ancestors. When Kane finds the hole in the derelict I was like, 'don't go in there!' but of course ... It is also a metaphor for exploring the darkest things in life ... and in ourselves. (Ooh!)
