Its Weyland's own ship. He could EASILY have snuck on board with help. Plus, from the London screening, we see that he "died during the course of their journey." Which could totally be a misdirection, if he's on the ship, then it doesn't matter anyways, he'd be just as alive as they were when the ship arrives. Plus, on the Weyland site, theres a page where it shows the avg. Dying Age of humans getting higher and higher, past 100.

He also has an Exo-suit which we see him stood up in later

we've also considered the possibility that the old man is already on the planet when they arrive. i havent seen any good explanations as to why Weyland would smuggle himself on his own ship in the first place, and if he did, why reveal himself?

The thing is how does a frail old man who is about 90 survive on that plannet, how long has he been there for? Where did he stop, did the Engineer put him up on a Bed and Breakfast basis? Please dont take those comments as a attack or anything, i just think that Weyland would find it hard to survive on that planet unless he had a Ship or outpost thats located a fair distance from the horrors and threats located within that temple. Also this is the future and Weyland is a pioneer in many scientific advancements. There for the average 90 year old in 2090 would be more fit and more able and less suspect to complications of old age compared to now, like we are now compared to those at the turn of the 1900's. He apears as a Hollogram and says that by the time the crew reach their destination "he may be dead" now thats MAYBE like Ridley says MAYBE in a lot of things. If you see Vickers Room and the Weyland discription of some of the Tech thats in that Room. That Room istelf is like a giant Cryo Chamber. I would bet my bottom dollar that Weyland is in this movie and that Weylands part to the plot is bigger than even Shaws. I have added clues together and i have come to a conclusion regarding Weyland but i wont say as its a Spoiler... Lets just say we would see when we see Weylands Agenda, the connections that Ridley made when refering to Blade Runner.

We need to look at some things.... 1) We do see a frail old guy, it could had been Holloway but then one scene that came out not so long ago rules that out. So who else would the old guy be? He is not one of the 17 crew go and take a look at that Cast List. Unless he is one of the Mercs, (but i checked all of them and seen two or three in trailers, only one is not a main actor) Mechanics but they wear silver suits and i checked all them and seen two of them in trailers. So the Old Guy is thus.... 1) A unacounted crew member not one of the 17 and not on the cast list. 2) Mercenary 3 (CC Smith) but come on 90 year old Merc? 3) Some other member of that cast in old man make up... but then that has to be again one of the Mercs or Engineers and looking at all trailers etc etc, there are 4 of those 8 we have not seen clear enough or at all in any images and trailers. so maybe its one of those in old man make up? 4) It is indeed Weyland (Guy Pearce) in old man make up. Then ask why book maybe the highest calibre actor from the cast list just to do a Cameo? Ok Sigourney Weaver made one in the Cabin in the Woods, but she was not part of the plot really. Weyland is a massive part of the plot, he is the founder and CEO of Weyland Industries, he has funded the mission and this mission could have findings that would make the biggest discovey that mankind has ever made. Weyland also is argogant he wants to be Godlike, he strives to live on. When you add all the clues plus 2 spoilers that was posted regards to a interview it all adds up... WEYLAND = PROMETHEUS.

@belladonna lol Yeah could be him it fits the bill. Also look at what he is teaching, about Dark Matter? that comes from out of that Organisms Bottom.... Well we know the crew of Prometheus end up deep in the "brown stuff" and that audio stream about Milburn does sound like a bad case of diarrhea. Which explains by that image you posted how the Dark Matter reproduces itself.... Great Find my Lady ;)

@BigDave...i hear you, but theres just as many holes in either theory. the explanation for why he would 1) stow away on his own ship, and 2) decide to reveal himself if he found it necessary to hide in the first place, are just as mysterious and senseless so far as how he could survive on the planet for all that time as an elderly man (which is a good question, and I have no idea, outside of something supernatural) heres a question, does anyone know if the weyland seen in the hologram message is a young weyland or old? im guessing its a young guy pearce. if that old man is weyland, how long ago does that mean he recorded the message?

Thats a very good point..... Dont forget that the Weyland lifeboat can sustain life without Cryo Stasis for upto 50 years. This could be how Weyland could be on the planet from another prior mission but then we have to ask how does Weyland avoid contact with the Organisms in the Temple and the Jockeys? And why does Prometheus not detect that lifeboat. I am pretty certain a old Weyland is in the movie i would say as far as 80% certain only i am not so sure on how and when. As you said as the on board theory has holes. But then so would a being on the planet via lifeboat one. The only other one is that he is dead.... But then who is that frail looking guy in the wheel chair, the only alternatives are... 1) A undeclared member of the crew and cast 2) One of the Mercs or Mechanics 3) A infected crew member who has come into contact with something. But then the special effects team has said they worked on the Space Jockey suits, they had to make cast of one of the Engineers heads to use as masks and they also had to do some special effects old man make up on another member of the cast. I will see if i can find that intervew... it was in SPFX France

Ok well all very interesting, im just not getting the idea that he smuggles himself onboard or in any way has to be there in a secret capacity. If Richard Branson builds a shuttle which will take people to mars in the next 15 years i cant see why he would sneak onto his ship or have a secret compartment made for him so he can sneak to mars, he could just say i may be 70+ but im going and if you dont like it tough titties pal cos i paid for this !. doesn't compute for me.

i can get with the idea that he was already there somehow but again its the whole secret bit. Why keep it secret......unless he is in cahoots with the SJs and his monumental success is due to pilfered SJs knowledge. Hmmmm, wasn't there something about Wow signal 2 in the Weyland web-site. And it would be very easy to cure cancer and fix the ozone layer if you get some tips from a race who can terra-form and genetically engineer on a planetary level. sod it a month and i will know !
