Interesting view into the biology of the creatures in 'Prometheus'

"The film’s new creatures are the work of Creative Supervisor for Creature Effects and Special Make-Up Effects Neal Scanlan and Prosthetic Supervisor Conor O’Sullivan. “We present the evolution of these nasty bits and pieces of creature evolution in a logical and biological fashion,” says Scott. Adds Scanlan: “Each stage of a creature’s life cycle has a distinctive purpose. For our xenobiology, we brought in new elements that are not necessarily backward from those in Alien, but are of a similar DNA. Many of Ridley’s references are derived from nature – plants, vegetables, sea creatures and other animals. Nothing is invented.”

OK, maybe not literally, but from the point of view of evolution:

I wonder if Ridley was based on prehistoric creatures?

I know...right?...not saying we're getting a xeno and especially since that has been roundly shot down at every turn....but I definately think there will be a visual corollary...
April 25, 2012
There definitely will be new creatures,with at least one that we are clueless about.I'll bet the big blue guys are not the bad guys,they are probably just as fucked as we are.

@silica
It doesn't mean a damn thing, it's not even English.
I think, whoever it is, means to say something like: "not, necessarily, direct antecessors...".

Thanks, I was wondering about that. Because someone else just posted a video of RS being interviewed by the LA Times where he literally says either the ship on LV-426 or "its technology" is in fact millions of years old, which means the aliens on it could be older than the ones in Prometheus.
And, since most of the human civilizations which came into contact with the jockeys/engineers appear to have done so within known history, or since humans were cave painting (which places our first contact with them within the last 35,000 years), did they visit us after the crash on LV-426?

i always thought it would be interesting if humans evolved from animals like dolphins instead of great apes since for the most part apes(not monkeys) cant swim at ALL.
human babies instinctively can swim and to toot my own horn i am an excellent swimmer and learned myself as a child. (thanks for not catching me off the pool slide when you said you would dad, learned how to swim pretty damn quick didnt i!)
plus i also find it interesting how many people are born with webbed hands and feet like its some new evolutionary leap in case we get our asses flooded.
i just always felt like we were more aquatic beings then tree dwellers. course on the other hand, im not too shabby at climbing trees either.

@Wirrn The astrobiology also called exobiology is the concept recognized by science.
On the other hand In science fiction exobiologist is a theoretical one that speculates on possible extraterrestrial life forms, while a xenobiologist usually refers to a doctor or biologist who is an expert in the physiology of alien life forms, which are presumed known in the context of the narrative (Xenobiology concept is only consistent with a fictional story)
And this is my favorite
