@Payno I believe the "Movie Magic", [tm], reason is, [i]apparently[/i]: that synthetics are as internally sensitive to certain atmospheres as humans.

David is an Synthetic human so likely needs oxygen and has similar tolerances to heat, cold, vacuum, radiation and so on. Im basing this on info from Aliens and Bishop, i know they are robots but its always seemed to be more than hydraulics and metal to me more biomechanics.

My alarm clock is synthetic, why can't I operate it under water? Perhaps it just works better in an atmosphere composed mostly of nitrogen and oxygen. ;)

Well maybe some parts of him like his skin are sensitive to radiation and other harmfull things? A interesting thing i found when looking at the plot for the movie Planet of the Vampires, where the unseen vampires need humans as a host.... made me think? That movies plot does have some simularities to Prometheus.... So i know this is off topic..... but maybe the SJ need humans to use to extend their race, they are dying out and set a trap for us. They need to use our boddies so they can live on or become reborn. Now what if they do not know that David is not a human? What if they try and infect/use him as a host but it back fires as he is not Human but Synthetic and thus he becomes the Xeno..... remember the Xenos had a Mechanical look to them. @Dave...ive considered for a while the idea that David, or an android (i truely think vickers is one) becomes infected in this story. one thing seems clear, something changes in the evolution here. if the xeno is in fact related to the SJ, then something must change, something must happen in the process that hasnt happened before for us to eventually get what we have in Alien. in Alien, Ash admires the xeno for its purity, unclouded by morals and a conscience, much like he was.

@shawn Given the trailers and stills we've seen, I think the sequence you're identifying is highly likely. However, Shaw looks pretty fresh in her orange piped suit (pre "squidly" fresh).

Robots are not organic. They can not be "infected".
