David figured that out quick ?

Now to me that seems a bit quick even for an robot, im beginning to think that with what looks like an old Peter Weyland along of the ride and this familiarity with the SJ tech they have seen this stuff before.
any thoughts ?

This bit made me wonder too! Im not sure either if its because he's a robot, but my thoughts are that maybe, similarly to Call in Ressurection, he can connect to things, and maybe he has done this here. It could be the fact that hes a robot, and that we are looking too far into it....but hell, thats what this site is all about!
Its a robot...ash is a goddamn robot!

I don't know. He's supposed to be "child-like". He is obviously very "excited" and his 'nature" is to figure things out, put two and two together. As faras the star map, who's to say all you have to do is walk up to it and it doesn't just turn on?

Its impossible to know the flow of events but its made me think that David is the most important character in this, i think he tinkers around with the tech and gets a bit crazy with it causing all the excrement to hit the fan. A few rolling ideas from this feeling -
1. the Xenos are biomechanical, the SJs are Bio and David is synthetic (the mechanical element) so David could be the first Proto-Xeno due to his tinkering. The idea of mucking around with our genetics might be abhorrent to us but why would a robot care.
2. The older clip with Shaw screaming at a human form in what looks like the Prometheus is in fact David during the change. Possibly near the end of the film. This might be the link bit
3. The elongated Xeno cranium we all know and love is due to David changing while in his suit and it also being incorporated into the overall body structure - the suits the crew wear are vaguely similar in shape to the Xeno skull and as we all know protect the sensory organs of the wearer so could be a biological response to protection a helmet gives.

@ thereyouarejonsey
i started a similar topic last night called david taking charge in new featurette video
have a look for more information
like i said, his behavior really stood out to me and him taking charge is more prominent in this latest video, and the crew seem fine with him mucking about with an aliens technology.......very strange

ive made a few posts saying similar, i think David wanting to be a creator, or involved in creation, is going to be a turning point for this film, and a metaphor for us all. maybe we let our creators down, and our creation lets us down. How would we deal with a robot that we werent happy with, we'd either sell it, scrap it, or maybe reuse some of the parts in something else. but we wouldn't kep it.

I had a though a bit back that David is the FIRE, we created life in a way and it will bite us on the bum.
April 26, 2012
Oh wait, David is Prometheus who took the fire and we pay for it as we made him, sort of sins of the father stuff.

I wonder if David is the sort of synthetic that can eat (like Ash) or does he just require an electrical outlet to recharge?
I think Bishop could eat as well, but it makes one wonder when he gives his tray of food away. He may simply not need it as Ash probably didn't either, but needed to eat in order to mask what he was. No big deal to create the synthetics a "stomach" and "evacuation chute" just to make everyone else think you're human.

it would be a major fault if David in the beginning is beeing asked ´ tell me can you read this´ standing before the hieroglyps.
And later he is naturally using the SJ high tech ..

In the greek parallel kind of way, David could be a parallel for Pandora because Pandora was created by the gods in response to Prometheus's theft in order to punish humanity. Her curious, but not malevolent nature caused the evils of the world to be unleashed.
Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

one more little thing. The higher tech a piece of equipment is, the easier it is to operate, usually. A big part of improving something is making it more accessible. A tricked out M-4 carbine with all the trimmings is way easier to shoot accurately than a circa WWII M-1 Garand, though arguably not as fun.
