Reading the Prometheus myth and noted an interesting word, vessel. In the myth, Zeus plagues man with a perfect woman, Pandora. Pandora eventually opens a vessel and unleashes plague, and all kinds of disasters on man. I can see Vickers as Pandora since she is an attractive woman who I expect will require David to open the urn or vessel with the green goo and four ampules. Because of that, all hell is unleashed on mankind. I'll refer to another post with a link to the myth. Pandora then lifted the lid of the vessel in which the foresight of Prometheus had concealed all the evils which might torment mortals in life. I agree, the Pandora and Eve myths are similar versions of the same myth. Shaw would fit the Eve model easier than the Pandora model, but she would still fit both. I am thinking Vickers is the most likely Pandora since she probably has control over opening the vessel. Also, she is the alpha (female) on the ship, is attractive, and potentially a problem for men - but all women are a problem for men ; ). My prediction, a woman (Shaw or Vickers) will order David to open the vessel. That woman is Pandora. I just think it would be Vickers, but your guess could be right too.

You make a great point. Since you mentioned Pandora, would it be safe to say that Shaw is also a type of Pandora, since she says, "We were so wrong." And the fact that she mistakenly believed that our creator(s) wanted us to find them? Or, would it be more fitting for her in the role of Eve and Holloway in the role of Adam, maybe?

Surely, the Greek Pandora myth is analogous to a Christian myth of Eve who tempts man with the forbidden apple. Pandora is supposed to be very beautiful having received gifts from Athena and she is a secret time bomb for man. You also have the romantically inclined (but presumably unconsummated relationship of) Holloway and Shaw that also fit the Adam and Eve roles. As in, Shaw leads Holloway, man, to the forbidden apple. I am siding with Vickers as Pandora since Pandora opens the vessel and I feel Vickers will be responsible for opening vessel. She is also the alpha woman. She is attractive, at the top of her game and in command. So, I see her as Pandora more than Shaw. Shaw as Pandora is still possible. For example, it could be Shaw who wants to find the secrets in the vessel by opening it and then says "we were so wrong." She does fit the Eve model better than Vickers, and she is a woman. I am torn basically on guessing who opens the vessel. If a female opens the vessel (or tells David to do so) in the movie, then she is Pandora.
